Sushi Roku - Scottsdale Ratings and Reviews
Service, ambiance & food was good! My husband and I stopped in for a sushi date on a Sunday Night. The portions of sushi were not as large as other places we have been, and cost twice as much as an average place like Ra would cost, but the sushi was all very yummy and we were not stuffed when we finished, but not left hungry either. We got the California, baked lobster, jalapeño and toro rolls. The Cali was good, pretty average like you would expect, and came in a batch of 6. Same with the jalapeño and toro; but the rice was a little sparse for my liking and seemed very thin and almost wet. It also was not spicy at all to me...but Still very scrumptious! The baked lobster came in an order of 5, and was our favorite! The Hollandaise sauce was excellent, and the lobster had a nice texture to it, not overly mushy like a lot of other places do. We got 1 cocktail and 1 soda and waters to drink. Overall I feel the price was a little high at $68 for what we ordered...It was a quieter night, with a few other couples in the dining area, but with a lot of tables open we thought it odd they sat another couple at a table right next to us; was a little cramped I felt. And also there was a lot of ruckus going on in the bar area due to some sports game going on a few people were yelling and cheering loudly so that kind of threw off the romantic style atmosphere the rest of the place has going. Overall good experience, we will be back to try the happy hour and maybe lunch specials, and overall dinner was nice but nothing overly spectacular that has me clamoring to to back .
We love Sushi Roku and come here frequently but we didn’t have the best experience on New Years Eve. It seemed like they didn’t have enough staff to cover the busy night. The servers were hustling and doing their best but it was messy. Our cocktails didn’t come until half way through our meal and the food didn’t flow out very well.
We will definitely come back but maybe staff better next year to accommodate!
Worst service I have ever received. The waitress completely ignored us for 25 minutes and did not even offer an apology after the hostess and manager and another server made her take care of her table. Sitting at a table and trying to get anyone possible walking by to help us is simply embarrassing. The entire staff was overwhelmed and could not handle New Years Eve. It was a complete disgrace that everyone on staff ignored seeing a table not being served at all. The only saving grace to the experience was one waitress who we flagged down to take our order and actually did try to help and ended up taking over our table from the horrendous first server. We did however enjoy the food and the manager was nice enough to comp part of our meal.
Overall great experience but it was extremely loud. I understand it’s a open environment but it was hard to have a conversation. I would be interested in going back when there aren’t large tables sitting which could lower the volume. We will definitely go back and give it another try.
We were extremely dissapointed in our experience ar sushi Roku after dining at there other restaurants in California it was not comparable. The food was subpar, it was overpriced for the quality and the service was awful. I would never dine in this establishment again!!
Although we started off on shaky ground and asked for a different server we ended up having the most wonderful evening. The food was stunning. Fresh produce and flavours to savour. The young manager looked after us and he was most attentive and made us feel so welcome.
This is my second visit and without doubt it's becoming a firm favourite. Highly recommend
Poor creativity from the chefs. I'm a vegetarian and asked if the server to see if the sushi chef can make some vegetarian rolls for me. They made a cucumber roll with cucumber and asparagus, which is fine. However, the roll is very small and asked if they can make another roll. The server asked and told me that the sushi chefs can't make anything else. So they are telling me that the sushi chefs can't make any other vegetarian rolls besides a cucumber and asparagus roll? That's a bit ridiculous considering this is an upscale place. Kabuki, a typical Japanese restaurant, made me so much different vegetarian rolls when I asked. Disappointed!
Great atmosphere though.
One of the worst restaurant experiences ever! We had reservations at 9:15pm and arrived at 9:05pm. Right away the hostesses were extremely rude and seemed irritated by our presence. We checked in for our reservation and right away we were told, in the most rude voice, "We don't have a table for you so you can sit at the sushi bar or I guess that hightop over there". We explained we have reservation and don't mind waiting for a table, but were once again told "we don't have any tables so that's your option". So we settled for the weird hightop that was in the corner and right when we sat down we noticed how wobbly the table was. This experience just kept getting worst so instead of wasting our time and money we left there and had an amazing meal at City Hall. We clearly were not wanted at Sushi Roku... they made that very clear.
Went here on a date. The sushi was amazing. They do have other options besides sushi. We tried the chicken nugget things off the happy hour menu. My date thought they tasted burnt. They were ok to me. The sushi and sashimi really shine here. The cocktails are amazing. The best thing about roku is the service. It is overpriced but service is great, and food is good.
Always a great time! Food is high quality and creative. It's not cheap, so if u r from AZ, ask about local specials. Had the best ama ebi (raw shrimp) ever. Huge piece and so tasty. They have some unusual options so check what's on the special menu. They had monk fish liver(only had 3x in 30 yrs) which is a treat. Other interesting options. Plenty of saki and fine wine options.
