We had higher expectations for the price point.
Nice experience. Staff had a little trouble understanding passport program. Appears breakfast may have been an afterthought A little pricey without any discounts. I hope to try again for lunch or dinner
Worst service we’ve ever had here. 10 min for waiter to greet us. Took 30 min for simple drink order when place was not even near full. They brought 3 glasses of water for party of 4 and never returned with the 4th. Food was good, but the service would prevent us from coming back
My wife and I dined here following a recommendation from Hotel Adeline. It has been hyped up for some time and we finally decided to try it. We thought the food was very good but have had better sushi in other places. The ambiance is very nice but it is also confusing how to dress....you will see some of the most beautiful people and then others who just walked in from the game. It is designed to be a high end spot and the W hotel is a great part of this. The down side was the time it took to get drinks....that was terrible but the sweet server made up for it. It is a much better hotel restaurant experience than most but they didn't get the right bar design or number in that space. It is very good but I think we have a little too much hype.
Our server didn’t seem interested in serving my family and myself. We had previously dined at sushi roku in Las Vegas the week prior and had an amazing experience. The food was fantastic in LV. We ordered the exact same thing in scottsdale and it was not the same experience. A little disappointed I think we will have to go to Las Vegas if we want quality.
Have been here many times in the past, but this is my first time having a reservation and maybe that caused the issue.
The female attendant at the front forgot about us. I am not kidding. Checked in early (5:21 PM) and she said restaurant doesn't open until 5:30 and to sit outside at W bar and she will get us when they are ready. OK, no problem. Ordered some drinks and waited. Watched as group after after group went to front and got seated. Finally, at 5:45 PM, I got up and went to front. No one was there. Waited and out came another female (with the original girl about 2 steps behind her) who helped us. The original girl just stood there and said nothing. It really bothered me and will be the reason I will probably not return. There is no excuse to forget about a reservation, especially the first one of the night. It was not busy. Had friends meet us after for drinks and they were shocked. These friends own restaurants in Scottsdale and agreed with our assessment.
Our server was great. Food was good. But that really dampened the mood. It was a special occasion and we had our older parents with us (who are not the patient people in the world, so that didn't help).
I live in the area and am not a tourist. Disappointed in the night.
Both the food and service was outstanding.
I've eaten at the Sushi Roku before in Santa Monica. I decided to take a couple of people that I was recruiting to come to work at my company to dinner so we landed on Sushi Roku in Scottsdale. Let me be clear....the food was exceptional. Tasted great. So good.
The service. Was really bad. Drink order wrong. Had to remind them to bring the drinks. Bus boys and those delivering the food had no personality ("just do job, deliver food, don't engage with customer"). One of the bus boys spilled the creamer onto the table because a fork came off a plate as he was picking it up. Not only did he not offer to clean up the chocolate that landed on my guest's pants but he walked away and never cleaned up the creamer. WTF.
When it came to paying the bill, I put my cc into the sleeve, they took it away and then brought it back. They hadn't even charged my card. So they had to take it again and charge it.
It was really amazing at how incompetent the wait staff was.
Awful experience - avoid if you can. The service was poor, but maybe that’s because we asked to sit at the Sushi bar. Food wasn’t that good either, and way too expensive for what was being served. We are from the East Coast so maybe my expectations are high, but not a great meal on so many levels.
The pasta was under cooked - not el dante and too much salt...Over priced salty food.
Won’t be back, disappointed.
We were in for a late vday dinner, and we love sushi.
The appetizers were delicious, we ordered everything recommended. The beef rib eye that comes out wrapped around asparagus on a hot rock...to die for!
We also had the lobster roll, so delicious, we ordered a second.
The only down side is the waitress seemed to give a vibe that she had no interest in entertaining us or even speaking to us.
Always eclectic experience at Sushi Roku!
What a great dinner we had here. Freshest sushi imaginable. Definitely worth eating here. Be aware that you have to park in the W Hotel lot & they charge for that, but you can get your ticket validated to save a few bucks. Our server,Jennah, was OUTSTANDING. Ask for a table where she is serving. You will not regret it. Efficient, knowledgeable et cetera.
Valentine’s Day dinner
This sushi restaurant wow’d all 4 of us. From cocktails to blue crab w truffle oil appetizer king salmon sushi -all great and we’ll definitely return for more! Spacious booth for 4. Great service!
I’ve been to this restaurant many times at their Newport Beach, Phoenix and Las Vegas locations and always thoroughly enjoyed the experience. This was not the case when I dined at their Phoenix site last night. When checking in for our 2 people reservation, I asked if we might sit at a booth. The hostess, Olivia, told me the booths were saved for larger parties. Ok, no problem, if that was the case. After being seated, I noticed at least 2 booths with only 2 people. When those people finished, those booths were reseated with only 2 people again. I don’t know why the hostess lied to me, but it did not make me very happy. Our waitress was very nice. Unfortunately, we felt very rushed through our meal because they tried to bring all of our food at the same time. I had to send one dish back two different times, because there wasn’t even room for it on our table. After having dined at this restaurant numerous times in the past and having such awesome, positive experiences, I was very disappointed with my experience last night. I hope that this feedback may help improve their service back to the high level I’d experienced in the past.
We had a party of 8, the restaurant was very accommodating and took very good care of us. We opted for a menu based on Per Person spend and they brought out great features that filled us all up and were expertly designed & presented!
Just like I’m used to, Sushi Roku was excellent. Always professional and high quality.
Always great food, I love bringing guests here from out of town.
Great food and company. Despite the place not being very full drink service took longer than usual.
Made a reservation, made note the occasion was a date and still waited an additional 15 min just for 2 of us. Also left a request for a booth and was given a table. Was sat next to a large group that were really loud and they were yelling, music was also loud. I had to yell at my date in order for us to talk. Food and service was great though.
They couldn’t find my original reservation thru OT so they sat us outside where it was cold. A lot of open seats inside. Apparently they were holding seats for 8 pm reservations. It was 6pm. We did get to sit inside after We were seated. They told us we had to leave by 8 for the next res. The manager was eventually helpful. The food was good but not sure I would go back anytime soon.
Expensive for what you get. Sushi no better than ARA Sushi but much more expensive
Not going to be going back for Sushi.
Friendly staff but the sushi itself was just ok. I would say it’s suited more for a night out rather than a romantic dinner.
The tuna tartare was superb and the service was excellent. Nicole is a very attentive server.
Service, ambiance & food was good! My husband and I stopped in for a sushi date on a Sunday Night. The portions of sushi were not as large as other places we have been, and cost twice as much as an average place like Ra would cost, but the sushi was all very yummy and we were not stuffed when we finished, but not left hungry either. We got the California, baked lobster, jalapeño and toro rolls. The Cali was good, pretty average like you would expect, and came in a batch of 6. Same with the jalapeño and toro; but the rice was a little sparse for my liking and seemed very thin and almost wet. It also was not spicy at all to me...but Still very scrumptious! The baked lobster came in an order of 5, and was our favorite! The Hollandaise sauce was excellent, and the lobster had a nice texture to it, not overly mushy like a lot of other places do. We got 1 cocktail and 1 soda and waters to drink. Overall I feel the price was a little high at $68 for what we ordered...It was a quieter night, with a few other couples in the dining area, but with a lot of tables open we thought it odd they sat another couple at a table right next to us; was a little cramped I felt. And also there was a lot of ruckus going on in the bar area due to some sports game going on a few people were yelling and cheering loudly so that kind of threw off the romantic style atmosphere the rest of the place has going. Overall good experience, we will be back to try the happy hour and maybe lunch specials, and overall dinner was nice but nothing overly spectacular that has me clamoring to to back .
Great service and awesome food. The ambiance was great for friends together or a date night.
We love Sushi Roku and come here frequently but we didn’t have the best experience on New Years Eve. It seemed like they didn’t have enough staff to cover the busy night. The servers were hustling and doing their best but it was messy. Our cocktails didn’t come until half way through our meal and the food didn’t flow out very well.
We will definitely come back but maybe staff better next year to accommodate!
Worst service I have ever received. The waitress completely ignored us for 25 minutes and did not even offer an apology after the hostess and manager and another server made her take care of her table. Sitting at a table and trying to get anyone possible walking by to help us is simply embarrassing. The entire staff was overwhelmed and could not handle New Years Eve. It was a complete disgrace that everyone on staff ignored seeing a table not being served at all. The only saving grace to the experience was one waitress who we flagged down to take our order and actually did try to help and ended up taking over our table from the horrendous first server. We did however enjoy the food and the manager was nice enough to comp part of our meal.
Amazing service, food, overall experience. Would recommend over and over again! 🙌🏼
The service was awful. Very inattentive waiter and the food was delivered on top of each other.
It was amazing. The food was so much better than expected and it wasn’t super expensive! I can’t wait to go again!
Overall the food and atmosphere was great!
The hostess could use some training in greeting guests and losing her curt, rude attitude especially when our table was not ready and running 20 mins late! Not acceptable.
Excellent service from Nicole, extremely friendly and attentive managers, I️ believe there were three of them. Food was quality and delicious.
the service was so bad. Christmas dinner. After 1 1/2 hours of waiting, we agreed to leave. They paid for our sake.
Super slow service but excellent ambiance and great food - sparkling sake was delish! Three and a half hour dinner with friends is cool - with kids... Not so much! Beautiful restaurant overall!
This was out 7th year for having dinner at Sushi Roku for Christmas. Every year is great but this year was just a bit blah. Maybe we need a change in tradition
Expensive, mediocre food and service. Overpriced, small portions
The service, food and drinks were exceptional. I definitely will be back because places of this caliber are hard to find.
