The four of us filled the place and had a great “private” experience. The sushi was fresh. Since the sitting was only an hour it felt a bit rushed. They weren’t ready at 6 and we had to wait to be seated. And that’s a domino effect that continues through out the evening.
One comment i have is related to the hostess. They were friendly and helpful. But I’ve thing turned us off. It was my friend’s birthday. She is the only one out of the 4 us that drinks. So she ordered the sake pairing. The rest of us had water. The hostess told us e should (order alcohol to) celebrate the birthday with drinks. We politely declined. When my friend was served her sake, the hostess had a shot of sake in hand, came over, and told me friend she would toast with her foot her birthday. The 3 of us also made a toast with our friend m, with our water. The hostess made a comment “you cannot toast with water!!” I was really surprise to hear that. “Did she just think out loud?” was my thought. It was inappropriate and unprofessional. While I understand restaurants make a good profit selling alcohol, a hostess/waiter should not mock the customers who don’t drink. If she REALLY though her statement was true, she should have poured a tiny bit of sake into 3 cups for us (or gave us a soft drink) so we could make the proper toast in her book. It was after all a birthday celebration. Other restaurants would offer the birthday person a free dessert, a slice of cage or simmering.
This was such an amazing experience! The ambiance in a converted hotel room was so different and quaint. Sushi of course was incredible as always. Highly recommend this experience, will definitely be back!
I love this space, experience and everything about the Omakase. This is my second time this year and I'll be back again.
My favorite sushi experience in nyc. Fish is incredible and couldn’t ask for better atmosphere / people. Highly highly recommended.
Fun experience and definitely worth the money. Service was on top of it and very friendly.
Amazing experience and hosting - it's not for everyone but reasonably priced given the exclusive experience
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Suite 1001. Chef Kevin was stellar, the food was top notch, service was excellent and we loved the decor. We had the terrace all to ourselves both before and after dinner. A very intimate and delicious meal.
With only 4 seats, and lower cost than many omekasi meals, you might wonder if there would be sacrifices in other areas... but, no. Sushi Suite 1001 is fantastic from the hotel lobby check in to get your room key, to arrival at the posh suite with outdoor bar, where you can mingle with a few more folks, through the wonderful personally handcrafted omekasi meal. I will be returning with VIP guests as soon as possible, for this unique and tasty experience.
Wow! Fantastic service. Chef Kevin was a pleasure and his preparations fabulous. A truly memorable and enjoyable dining event. So intimate. Almost like dining in a small home.
Suite 1001 is an interesting concept with some creative nigiri. There’s a little bit of contrived coolness but the service is top rate nonetheless. Monica was very friendly and our Sushi chef whose name escapes me at the moment was very personable while remaining professional. All in all some really tasty non traditional bites. Where it falters could be on value or maybe I was just really hungry, because I could have used another hand roll and a few more pieces.
Also certain pieces were over powered with soy or ponzu but this is really nit picky and I should clarify that it’s in comparison to other sushi havens in the same or higher price tiers. In a bubble it’s delicious and worth a repeat.
Its a neat experience. Value is ok if you dont ask for any extras and stick to green tea or tap water. drink prices even for sparkiling water are high and at $9 for an ordinary piece of extra nigiri (not toro or caviar etc.) it can get pricey quick if you're hungry!
Best Omakase experience in NYC!!
Food and experience was great, however we're disappointed in the value. An automatic tip of over 25% was charged on our bill, which seems extremely high. They used the $40 free drinks they gave us to calculate the tip as well, which ended up making the free drink not worth it to us and had we known we would not have done it. They also did not warn us that the session was finishing. They gave us our last piece and said ok you're done you need to get up now so we can prepare for the next guests. Would not go back to this location, the other Sushi by Bou locations are definitely better.
Amazing service and experinxe
The best sushi restaurant in NYC!!!!
Fresh fish it was delicious awesome chef
Amazing! Sushi unlike anything I’ve had and experience and ambience was A+.
The service was great from the very beginning till the very end. Amazing drinks selection and the sushi was even better then I could imagine. Will consider going back.
I enjoyed the dinner even though I found it very difficult understanding the chefs explanation of the food. 17 courses and still needed to eat afterwards. The staff were fun and friendly. I wouldn't list it as the best omakase but if you have the money it's a fun night out.
The speakeasy downstairs was OK but I would've preferred to sit on the balcony prior for a drink
