8 pieces of Sushi & 1 fatty tuna roll (6 pieces)
15 pieces of better quality sashimi
The sushi was good, not great. Some very good pieces. Very limited beverage options. Ambiance was ok. The best part was the toilet which you have to try to understand.
We decided to try Sushi Ryusei after reading all of the great reviews. We sat at the sushi counter and I had the Omakase sushi and sashimi regular and my wife had the Omakase 10 piece sashimi. Both were very good. We added a hand roll and a cut roll at the end of our meal and we were quite satisfied. The sake we had was excellent. The waiters were very attentive. Overall, it was a very good dining experience.
Went here two weeks in a row, ordered the sushi deluxe and they gave us a different variety each time. Very happy with the quality. It’s not Masa, but I would rank this as good as it gets before the top tier omakase places. Definitely looking forward to going back.
The food was exceptional. I enjoyed the Omakase. Great value for the price.
Some of the best sushi in NYC. FRESH and delicious
We ordered the omakase sashimi and sushi experience - we had a few pieces of sushi that was really special and unique but other than that, most of the items was mediocre. Somehow we didn’t feel like our sushi chef was very motivated or enthusiastic serving us. The set also came with side dishes and it had shishito peppers- those shishito peppers were super hot and spicy.
This is a hidden gem that we tried for the first time last night. I will be telling everyone about it and can't wait to go back. The food was amazing, service was excellent and lots of great options.
Amazing! Fresh, attractive, courteous, welcoming, clean, proper, under the wire, best kept secret and can't imagine why given the high level of service...a bit pricey but worth every penny. A class act all the way around
Good collection of Japanese sake. A little noisy and lousy when you get seated at the table at the entrance
We had such an amazing experience. Great service. Food is amazing. Really enjoyed
Authentic, just like being in Japan! Best sushi I had in NY so far
Loved the omakase. Think the first 5 pieces were better than the rest. Chef gave us complimentary miso soup. Tiramisu Matcha is a must along with the unfiltered cloudy hot sake. Also, due to the location, seated by the door and would have preferred closer inside! We should have done it at the chef’s table, but still a great time! And lastly, we love the casual but upscale vibe
Incredible food. Omakase was amazing! Would highly recommend and will likely go back again!
It was all great. I listed a lower score for ambience because I asked to eat outdoors. Since the restaurant is very close to the tunnel access street and it was Saturday night, the noise, though a nuisance, was to be expected under the circumstances.
I have eaten indoors before the pandemic and it was relaxed and reasonably quiet.
15 piece deluxe omakase was excellent
Sushi Ryusei is a neighborhood gem.
The hard working staff is friendly and professional.
The fish here is 10/10. Freshest fish, top quality
We’ve had nigiri, Chirashi as well as items from the kitchen. Appetizers, hot dishes, salads. All the food here is excellent.
sushi is very authentic; a sweet gem on the NYC east side
This is a good restaurant for specialty, sophisticated dishes. Basic fare sushi is ok. Not a good place for vegetarians; greasy tempura.
An elegant, quiet atmosphere for high quality sushi. Wonderful attentive service, reasonable prices, and fantastic food.
Best sushi I've ever had. Will definitely be going back and will refer to everyone!
Nice sushi, nice service. Delicious, good quality and appropriate for the price range.
Affordable for omakase, which means $80 - $120. I have a few places I like slightly better in a similar price range, but very glad I went.
Excellent service and food quality, would highly recommend this restaurant
wish they were open for lunch
First time taking daughter and her friend to our favorite sushi restaurant. As always, it was fantastic. The service is amazing and the food is incredible.
The food was exceptional! Very happy we tested it out. Going back there again soon!
Lovely. Great service and food.
Amazing sushi, attentive service. A beautiful meal.
The restaurant was amazing, the food was perfect and the service was amazing. The sake was also surprisingly affordable for the high quality. Highly recommend.
Very high quality sushi and superb waitstaff.
The sushi was good, but not spectacular. The appetizers were very good. The uni was mediocre at best and looked like a piece of pale liver plopped on the rice. I asked for hamachi belly and received regular hamachi and was not told that the belly was not available. The service was adequate, but our server was much more attentive to the gentleman sitting next to us who were Asian, most probably Japanese. I needed a fresh napkin, but could not get the server’s attention and never got one. The atmosphere is lovely and the decor is very nice. Overall it was good, but considering that the chefs came from Sushi Gari, I was expecting more.
Low key, high quality spot. Their sushi deluxe platter is the best A-quality sushi deal in New York!
Excellent staff very attentive and the food is phenomenal too
Fabulous food Good service. We loved it
Must try! Food, service, attention to safe and sanitary details is marvelous!
So glad we tried this restaurant. A gem!
One of the beer sushi meals I’ve had.
One of the best Sushi places I have experienced around the world.
Spectacular! That is the only word possible to describe the finest omakase in NYC! Note: Reservations are essential at this Murray Hill destination. Settle in at the sushi counter and get set for pure magic. Don't miss the outstanding sake offerings - try out my newest discovery, Kurosawa. Dry, exquisite. Host Haruki Kai always gives you a warm welcome. Trust me, you will become a regular here. Final note: the matcha tiramisu for dessert is no miss.
