Food is excellent , good value for the dollar! Wait staff is knowledgeable and very friendly. We have eaten there twenty times and have never been disappointed.
We brought out-of-town friends to one of our favorite local restaurants. As usual, the food and service were terrific but we were surprised how uncrowded the place was on a Friday evening. Hope this is not an omen!
Great quiet dinner. Service was friendly and kind and my steak was cooked to perfection. Always a great spot to come and enjoy a perfectly executed meal.
Elegant yet welcoming restaurant, with excellent food. From all indications, the server was not trained at all regarding serving wine.
Great food and service
We were visiting the restaurant when they started. There was a good choice of food and the restaurant was full. On the evening we visited we were the only visitors after 8.20 (3 people) The food looked and tasted terrible. For 3 appetiser portions of ravioli, salads and a bottle of Proseco we paid 212 US (Tip was included in this).
We were the only people in the empty restaurant after 8PM and they asked us to order( as soon as we arrived )the main course as they did not expect other people and obviously invited us to finish earlier without a prier notice. In the name of the truth I have to say that it was the evening of the 3d of July but at the same time while we were walking home we realised that all the near by restaurants that we were visiting the last 5-6 years were full of people and life.
It’s a nice, quiet restaurant and a good place to catch up with friends. It was a holiday weekend so even quieter than usual. The cod was delicious, the salad and gazpacho were good, and baked Alaska was disappointing. (Isn’t the meringue supposed to be crispy?)
This is a lovely small restaurant, with a quiet, intimate, and romantic atmosphere and attentive service. We chose the 3-course set menu (of 4 choices each), which was an interesting and novel take on a tomato soup, gnocchi, and baked alaska. The wine list is good mix of local and foreign vineyards and varieties.
Chef Scott is a master of food and ambience. This is a favorite neighborhood restaurant.
Friendly, discreet, welcoming, very good food.
Wonderful dinner with great service. Our server Nicole was warm and professional. The food was superior. Lovely.
We cane here to celebrate my father’s 90th birthday. The food was excellent and the menu choices were very varied & unique. For the price, the service, however could have been better. The wait staff seemed a bit inexperienced although very accommodating & nice.
Wonderful food at a hidden local gem. Everything was delicious, I can’t wait to go back again. I also love that this is a no gratuity accepted restaurant.
Another lovely dinner at Sutton Inn. The warm sun dried tomato focaccia came with a delicious creamy lemon ricotta spread, it was so summery. I had the heirloom tomato salad app which was also very seasonal. Like a trip to the summer farmer’s market. For an entree I had the cod which was incredible. Silky and flaky fish in a delectable brown butter sauce with veggies and potatoes. Paired with the Chardonnay it literally melted in my mouth. We will definitely return again, I love this place.
Made a reservation and when we arrived at the restaurant, though it was less than half full, we were taken to the worst spot in the restaurant! Two table of different sizes squeezed together.... when we asked to be moved to one of the other tables we were told they were reserved! When I asked how that’s possible I was told people reserve certain tables. After we made a fuss we were seated at a normal table. Waitress service was Very unprofessionally for this level of restaurant and after a 2 hour dining experience none of the so called “reserved” tables were taken! When I mentioned this to the hostess on the way out she actually replied.... they All cancelled. We will never go back! Too many other good restaurants where they actually treat their customers well!
Always an interesting menu. Have been there many times and will continue.
Only complaint is no swapping from menu
Definitely the best!!! This gem never disappoints. Creative cuisine, excellent service and calm, elegant atmosphere.
Out favorite by far!!!!
Great time always
Sad to say this place has grown weary and unimaginative. We used to enjoy it very much but won't be retuning.
Great staff appears bored as well.
Too bad that a postive attitude is not enough you need good food if you want to collect $100 a person..
The food can use a little help - the portions are quite small and not exactly a flavor explosion for the price. I will return here for the impeccable service, which is just as important for a good meal, in my opinion.
This is my third time back to this restaurant. I have always had a great meal and service. However, the service last night with our server was unusual for Sutton Inn. From what I understood our server was new and he must have been trailing because in the middle of our meal he left. He never asked how our meal was and never came back to brink more drinks to the table. I was upset because this restaurant is pricey which I don't mind spending the money because the food is amazing but the service needs to follow. For me the service needs to be better then the food and atmosphere. But I need to give credit where credit is due. August was the acting manager and made sure we didn't leave without feeling good about our experience. She went above and beyond and for that I will return and highly recommend Sutton Inn for a dinning experience that will leave you with wanting more. Thanks August!
A wonderful dinner and time. Our first time there. Quiet for conversation, wonderfully laid out, great service! Especially like the NO TIPPING policy. And on Monday, there is no corkage charge. Also, very good and inventive food
We've been there twice in the last year. Very nice restaurant with great service. You can also bring in your own bottle of wine if you buy from the store across the street.
We really enjoyed Mother’s Day brunch
It was a wonderful experience the wait staff was attentive the food was delicious the atmosphere was very pleasant there was soft music and no noise
Sutton Inn took amazing care of us! I brought in a party of ten for my birthday and we were all totally delighted by the food, service, ambience, and special little touches they brought us throughout the evening to make my birthday even more special.
Excellent food, tip included so price seemed a little high.
We had a good waiter this time so the entire experience was enhanced much more than past couple of visits in the last few years.
The food, service and atmosphere always strike the perfect note. If you want a relaxing evening of delicious but not over-composed cuisine served with warmth and exquisite attention to detail, this is the place for you. Sutton Inn is an oasis in the hustle and bustle of NYC.
My daughter and I spent the day moving from one apt to another. We were excited to celebrate and try a new restaurant close to her new apt. Overall, a great little place with good food, a nice Cotes du Rhône wine and ambiance. We hadn’t eaten all day and were excited to relax and talk into the evening. We had a late reservation and the waitress was ready to leave, which she made obvious. I asked if we could just finish our wine since we spent a lot on dinner etc. and also finishing an after dinner cheese plate. She said well how much time do you need? She let us stay for 20 min. more. It was late, almost 11pm.
Wonderful dinner. Food was excellent. Service was perfect.
All around great restaurant.
I'm not writing 50 characters. The food is simple and excellent . Try it for a quite evening if 2 or 4
Really nice restaurant
Food was really amazing
Would go back definitely
Went for dinner with another couple and had a terrific dinner. Very cute and charming ambiance, great food and wonderful service. By mistake they brought a steak instead of chicken entree. It was no big deal but they apologized profusely, said they would bring the chicken in addition to the steak and when we insisted it was really no big deal (the steak was absolutely delicious) they comped us the meal. Wonderful restaurant. Highly recommend.
Delicious Easter brunch. We had the luxurious eggs benedict and a braised lamb shank that was falling off the bone. We also loved the fresh squeezed juices for the mimosas.
Cozy little dining room in a quiet East Side neighborhood. The menu is limited but imaginative, and we enjoyed our meal. This is a "no tipping" restaurant, which may explain why service was at the low end of ordinary. Recommended.
One of my most favorite places! Take special people there!
Sutton Inn is a sparkling gem of a restaurant. The food was sublime and robust, delicate and yet full of flavor. All staff where completely attentive and yet unobtrusive. I would definitely recommend coming here for more than a special occasion.
The food was delicious; the servers were great; the ambiance was quiet, candle-lit. We had a lovely time.
