Sustenio - Eilan Hotel
The wait person was extremely slow and very distracted.
Great service, food and atmosphere
Great experience. Love the ambiance.
With the wife
Service was not good.
Waitress never even came by to see how good was.
Was very good. Nice selection waiters was great. Was not too busy and they made sure all stations were full. Omelets were great and chef was wonderful. Nice experience. Will try dinner next.
Everything about this restaurant was great. The food was amazing. The service was one of the best I’ve ever had. I would definitely go back.
Everything we ordered was attractive and delicious, and the service was courteous and friendly. The ability to hear and be heard at our table, while not having conversations from other table intrude, was deeply appreciated. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of this as a contribution to Sustenio’s class and ambience!
Filet was a little tough and without much flavor undercooked. Scallops were unremarkable
Disappointing. We were there for the restaurant week brunch. Our reservation was for 2 pm and we got there early but they seated us anyway so that was great. However they were out of food, or what was there was dried up or cold. It seemed like the hotel itself was beautiful/high end so Ken would expect a certain level from the restaurant but there wasn’t. For example they had yogurt but no bowls. The condiment service bowls were crusted over and dirty, they had smoked salmon and some fixings however no crustini or plain bagel to put it on. Just a wheat like bread or flavored bagels. Omelette station was unmanned until there was a small crowd gathered then someone showed up. Charcuterie was dry and nasty. And so on.
Service was excellent. We went for the Brunch Buffett. The food was ok but some of the hot dishes were cold. Don’t think they have a special enough selection of food to charge what they do for brunch. I’d rather go to a restaurant where I can get a dish that I can’t make my self at home. Overall a good experience, I’d just step up the food options!
Nice Sunday Brunch at Sustenio. Some items needed to be replaced more frequently or be kept warmer, but everything was tasty, service was good.
We visited for Restaurant Week. I enjoyed the tuna crevice, crab-cakes and the scallops. My friend got the steak and shrimp and those were amazing! Enjoy!
The service was very good. The food was good but the desert was mediocre. The wine list is huge!
The setting for this restaurant is scenic--a planned development that will remind you more of Las Vegas or California than San Antonio. We've eaten here multiple times and this was the first time there was a shortfall in the service. Our waitress was pleasant but obviously over-extended with multiple tables plus a very large group in a separate room. Food quality was consistent with the price. The wine list is very broad with better pricing than many restaurants of equal quality. Noise is very high due to hard surfaces everywhere and a busy room.
We dined on 1/21/2019 (Monday) for the Restaurant Week menu, with a 6:30 reservation, four people, two checks requested. We were greeted by the server fairly quickly, who rushed by saying "I'll be with you shortly." After a delay, she was back to take drink orders -- it was almost 30 minutes after we ordered until we saw her with our drinks (a glass of wine, tonic with a twist, and a beer), and finally ordered. This was the trend of the entire evening -- long absences where we saw her nowhere in the restaurant. We received no apologies for the disappearances/delays in service.
The restaurant week food was wonderful but the service, greatly lacking for any restaurant, but, especially for one of this status and caliber! The food was excellent, creative, and of a very high caliber.
Then, insult was added to injury: As the checks were delivered for payment, she noted "there is a gratuity already on the bill". This was a total surprise, not noted on the menu, and never mentioned by her before this moment. We assumed that meant 20%. The server should have been embarrassed, knowing the level of service she had delivered. The gratuity added was THIRTY PERCENT! Our service was worth about 10%, being kind, if it was worth anything. I will follow with a call to the Manager today to complain about the service and the gratuity charge.
Tried Sustenio for the first time during Restaurant Week. We were impressed with the upscale ambience. The special menu was a good value. We had a very tasty French onion soup, pasta with wild mushrooms, and dessert. All in all a very satisfactory dining experience. We would definitely try it again.
Brunch food was cold. They should refill more often
The hotel is beautiful and the restaurant is inviting. Unfortunately, and I am sad to say that the restaurant management has a lot to work on. I know that I should describe my experience here; however, I have written a letter with photos to the restaurant manager.
Excellent service friendly staff great ambience and food will return
It was our 46 wedding anniversary we shared with two other couples. Although we sat in the bar until the rest of our party arrived there was no mention or recognition from anyone in the restaurant. I was disappointed about this as 46 years is becoming more rare among married people who feel divorce is the answer to their marital problems instead of working things out. Also I rated my food low but those who had the steaks said they were good. So my rating balanced out to the middle. Three of us ordered the Shrimp linguine dish which we could eat very little of because the seasoning was too hot for our taste. A waste of $22. Ambiance and waiter and bartender were good. No complaints there. Perry’s Steakhouse will continue to be my first choice at least they recognize anniversaries even place rose petals on the table for the occasion and their steaks melt in your mouth. Sorry Sustenio maybe another time for me maybe not.
The new year day brunch was poor in selection . Charcuterie was poor and we have to ask to fill it. No bread selection only crackers.
No comparison with Sunday’s brunch. No omelette section.
No smoked salmon. New Years brunch should be richer than any other day of the year brunch.
Manager was outstanding. Challenges were placing us at a table in front of heavy trafficed path whrn other tabkes were available. We were moved after we asked. Mimosas and being served were slow. Bread pudding cold and not fully cooked. Pluses included great black drum fish, as well as most brunch items.
Ambiance- Food etc was excellent! Service was slow
Delicious food, great ambiance, beautiful live music.
I have to admit, been very disappointed over the last year with the restaurant it seems to have been taking a decline. We used to come there at least 1-2 times a month and I feel our last visit confirms that my family and I need to find a new favorite restaurant to go to now. The quality of the food is below average, before it was something delicious that we looked forward to.
We were celebrating our anniversary and the whole staff was very nice and a-commentating. The food was very good.
Price on FB advertising was very different on the bill for the breakfast buffet?!?!
Enjoyed the Sunday Brunch very much. Fabulous selections from the buffet. Will definitely go back again.
Had a great cocktail at the bar and then a killer lamb dinner. Wife had a great flat bread pizza. Had a killer band. They said they are just starting the band thing. Made for a great evening!
It was a perfect atmosphere for discussions regarding veteran affairs.
We went on a Sunday night and was quite shocked by the emptiness. The food was great but not too expensive. Bright enough to read the menus but dark enough to seem intimate. Quiet atmosphere with pleasant background music playing. Will definitely return.
OK now this place needs to be a kept secret for quality food at a reasonable price. We have eaten at almost every 4 star in San Antonio and this one is in top 3 now for us. Flavorable, hot and great service. Don’t forget to get there before 7pm for happy hour too everyday.
Elegant location in the back of the Elian Hotel complex off I-10. Went and dined from the Restaurant Week menu. Service was superb and friendly. Filet and shrimp was very well prepared and tasty. Ahi Tuna ceviche appetizer was excellent, my friend who had the strawberry salad was raving about it. I had mango sorbet for dessert and it was spot on. Free valet parking if you're dining. Quiet enough to have a nice conversation, which is important to me as I hate really loud places unless I'm there for a concert, race or airshow....Highly recommended.
Redfish was coiked just right. Great drinks and nice ambiance.
Best Restaurant Week menu! Nancy was very attentive and friendly.
Very great service from our server Adonis. He deserves a raise so accomodating and attentive
Service was horrible. Food was not worth the cost of the meal. My mom ordered the soup which had no flavor by the time the waitress finally came by to check on us. Our entree was being served. When they did finally bring a replacement for the soup, it was the wrong salad. The linginue was flavorless, we had not added shrimp to the order it would have been just a large bowl of flavorless pasta. Was very disappointed because I hear such great things about the food. it was so noisy that we could nearly hear the waitress or speak to one another. overall not a good experience and very price.
We went for our anniversary and we had the filet mignon with shrimp off the restaurant week menu. Food was delicious but even though restaurant was quiet we did not receive good service. Server took a long time to come to table when we arrived and then another 15 minutes to get drinks. Server was visiting other tables and we had to try and get her attention when we wanted water or drink refill. Yet she seemed to be refilling wine and water for other tables. Asked for additional sauce when meal arrived but never received and then had to wait another 20 minutes after we finished dinner to ask for check and then wait yet again for her to pick up cc pymt. So just disappointed in what should have been a wonderful night out to celebrate our anniversary
Food is significantly improved over prior years, but still a little inconsistent. My chop was over cooked, even burned (vs. "charred"). Most everything else was good to very good. Wine list tends toward the triple digits, but a few decent bottles are $40.
