Sushi Sasabune Glendale
Sasabune is known as one of the earliest and the best "Omakase" Edo style sushi restaurant in Los Angeles for over 20 years.
Owner chef Nobi Kusuhara opened Sasabune in West LA in 1993 and newest location in
Glendale opened in 2015.
Head chef / owner Genji Sato used to work in West LA location and learned all the skills from Nobi.
Trust me!

Sassabune Glendale has the best sushi I have had in LA and NY.. the quality of fish and the attention to detail is exceptional. Their omakase is well executed and the chef and servers take time to explain how to eat the fish being presented and enjoy it to the fullest.
I have been coming here for the past 3 years and was never disappointed.
Five sushi stars !!
Lovely staffs nice dishes
Excellent sushi. The menu is limited but the food is uniformly wonderful. Very pleasant and attentive staff.
The main hostess was not friendly but the wait staff was very nice. Fish was not as fresh as expected base on prior reviews. No dessert with omakase. Perhaps it is not as good due to COVID. But would not be returning.
Sushi Sasabune was delicious. Would love to go back, especially when Covid19 is behind us.
Went here during COVID, so seating was outside. I actually felt the timing was great, and the amount of food was a lot! I actually couldn't finish. The fish quality was excellent, but sometimes I really do wish I could have great sushi without spending a fortunate and I had found those place but now they are gone :(
Easily the best sushi I have had. Its going to cost you a bit, but its an amazing experience. With the outdoor experience, they actually delivered quite well! Our waitress was very nice and good at her job! The chef was also quite nice and personable and helped us find the correct area for dining.
fish was very fresh, excellent service. we would definitely come back again
Best sushi we’ve had ! Fresh and always tasty ! Highly recommend
Food and service was amazing. I wouldn’t expect this omakase spot in Glendale! What a gem!!!
Dinner took 2.5 hours which is crazyyyy, every two pieces of the omakase came out every 15-20 minutes, my gf timed it, we were both in shock. Ended up hungry and not satisfied at all. Also beware of ordering omakase because they do not have a system to keep track of it. My gf and I were both shafted when they tried to end our meal without giving us our two remaining items, which values at around $20-$30. My gf didnt even want her items because she wanted to leave so badly. I had to bring it up to the server. It was really bad for a high end restaurant. Not romantic as there are kids there crying. Overall feeling, the restaurant did not care for us, and focused on other tables, food came out sooooooooooooo slow and it wasn’t even busy. My gf and I agreed that we’d never go back...out of the last ten years it was the worst dinner date we had ever been on...tbh...
Expensive but worth it. The food was beautiful and the small version of chefs choice was enough for us. We also ordered the green tea cake a la mode. It was fantastic.
Real sushi. No tempura no California rolls!
Excellent all the way around.
Best and freshest sushi we’ve had.
I love this place so much. The sushi is incredible. We are so lucky to have this in Glendale.
Just too expensive - good quality but not good enough to warrant price
Everything was delicious and reasonably priced for Omakase. You should go.
Don't let the location throw you. It's situated in an office building between two discount sit-down restaurants but the food here is a world apart. The omakase is one of the best in town. A bit on the expensive side but worth every penny for quality sushi prepared with care and creativity. A real treat.
It’s okay. Parking is easy, which is nice. The restaurant did not seem to have air conditioning so it was way too hot. I had to ask for water 4 times before I got any. Food was tasty but nothing like the original Sasabune and not worth the $$
Extremely slow and inattentive service. For the price, the food was underwhelming. Presentation was terrible , portions were small, quality was just adequate. For the prices they were charging I would expect at least two of the three criteria I mentioned would be much MUCH higher. I don’t think I’ll ever go to a Sasabune again.
The Sushi & Sashimi here is amazing !
I will be back & highly recommend it now knowing what to expect
There are no hot vegetable options on the menu but wonderful cold seaweed salads are available .... & miso soup is available if you request it
Finding the Restruant was tricky
It’s inside an office building on the second floor
We love Sasabune so much. It brings the sushi experience usually found to the west right to our little cornball Glendale.
Jyst the best! But expensive!
I won't recommend unless they want to burn money. Too pricey for the ambiance! There are a lot nicer eating places around with great sushi taste and the ambiance is even better! I will not come back to this place again.
Very limited menu
Probably the best sushi in Glendale. The quality is on par with Sugarfish, but Sasabune's flavor profile is more individual and unique. Definitely get the omakase for the best experience.
Sasabune is an omakase restaurant. The sushi chef made interesting choices and interesting sushi combinations - a wider variety than at other omakase shops. The taste was good, and the price was reasonable. The omakase meal comes with no soup or dessert, which are a la carte. Sake choices were interesting and easy, as well. The place seems popular, and the full tables created quit a bit of noise.
What a delicious find! Difficult location, but definitely worth the effort. Freshest fish ever. Wonderful meal with family!
Exceptional quality sushi - the bluefin tuna is my favorite at this location. Everyone I’ve taken here has truly enjoyed the experience. This is sushi to savor, to enjoy chewing every piece thoroughly.
The lychee ice cream to top off the meal is the best my family has ever had.
It’s not every day sushi to gobble down if you’re hungry or in a rush.
Sushi was too expensive for quality and portions. Portions were very small. Misobsoup was bland and wasabi was watered down. Service was okay but would not recommend for the price.
INCREDIBLE! Some of the best sushi I’ve ever had. Decided to do omakase and every single piece of fish was fresh, and absolutely delicious. Expensive but worth every penny
Always a great experience. Been going to Sasabune in Honolulu for 10 years. Glendale location is excellent.
The food was delicious, so soft it melted in my mouth. It was pricey but worth the amount charged.
Best sushi in the town.
Without question some of the best sushi in LA. Incredibly fresh & perfectly made. Service is impeccable. Overall a great experience. May be tough to find but well worth it. A totally different level of sushi than nearly every other place.
Sasabune is wonderful and consistent. We can't afford to eat like this often but when we have a special occasion,.this is the spot.
I have been here twice while visiting LA and will definitely come back! We had Omakase both times and loved the food and experience!
Great food. Love the fact that this is authentic and they have a sign that saws no California or Rainbow rolls!
Amazing sushi! Very expensive but the best we have had
