Great food and service!
Came here while my sushi-loving sister was in town. We’ve tried a few higher end sushi restaurants in the city but SushiNao has been the best by far! We did the Bliss tasting which was definitely worth the $54. Every course was delicious, and we especially liked the toro and albacore tuna sashimi, and the squid sashimi. There were some unique flavor combinations that I’ve never tried before, or have even thought to try, that all turned out very pleasant. We left feeling full where some of these places require a dollar slice after the meal. I will 100% be back!
A very pleasant restaurant. The sushi was quite good, and the room was quiet on a Wednesday evening. Presentation of sushi was unusual, and the menu encourages ordering one of the standard assortments rather than a la carte, which is what we generally prefer We'll return.
I dined here two nights in a row! Need I say more?
Loved this place! Sushi was delicious and service was beyond my expectations! They had a dessert and candle for my friends birthday as I noted it in my reservation!
Delicious, simple clean. Beautiful presentation. Great service.
SushiNao is a hidden gem. Great food, great service, and great atmosphere. It is an excellent experience for any sushi enthusiast.
Stickiest rice ever
The food came out really fast, which is usually a plus. However, in this setting, it somehow seemed a bit rushed. Maybe it would've been better if the sushi came in groups of threes instead of groups of sixes. The rice of the sushi seemed a bit too sticky for sushi. It stuck to the plate a little. Otherwise, the fish and the sauce that came with the sushi really was amazing, and the ambiance was great.
Lovely zen atmosphere. Delicious inventive sushi. There are 3 choices of prix fixe. Shared the $34 and $44 options which was plenty for two. Each piece was amazing. Came with edamame and miso. Extensive sake list. I don’t like sake so didn’t try any but there are many choices. Service was a bit rushed but friendly. Terrific little place.
Very friendly, intimate, with most delicious sushi we have ever had, simple 3 - 4 level prix fixe menu.
for omakase, it was fantastic. great quality fish, lovely service. so smart to bring omakase to the people and this does it perfectly. would absolutely go back.
Perfect service and food
The place is very nice and the food is good but they don’t have regular sashimi...other than that it’s very good.
fabulous - delicious omakase, quiet and great service
Very good sushi and lovely space
One of the best sushi experiences for the value.

What a gem of a restaurant! You feel as if you've been invited by the chef to eat a traditional Japanese multi-course meal at his home, with a view of a lovely rock garden. The sauces and attention to detail are exquisite in each piece of sushi, and the prices for various omakase sets - $24 to $54 - are reasonable. Can't wait to return!
This was the best Sushi we ever had. The Uber dropped us off in front of the restaurant, first we could not find the restaurant, the entrance and the area does not look like a restaurant this class. The sushi was amazing, the restaurant was very clean and the staff was very friendly. This will be our favorite Sushi place in New York.
Food is too salty
If you are not looking for it, you could easily miss the narrow entrance on 17th St. , west of 8th Ave. That would be a shame. What lies ahead is your choice of beautifully prepared omakase sets - pick the size to match your hunger level. There is also an excellent sake list. This hidden jewel of a restaurant even has a little Zen garden. If there is any criticism it is that the sushi is not served one piece at a time; rather, it comes in waves, accompanied by a side of perfectly steamed/salted edamame included. I have been back three times and will continue to do so - the quality is superb.
Excellent service and delicious sushi
Just delightful. Authentic, delicious, and a sort of oasis in the middle of the bustling city with its beautiful rock garden.
Always I am not disappointed with Sushinao.
Good taste and price all the time.
High quality of sushi with low price set menu
Always look forward to a night at SushiNao! A great place to catch up with a friend, go on a date or have a culinary adventure with a group.
About a year ago, I came here for brunch and it was fantastic. My dinner experience this past weekend was a little disappointing. It was loud and the service was not great. Our waitress and waiters were nice but the waiters were very rough when setting and clearing our plates. They were a bit sloppy by forgetting to clear some of the bowls after a course. One of the waiters spoke too fast when describing the dishes and things felt a little rushed. This did not feel like a true Japanese restaurant to me. The service can improve and more thoughful.
Outstanding place overall! Excellent value! Highly recommended!
4 set menu choices with the option to add extra rolls. Bottle of wine + dinner for 4 girls was $52 each, which is a great deal for sushi in NYC. Everything was delicious!
Food here consistently fell short of our expectations. Service wasn’t great either. Probably more of a tourist spot than anything.
Since the decor and ambience was beautiful, we really looking forward to the eating our food. We got the please course for two people and were so underwhelmed. We eat sushi quiet frequently and tbh other than the salmon, tuna, and toro, we couldn’t taste any of the other fishes. The flavor of the fish was so mild/bland. I don’t know maybe it’s just me and my taste buds are trash ... but I was kind of disappointed since I’ve heard such good reviews about the place. Food aside, this place is really nice. The service was excellent, And the decoration was beautiful. It felt like we were in Japan. Everyone that sat around us were on dates so it was classy and the vibe was good.
Great place to take a date for a full on sushi experience at a great value
Strangely enough, they charge $2.00 for not much of extra ginger. No other restaurant that we know does that.
only go here if you are a sushi ?(and not sashimi) fanatic. it was delicious but way too much rice for me. also, aside from edamame, there isn't a single veg on the menu. very pretty place, waited forever for sake.
Great entry into the world of sushi tasting menus. The food was excellent and a very good amount of sushi for the price compared to other places.
Second time as good as the first. Outstanding sushi. Beautiful presentation. You choose a set menu. No options. Note: No uni. Excellent sake list.
Quality sushi served in lovely surroundings tucked away in Chelsea. Excellent service, but unusual: Omakase offerings are in set groups with no substitutions. Carefully prepared, beautifully presented. If you are happy with your “set” choice, it’s quite lovely as you overlook a small zen garden. First rate sake menu.
Quite authentic good quality Japanese food.
First of all, this restaurant is hard to spot from the outside. You can easily miss it if you didn't know of this place. Inside is pretty spacious than I thought. The Maitre'D was very friendly. About the food, it was very good for the price. The fishes are all locally sourced, common fishes. No specially imported fish. And I feel like some of the fishes are slightly thinly sliced. Bottom line, this is a good place to start if you are not a sushi connoisseur or if you just want to have a casual sushi dinner. There are no sushi bars. All sushi are prepared in the kitchen and brought to your table so no pressure here even if you eat it the wrong way. I would go back for an economical sushi set. Oh, I have to say the "shari" ( sushi rice ) is very authentic and good.
