About Sushi Sasa

Sushi Sasa is designed to offer Denver the opportunity to enjoy Traditional and "New Style" Japanese cuisine harmoniously beneath one roof. The seasonal, healthy, beautiful and affordable tasting menu compliments the fully functioning sushi bar bridging the gap between East coast innovation and West coast charm. Bilingual chefs man the sushi bar at the rear of the zen-like space and offer up exotic fish and produce from around the world with the heart of the cuisine remaining Japanese. With a wonderful sake and wine list and a cozy downstairs lounge, Sushi Sasa is a perfect place for a business lunch or a nice dinner with friends.

Always a wonderful experience. I miss the tempura scallops that they used to have on the menu and the variety of rolls is limited. However the fish is amazing.

The sushi is fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. But, you pay for it--among the most expensive sushi in town. The tempura is dense, oily, heavy on starchy veg (potato, squash), and the shrimp miniscule.

The sushi bar is at the back of the restaurant and the tables in the front room are packed closely together, so be prepared to hear every bit of your neighbor's (often boisterous) conversations, as you compete to converse with your own companions. The service is pleasant, but we had to wait a long time to get an unclean plate replaced; same with two dirty glasses.

Valet parking is free--a nice service for this crowded area, even on a Thursday evening.

This is my favorite Sushi restaurant in Denver and this trip did not disappoint. Place is pretty happening even for a mid-week lunch. Not many people when we arrived at noon but the place had no available seats (in the main room) by the time we left around 1pm. I highly recommend that one makes a reservation.

Great Service and Food but I would prob go to Isakaya from now on. When I made a reservation for 2 i was hoping it was a table and I was surprised when hostess walked us to the sushi bar. I would have like to know that i was being seated there as oppose to a table.

As always, the food is exceptional. Although service is usually also exceptional, this time it was not, only barely good. And the room could use a little sprucing up. Toto toilets, though, are awesome.

Service is impeccable. Food is undeniably fresh and presentation never disappoints. The garlic lemon edamame is outrageously good.

The decor is a bit sterile and plain, but that makes your food pop even more. Still very clean and nice, just not inviting and comfortable nor anything to rave about looks-wise.

I reserved a table for New Year’s Eve 4 days in advance(my anniversary) expecting to get sat at a table in either the main or offshoot dining area... instead I was placed at the sushi bar (next to a kid) and when I asked to move they sat me in the basement at a crappy table w a musty smell. Normally my review would be nothing but praise and excitement, but the hamachi w strawberry and Serrano had no Serrano (compared to multiple previous visits) and 1 strawberry slice. I don’t ask for perfection (which they usually deliver) but this was so below par I have to wonder if there is a new manager? Wholly underwhelmed and wishing I had spent my special occasion somewhere else :(

This place is great. We had a great time for our date/birthday night. The seating is close but still comfortable. The service is good - a little slow but was due to being very busy. This place is not for a quick eat. Sushi was very fresh and amazing taste. Drinks were great and saki selection and recommendations were right on. Can’t wait to go back.

Unfortunately, I think there are better sushi places around. The ambiance was nice. It took us about 40 minutes to get our food. Apparently a big party had been seated before us, and that is why. However, our server never came around to tell us this, and we had been trying to flag her down for about 10 minutes but she wasn't anywhere to be found. So when the food finally arrived, she told us that this is why it was late. The sushi itself was fine-nothing special at all, or particularly tasty. And for the price, given that the sushi was just fine-it made it expensive in comparison. So I think I'd probably go to another place (since there are many that aren't far away) instead.

We had a group at our table with everyone ordering different things. So when they brought us the wrong things we had no idea even though we all asked if anyone ordered it and so ended up eating it even though it wasn't really what, we wanted. The person who delivered it said it was what we ordered and lied about which rolls they were even though it didn't look right to us. The table that actually ordered what we had must have said something Because the waiter came over and apologized and said that That they would get the right thing to us. Then we got the exact wrong rolls as before. This time we knew what, they looked like and sent. It back without eating and watched it go to the table next to us. When we got the bill we first didn't look and just put credit card in there. Then later I looked and we were billed for all the rolls. Even ones we didn't order. Too late we had already paid. We were even charged for a roll we never recieved since we cancelled some since we are full eating the rolls we didn't order and didn't want. The service wasn't great.

Sushi Sasa used to be a favorite. we had not been there in 4 years and were very disappointed. We like the ambiance and our server was very good. Appetizers came quickly and were tasty. We order sushi rolls and they took 50 minutes to arrive after ordering. The server apologized twice for how long it was taking. The sushi was pretty average at best. Sushi Hapa (which is much closer to us) is way better. the restaurant did not do anything to try to make it up to us. This was the last time we will go there. Kind of sad since it was once a favorite.

Sushi Sasa has the best sushi in Denver - that hasn't changed in the 5 years I've been coming here. My below review in no way reflect the quality of their food, drinks and our waitress - that was all amazing!

Everything was above expectations!...until it was time to pay. I had a $50 Open Table credit - something I researched before using because the process changed. It used to be a gift card that OpenTable would send out - now you make a reservation and the $50 credit is applied.

The frustration came because I never got an e-mail from OpenTable saying they would send an e-giftcard to my e-mail DURING our dinner. Our reservation was at 5:00pm. I then made a 2nd "fake" reservation at 7:15pm while trying to close out, and that is when the e-gift card was sent to my e-mail and loaded onto my app. While I blame OpenTable for the lack of explanation of what to expect and steps I needed to take to apply the credit, and the fact that it wasn't loaded with my first, real reservation, it was frustrating that the Owner/Executive Chef knew of the situation and put it on the bartender (a friend of ours) to try and work out the mistake while standing in front of us.

After 45 minutes of explaining what was on my end, showing them the app reservation, the e-mail, making a second reservation, etc. I was finally able to load a gift card through the app and give them the number

So to both entities: OpenTable needs to work out the bug that didn't send the e-gift card the first time AND better explain the process to its customers and Sushi Sasa (i.e. Owner/Executive Chef) needed to honor the $50 and settle it with OpenTable (as they had my reservation number, name, etc.) after closing us out so we didn't deal with it for 45+ minutes after dinner on a Sunday night.
