Sutro's at the Cliff House - San Francisco Ratings and Reviews
Food was good, desserts were excellent. Service was average but the server had a lot of table to cover. I put in a note on the reservation that it was for my husband’s early birthday but the sever never asked if we’re celebrating anything or brought out a little bday cupcake they normally do here. I guess I should’ve mentioned it when we checked in to make sure but thought it’d been a nice surprise for my husband. good to know for future that notes included in the reservation doesn’t really make any difference.
Well taken care of by Richard - our experience exceeded our expectations. The venue is spectacular but the food and drink were world class as well. Scallops and Butterscotch Pot de Crème was as good as it gets. The Old Cuban cocktail could change the course of history.
My bacon crusted salmon was amazing, but my husband's skirt steak didn't have a lot of flavor, although it was cooked perfectly. Not having a window table, I enjoyed the lighting, but found I didn't spend much time appreciating the view. It was really nice, but not as nice as it was expensive.
Food seems to have gone downhill a bit. Our salad was definitely not fresh. Lettuce with brown edges, seems to have been drying out for a few hours if not a day or so. Crab cakes were good but Crab Louie was tasteless and lettuce was again dried out and limp. It’ll be a long while before we go back there again. We used to come often but each time, their standards seemed to have down.
Pre Super Bowl Sunday lunch among 4 friends brought us a super (pun intended) clear day with a wonderful view of the water from our window seat; attentive service; reasonably good food. For some reason, the food was not as good/interesting as it usually is, but that was probably due to our selections. It's known as a tourist trap and every visitor should try to dine there when visiting San Francisco but it is so much better than what you would expect from a tourist trap.
On a long-weekend trip to San Francisco and we had to get out to the Cliff House for Sunday Brunch. Didn't want to do the buffet but a sit down for a nice meal. Can't beat the views - even if you are not right next to the window they are still beautiful. Food was amazing - we got an appetizer (crab cakes), drinks, entree (more crab), and dessert (lava cake and butterscotch creme brulee).
The view from Sutro's is incredible, probably the best in San Francisco. The food was very good. The only downside to our lunch was the service. Our waiter forgot to bring one of our drinks and then seemed to forget about us all together. At the end of the meal, he picked up the bill with our credit card and proceeded to set up another table for a large party.
The best, as usual. Scottish salmon is the 'go-to' entree to order. Never fails. The Crab Louis was so generous in the amount of crab and the presentation was beautiful. I opted for the cesar salad and the appetizer of the ahi tuna. More than adequate and oh my goodness, the ahi was yummy. Service always perfect. And if you are in the mood for a Ramos Fizz to start, you will be pleased.
NEVER disappointed ! Beautiful view from the dining room for everyone . The service is impeccable, food very good , worth splurging a little. We arrived at 11:30 am and we sat at a small booth with complete view of the ocean. Perfect for a date , family or friends getting together. The ambiance is quiet and relaxing.
We shared the Petrale Sole which was perfectly cooked. Michael, our waiter, was very friendly and attentive. We were treated to a SPECTACULAR sunset observed from our perfect window table. We hit the jackpot weather wise. Loved every minute of our experience there. Go on a Monday or Tuesday. Weekends are very crowded with tourists and kids.
