4 set menu choices with the option to add extra rolls. Bottle of wine + dinner for 4 girls was $52 each, which is a great deal for sushi in NYC. Everything was delicious!

Food here consistently fell short of our expectations. Service wasn’t great either. Probably more of a tourist spot than anything.

Since the decor and ambience was beautiful, we really looking forward to the eating our food. We got the please course for two people and were so underwhelmed. We eat sushi quiet frequently and tbh other than the salmon, tuna, and toro, we couldn’t taste any of the other fishes. The flavor of the fish was so mild/bland. I don’t know maybe it’s just me and my taste buds are trash ... but I was kind of disappointed since I’ve heard such good reviews about the place. Food aside, this place is really nice. The service was excellent, And the decoration was beautiful. It felt like we were in Japan. Everyone that sat around us were on dates so it was classy and the vibe was good.

Strangely enough, they charge $2.00 for not much of extra ginger. No other restaurant that we know does that.

only go here if you are a sushi ?(and not sashimi) fanatic. it was delicious but way too much rice for me. also, aside from edamame, there isn't a single veg on the menu. very pretty place, waited forever for sake.

Great entry into the world of sushi tasting menus. The food was excellent and a very good amount of sushi for the price compared to other places.

Second time as good as the first. Outstanding sushi. Beautiful presentation. You choose a set menu. No options. Note: No uni. Excellent sake list.

Quality sushi served in lovely surroundings tucked away in Chelsea. Excellent service, but unusual: Omakase offerings are in set groups with no substitutions. Carefully prepared, beautifully presented. If you are happy with your “set” choice, it’s quite lovely as you overlook a small zen garden. First rate sake menu.

First of all, this restaurant is hard to spot from the outside. You can easily miss it if you didn't know of this place. Inside is pretty spacious than I thought. The Maitre'D was very friendly. About the food, it was very good for the price. The fishes are all locally sourced, common fishes. No specially imported fish. And I feel like some of the fishes are slightly thinly sliced. Bottom line, this is a good place to start if you are not a sushi connoisseur or if you just want to have a casual sushi dinner. There are no sushi bars. All sushi are prepared in the kitchen and brought to your table so no pressure here even if you eat it the wrong way. I would go back for an economical sushi set. Oh, I have to say the "shari" ( sushi rice ) is very authentic and good.

We arrived on a Thursday night w reservation but a little early. Service was gracious but a little stretched. We ordered and food and beverage arrived but no one noticed we didn’t have chopsticks. They quickly brought them and rearranged our service, even noticing my date was a lefty. However, they had also forgotten napkins...not sure what was going on that night. Will update. Certainly returning- a treasure found in an unusual spot. Didn’t compromise on quality of food or ambience. Went all out and got the biggest set - wasn’t disappointed but note to menu creators here. There should probably be more of a gradient in price based on type rather than amount of sushi. Case in point, the most expensive set probably could do w/out rolls. Save rolls for the smaller sets to ‘bulk’ out amount of food you get.

Ordered the 500 ml of ‘snow’ sake - both my date and I were a little overwhelmed by how sweet it was. Perhaps a little more guidance on the servers part may have been needed. Could have done without.

Well I just did a surgery and I cannot eat seafood. I used to be a customer with them and they had beef and chicken. But they have change the menu to a seafood only restaurant, so I end up eating literally nothing and let my friend eat. Just be aware.

Hidden gem below ground near the Joyce Theatre. Authentic inspired sushi. Early dinner was smart idea since I suspect this place is jumping later in the evening. Creative tiramisu for dessert. Lovely setting

I used to frequent SushiNao when it was Naoki Takahashi and I think the Japanese food scene has lost what was such a unique restaurant. I think the chef was much more well versed in the kaiseki style of dining than sushi. I felt he had done such an excellent job of pairing his course selections and everything was so well flavored, ranging from robust to subtle. The new menu focused on sushi here felt lacking in flavor, with only a few pieces eliciting a happy reaction. The value is tremendous...I had the Bliss menu and felt overly full considering there were 12 sizeable pieces of sushi + two handrolls + more. But the meal itself left me wanting as did the presentation. Also...additional ginger is at a $2 surcharge which I have never experienced elsewhere...particularly if you were seeking more ginger when the initial ration given was smaller than everyone else's. Service was fine and the space itself is absolutely lovely.

We ordered the Pleasure and Delight for dinner. The quality of fish is average/mediocre, the choice is limited-the daily carpaccio is tuna, and the fish has no taste. There’re lots of better and tastier sushi places around.

As of this writing, SushiNao is first and foremost an improbably good value. The menu may not be as encyclopedic as some, but the quality is remarkable and the presentation matches. Moreover, this is a civilized placed to dine with low noise levels. Frankly, I’m worried it’s not sustainable in the New York market, but I intend to enjoy it as much as I can, while I can.

i had 'Bliss' Dinner course.
food is good, proper portion, and topped ingerdients on sushi are all fresh as well so it definitely worth it. (i really into their *sweet shrimp and unagi* especially )
i also had their mochi ice cream, they have 15 kinds of it.
it is kinda small icecream so i tired Matcha, Chocolate and Raspberry. good for dessert.
but sushi rice loose its shape (crack in half) easily .
also quite noisy but it still has nice interior and atmosphere.

Simple, "purist" selection of sushi, some with subtle Japanese flavors that really enhance the experience. The atmosphere is like being transported to Japan. This place is a great middle ground between the "mass-market" sushi places (no rainbow rolls here!) and the ridiculously-expensive omakase sushi places like Masa. We will definitely be back!

The place was very nice, service was good, but the food was adequate. We were served the tuna carpaccio twice as part of the $54 tasting menu. The tuna carpaccio was served as the daily carpaccio and as the special market dish. Different serving bowls but exacting the same item- tuna pieces, ponzu sauce, and radish sprouts. Very surprising that they would serve the same dish twice. The rest of the food was fresh and tasty but nothing impressive. They also provided a wet nap instead of a wet towel to start the meal. I recommend they use the wet cloth instead.

Did not live up to the hype. Nothing at all special about the sushi ( really kind of ordinary). Pretty place but not reminiscent of special dinners in Japan as the social media touts. Service inexperienced.

To enter SushiNao, you walk down a mysterious, narrow path between two buildings and into a beautiful restaurant with a serene garden to look upon while you eat their sublime, subtle, mouth-watering sushi. Each bite contains many flavors, all distinct. We had the "Pleasure" selection and it was indeed filled with pleasure. I can't wait to return!

A very nice dinning experience. Would have preferred to sit near the garden area which seemed much calmer then where we sat - a little further towards the back.
The food was good. Maybe some of the fish or presentation could use a bit more refinement. Personal dipping bowls of soy sauce would also be very welcoming.
Enjoyed our experience minus how loud it gets in the back dinning area.

Definitely amazing value for good quality and quantity of food. Couple items I was whatever about, such as the bonito sushi piece, and the the handrolls were mediocre. The nori has to be crunchier
