NEVER disappointed ! Beautiful view from the dining room for everyone . The service is impeccable, food very good , worth splurging a little. We arrived at 11:30 am and we sat at a small booth with complete view of the ocean. Perfect for a date , family or friends getting together. The ambiance is quiet and relaxing.
We shared the Petrale Sole which was perfectly cooked. Michael, our waiter, was very friendly and attentive. We were treated to a SPECTACULAR sunset observed from our perfect window table. We hit the jackpot weather wise. Loved every minute of our experience there. Go on a Monday or Tuesday. Weekends are very crowded with tourists and kids.
Go--- it is amazing!!! Especially the view!
Great atmosphere, Beautiful view, perfect waiter and yummy food
Really good food and menu. Great view. Excellent service. Would go there again for sure.
Best lunch I’ve had forever. The soup four stars the mushroom ravioli five stars with mushrooms reduction. Yum. Chris our waiter. Perfect knowledgeable with a great personality. Lorenza at the front is a GEM!!! Thanks
Absolutly delightful! Window table, delicious food and wine Tuesday! Half price bottles of wine.
We enjoyed a most memorable special birthday lunch celebrating a dear friend. The service and meal wa top notch. The views and charm of the restaurant added to the special meal shared. Food variety and tastes charmed us all. Great service .
Its another nice experience at Sutro’s. I haven’t been back in a long time and the food is still delicious. Service is fine as expected but can still improve a little.
Had the best table in the restaurant with beautiful views. Would have been perfect if our waiter was more attentive.
We had brunch overlooking the beautiful Pacific and had the joy of watching 2, then 3 dolphins circling around in the little cove below. Apparently they were brunching too. Our experience got off to a great start with the genuine kindness of the hostess. She had a warm, genuinely welcoming spirit and really added to our enjoyment. The service was wonderful: our waiter was very attentive and shared a dolphin story with us. Food is incredible there — I had their Dungeness Louis (generous amount of crab & very fresh) and my husband had mussels. Both were divine. This is an iconic San Francisco place but we never get tired of it. Great bar, too! Thanks, people of Sutro’s at the Cliff House!
We had a very enjoyable experience. We were celebrating a birthday. Our table was great. The crab sandwiches were excellent. The salad was outstanding.
My husband and I were celebrating an anniversary and our server treated us extra special. We appreciated the complimentary dessert! Our meals were also wonderful. I had the salmon and my husband had the duck.
We really enjoyed our evening and plan to return!
Food was a bit slow but view was super nice
Waiter was not attentive and seemed preoccupied. Plates arrived 45 minutes after we ordered and we were seated 15 minutes after opening. No there was NOT a rush of orders. My bouillabaisse had specks of crab meat but no scallops. Her pork chop was well executed but scrimped on pureed cauliflower. Over priced but...
Not a bad view anywhere. We caught a sunset spectacular.
Parking is a challenge and breakins are menacing.
Recommended for dates and special occasions.
On a beautiful sunny day we had a window table on the beach! In addition to the great food the people watching on the beach was a treat.
The view was beautiful and my lunch was tasty. The parking is an issue as All street parking during lunch is challenging.
The service was fine, the food was nothing special, the salad wasn't dressed or seasoned properly and the Croque Madame was innocuous.
Amazing food and service
What can I say? Sure, tourists go here but so do locals. You cannot beat the location. What a sweeping view of that tumultuous Pacific! After I dump my luggage off from a long flight to SFO, I start asking when we can go to The Cliff House.
The food is consistently good. Not great. Better than most that would lean on the view and serve meh food. Impossible to pass up the hot and generous bread with ample salted butter along with your cocktail. The waitstaff is reasonable attentive. Drinks are worthwhile.
If you're celebrating something, anything, come here. This place is what memories are made of.
Love to lunch at Sea Cliff's Sutro Restaurant. It location is superb, the food good, the décor totally San Francisco. Had the mushroom ravioli and it was delicious!
What a fabulous meal and experience! This was our first time at Sutro’s at the Cliff House after hearing about it for years and it did not disappoint. It was perfect for celebrating my 50th birthday at lunch with my family overlooking the sea on a cloudy day. The view was spectacular and the venue was open and airy inside with floor to ceiling windows. Our waiter was fun and engaging and we all had a great time, including my 14-year old son. We enjoyed the shrimp tempura, crab cakes and oysters to start, the renowned bacon crusted salmon, skirt steak and frites, and ravioli for meal and chocolate lava cake for dessert in addition to a complimentary dessert. The pomegranate martini was scrumptious. After our meal we went on outdoor deck for some wonderful photos and also saw a lovely group of dolphins. It is pricey but very worth it for special occasion. We will definitely be back! Thank you Sutro’s!
We got a nice table by the window and was happy to see seals and dolphins playing in the surf. Food was excellent, as always! And thanks to Sutro’s for the surprise birthday candle and treat :)
VERY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE. BOOKED FOR A SPECIAL OCCASION REQUESTED WINDOW SEATING. CORNER WINDOW GIVEN (EVEN THOUGH THE RESTAURANT WAS EMPTY @5PM ON A WEEKDAY) GAVE VIEW TO 2 OF 4 IN OUR PARTY. BARTENDER & WAITER SNOBBY, PORTIONS SMALL, MENU LIMITED, $$$. THE GOOD DAYS ARE OVER FOR THIS RESTAURANT.
I had made reservations right at 5pm when they opened for dinner for my fiancé’s birthday. Right when we were seated, the waiter knew exactly to greet him immediately which was impressive given some restaurants don’t always tend to look at the notes on the reservation. The views were stunning, the food was amazing, the service was great (our waiter was outgoing and funny). I definitely recommend this restaurant, especially for special occasions.
I came here with my fiance, my cousin and her husband. We did the same thing last year. We did a late lunch/early dinner and wanted to see the sunset. Once again, the Cliff House did not disappoint. The food was excellent. My fiance had the salmon and I had the scallops and prawns over Israeli Couscous. It was delicious. However, my only gripe is that my dish had two scallops and two prawns. It was $30 or $33. The amount of food really wasn't worth the price. If you had plated four of each then, yes, $30 or $33 would have been more worth the price.
When I made the reservations for 3:00PM (Open Table) I had requested window seating. My fiance and I arrived at 1:30PM and had a cocktail while we waited for my cousin. When we went downstairs to check in, we were told that we should have checked in when were first arrived in order to get the window seating. Lesson learned. However, we did have a booth where we did have somewhat of a view so it wasn't all bad.
We will definitely be back.
The Cliff House is an iconic San Francisco restaurant and bar. Great food and service! One of the best places in SF for views and food. Don't miss it!
Just when you may think that it couldn't get any better, it gets better. World class restaurant in a world class setting in a world class city: THE City. It doesn't get any better than the Cliff House.
Chinese waitress service not good! And very rude!
Magnificent views, very beautiful seascapes, food was delicious, and the service was terrific! We enjoyed every minute. Very historical
I love this place- good service and great ocean view
The service was great, the food was fabulous, and the view couldn't be better. The prices are quite high, but for a special occasion it was worth it.
The oysters were awesome and the view was beautiful.
Great service, great food
$$$ but well worth it! Phenomenal views, elegant style, tops in taste!
Front desk people were very unpleasant. My husband was parking and they refused to give me and my parents already reserved table and we had to stand there for 10 minutes until all four were together. Lady at the desk was very rude to us. Annoying experience.
Aside from that, food was excellent
We go here during the holidays to have Crab Louis. It was delicious. We sat at the window. The day was clear it was a delightful experience.
We had a wonderful corner table service was top-notch and the food was excellent it was a totally enjoyable meal
The food was good but a bit pricey. My halibut was $38, more than what might be charged at other restaurants. My starter of crab cakes was just OK - a bit too mushy. I suppose it's because the location has historical significance plus a great view over the Pacific ocean. The waiter and service staff were very attentive and friendly.
The restaurant was very busy that day so service was very slow. Food was great and so was the view.
