The food is fresh and tasty. The ambiance is great. I come to Sushi-San often for amazing service and awesome food.
I was running behind and despite being late for my reservation they greeted me with a smile and got us seated within minutes of arriving. The service was outstanding from the host to the waiters everything was perfect!
We decided to try a little bit of everything I can honestly say you can’t go wrong with the entire menu. If I had to pick one thing that stood out the most I would definitely say the scallop appetizer they offer do yourself a favor just order the 5pc! And ditch the chopsticks for this dish it falls apart instantly and you won’t want to miss a bite.
Overall I had an amazing experience! I will definitely be back!
The food was incredible. Every dish and every roll had complex ingredients that elevated the food to another level. Highly, highly recommend.
Overall it was ok. We had the Vietnamese pork and wagyu skewer which was really great! Then we ordered sushi blue fin tuna, tempura shrimp and another sushi which O have forgotten already. Taste wise was ok nothing special as you keep eating then it seems like all sushi tasted the same no other distinct flavor. They also have house-made wasabi soysauce dip which was really good! Then we ordered a sashimi otoro (fatty) top with tartare. We didnt expect it to be like that. By the look itself it was not edible for us. Its too raw or the presentation was something wrong. We’ve had couple of sashimi in other restaurant or sushi place but it was ok and edible looking. We ordered three piece once of each but only one of us was brave enough to try. To finished it off we ordered the Fluffy Japanese pancake! Which was amazing! It’s to die for! Very soft and it melts in your mouth! If I wasn’t stuffed with sushi I could have probably and easily eat 2 order of those! Its really good a must try in their menu!
Great sushi, great atmosphere, highly recommend!!!
Incredible sushi and the atmosphere was amazing too. Service is great; a must do if in Chicago
Great food, cool atmosphere. My customers were very pleased.
Menu is very limited for individual sushi pieces. Ate at the bar and bartenders not familiar with sushi options. Food was served in pieces too large and clumsy to eat in one bite. Very noisy. Very limited (1) "hot" sake options. One of the only Lettuce restaurants that I would not return to or recommend.
Great food and outstanding service! The sushi was fresh and creative, and the appetizers were perfect. We’ll definitely come back to Sushi-San!
All the fish was so fresh and delicious! I would definitely go back.
Great food and drinks, especially the pancakes for dessert. Small portions, very pricey.
The service was awful. We received our food 20 mins apart from each other and the server was very rude/ never checked up on us once. We flagged down the host for our bill.
We walked in early for our 8 pm reservation and the host couldn't be nicer about it. He got us in and sat us down. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and explained all of the different types of fish that came with our Omakase. Definitely a place where you save for a special night out but nonetheless a wonderful experience.
Run, don’t walk. Hand rolls and hip hop make this a “must visit.” Some non-sushi highlights include the Vietnamese pork, charred cauliflower, Thai basil chicken rice, and the rocky road ice cream.
Our waiter Cole was great!! So friendly and attentive and very knowledgeable about all the drinks and food.
Food was sooo good. Can not wait to go back.
Coal roasted lobster, skirt steak and scallops are outstanding. Our favorite rolls were the tempura shrimp And hamachi
Great food, reasonable price and a fun and festive atmosphere for a birthday dinner
Fun atmosphere. Appetizers were great, maki rolls were spot-on, and the dessert pancakes were fantastic.
Even the Japanese bourbon whiskey was great. I highly recommend for an after-conference business dinner...our table thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
I live in Seattle and the Salmon was the best I have ever tasted.
Our Waiter Eli was great. Very knowledgeable about the menu the sake and whiskey list. He was also quite accommodating in assisting the lone Vegan in our party with menu options.
Super dinner. Great Food
Awesome food excellent service highly recommended
Great food, great ambiance. Food was delivered quickly from expo, visible thanks to the open format. I was impressed & am definitely recommending to others!
Awesome experience! I recommend the spicy tuna roll and the umami scallop as it left us wanting more. Service was great & ambience was felt chill but upscale
Our waiter was AMAZING!!!! I never write reviews, but this place is awesome. We started off with lemon sake bombs then spicy tuna crispy rice then rolls and the pancakes for dessert... Cost us $40 each... it was perfect
Loved SUSHI-SAN! I think it’s my new fave sushi spot in Chicago! It’s a departure from your normal quiet, zen sushi place with its hip hop bar vibe but it had high quality sushi nonetheless! We had the tiger shrimp tempura, which came with 2 types of dipping sauces, then some nigiri sushi which were stellar in terms of fish freshness and expertise of the sushi chef. The steak in robata grill was flavorful as was the hot rice pot with king crab meat. The rice less maki rolls were just ok but perhaps would have been better with rice? The vibe reminds me a bit of my fave restaurant Momofuku Ssam Bar in NYC so perhaps I’m predisposed to like it. Looking forward to returning!
I’ve had a lot of sushi in Chicago, honestly the best I have had. So lite and refreshing. The white fish special is amazing btw highly recommend it.
Server was awful. No interaction whatsoever. Ordered a second drink that never arrived. Place was packed, but for a $230 tab for two people, I'd expect a better dining experience.
Sashimi was surprisingly fishy tasting and smelling as well. Very unlike this place.
The last time I was at sushi-san, it was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. This time will make me consider going back again. I've taken it off my list of date night spots.
First time dining, very trendy/chic. Our server was excellent and the sushi was absolutely divine. Will come again soon!
It was excellent. I will come back for more. The food was excellent.
Loved the creative and fun sushi and other dishes here. Great drinks and service was excellent. Recommend the aburi sushi and hand rolls for value and fun - aburi is crispy warm rice crust with warm toppings. Also loved the no rice sushi in cucumber with shredded daikon. Fun environment with rap playing. Have a sake bomber and enjoy the vibe!
The food was great and the service was even better. I will be a frequent diner.
Went with a big group and we all LOVED it. The sushi is fantastic but don’t limit yourself. Get some of everything on the menu and share. I usually don’t like tempura but has some and it was AMAZING!
The rolls were amazing. Surprisingly bursting with flavor. I had a California like roll with crab meat (off the menu). The crab was very succulent. Tempura shrimp was an explosion of flavors.
Had sake with my lunch (recommendation provided by the server), it was good.
Make sire they check you in.
Good fish, great mezcal/cognac drink, loved dessert, and quick/attentive server.
Incredible dishes and unique appetizers in a cool edgy atmosphere. Great for catching up with friends, dates and other intimate special events! Make sure to grab a sticker on your way out!
Best sushi in Chicago -- would be even better than a lot of sushi in Japan if there were some way to retain the 'korikori' texture of the white fish. For two: Split the D-Luxe Nigiri 12 Pcs (they will give you two each of six things) and supplement with appetizers, drinks, and desserts. I recommend the Japanese eggplant tempura, Asahi draft, and their ice cream.
Excellent as usual
Service is superb. Maggie took great care of us. Our son has fatal food allergies (dairy, nuts, eggs) and we do not dine out much. Sushi San always takes great caution to accommodate us which is why we always come back.
Best sushi in Chicago by far!
Thanks to the entire staff
Food was quite good though pricey for what you get. The restaurant is very loud and wooden bench seating is terribly uncomfortable. Unless you're a fast food/self-serve restaurant I don't know why you'd subject customers to such torture unless you're just looking to turn tables quickly.
Our server was amazing and helped us order perfectly!
Greatest sushi so far in Chicago after trying many! And the service was beyond!
