We were lucky enough to witness a marvelous sunset while having dinner. Wonderful views looking out the window over the Pacific Ocean. The food was excellent. Great dining experience. Thank you!
Friends were visiting from the East coast and were pleasantly surprised with the great views, food and service.
Good food and beautiful view
Tries to be something it is not - a high end restaurant. Service was slow and unremarkable in working our table. You'd expect better service with the price point of their menu. The view is great, but you don't need to eat at the Cliffhouse to appreciate it. Food was ok, again, unremarkable.
The food was fine, way over priced - the cheapest glass of wine is $17.00 - and the host who was bringing us to
The table was breathing heavy when we mentioned that we would
Prefer sit at another table - not in sunshine.
Awe found her rude.
This is my go to place for guests. It is not inexpensive. However, the prices have gone up since I was last there.
My previous visits I was a walk-in at just ahead of the lunch schedule and got a fabulous table right at the glass. This time I made a reservation for 12:30. I was seated in the downstairs room close to an exit door that was proper open for air. I was told I would have to wait a long time to have a window seat.
It worked out ok for my guests but I was unhappy about seating and the comment.
Sutro’s was the highlight of our first visit to San Francisco. The food and service was excellent, though we didn’t get a window table to fully appreciate the sunset over the Pacific. My wife and I had a wonderful time.
Place is beginning to get a bit out dated. The carpet and chairs are looking old and the paint color could be more modern to give the place nice pick up to bring everything together with the gorgeous view. The food and service was great. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu. Its on the pricey side but worth it for a special occasion.
I had a business meeting over lunch and the server was quite understanding that we were not in a rush and gave us just the right amount of time to discuss things that we needed to discuss but not 'crowd' us.
Our drive there was unusually long. The view of the ocean is always spectacular. Food was pretty good and the service was very good. A bit pricey but expected for a tourist spot. Too bad traveling to the City from the East Bay is so dreadful.
Only for a special occasion, it is a bit pricey for the food and service.
Great food and wonderful view!
Hostess was not a good first impression. I made reservation a week or more ago and requested an ocean view table; we were celebrating our 15th anniversary. She said she didn’t have a ocean view table and then escorted us to our table past a table by the window with a spectacular view. I insisted on the table we passed and she gave it to us. Great table and made our dinner special. Cliff House dining is all about the ocean view in my opinion. Food is good but not outstanding. No wow factor. Michael our server was good although it take some time for him to engage us.
Pricey, but worth the view ! The weather was beautiful and when the fog lifted the view was spectacular! Service was great, and now it's a fulfilled bucket list check mark!
Wish breakfast was an option at 11:30 — not a lot of vegetarian choices.
The food was good but serving ice tea from a bottle and charging for bread was a little much.
Fantastic views. Food was great. Service was excellent
Gobsmacked by the architecture unforgettable.
Everything was delightful!
Dust the place. Seriously. Dust the beams all the way to the ceiling. Dust the blinds. It’s disgusting especially for your prices.
We had a wonderful lunch here celebrating my daughter’s birthday. Everything was outstanding. Starting with the gorgeous views, then moving on to the the fabulous food—the fresh oysters, the crab cakes, the Thai curry bouillabaisse, and the butterscotch pot de creme, and then, let’s not forget the great service. It was an experience we will always remember.
We had a lovely lunch with great food and marvelous service.
We arrived early and they seated us anyway. Our waiter Michael was excellent! The food was superb! Most of all you couldn’t beat the view! Hope we get a chance to return to the Cliff House!
Our waitor was terrible. He almost ruined our whole family occasion. I haven’t experienced this kind of service ever especially in a reataurant rated so high. I did like the food but it wasn’t good enough to cover the service they had. We were given a steak knife after 10 minutes the steak was out and deliberatly tried to ignore our needs. I would NEVER recommend this place to another friend just for the reason they even might meet this particular waitor.
Great food, great views! (Even though the evening was very foggy). We were seated right away and the service was good. The quality value ratio was pretty good, and the desserts amazing.
Food overpriced and not seasoned well. Wanted it to be good. Best thing was the 5 million dollar view we got from our table view.
350.00 for 3 crab Louie’s, 3 ice teas, two crab sandwiches, 2 cream brûlée’s. That’s it!! I’ve been to 5 star restaurants around the world , but I feel this place is a huge rips off!!!!! Oh and the crab and the salad wasn’t even lump crab it was shredded! Go get yourself some friends bread, wine and cheese and enjoy the view else where!
Our waitress, who is from Croatia, was really outstanding! The food was delicious, well prepared and perfectly cooked.
Wasn’t what I expected and the waiter was in a hurry. Didn’t check on us until the end. Took forever to get the bill.
Our waiter was awesome! He recommended some great wine for the discount Tuesday. I wish we were sat next to the window due to the occasion but the food was great.
One of those extraordinary places that we have in San Francisco with a killer view
Our lunch entrees were great and while a little pricey - you ARE playing for the view, too! Makes
it all worth it.
Food was good and the table we were seated at was great, with a great sunset.
Great service, beautiful view, nice food. We arrived and were offered to wait a few minutes in order to get a seat by the window, which was lovely.
Great views and an outstanding location. The only negative is to get parking nearby.
Nothing to write home about
Lovely family dinner. Salmon, duck, steak, risotto, all wonderful
2nd time we have been here for our Anniversary, and again it was fantastic. Both the NY steak and Lamb chips were amazing. So was the old fashioned!
Food was great, a bit pricey but expected for the beautiful view and location. Definitely nice for a special occasion.
too expensive for what it is.... portions are very small and not that special
Great food, service and views!
