Baked Crab Handroll
I am a regular at Sushi Roku and I have never had such a poor experience. The fish did not taste as fresh as it usually does (and due to the fact that it was the first day re-opened, you would expect it to), the server did not help at all with menu options (the paper menu did not contain the options available), and it was just an uncomfortable atmosphere.
Really appreciated the freshness of the Sashimi
Food was horrible. Crab was watery and stringy. The bar seemed more important than the food. Big disappointment.
The food was good and high quality. The service was real slow: however there was compensation for the slow service. I will give them another try.
Wonderful service, staff, and food. Thank you for a great experience!
The food was amazing. The service was on point. Felt valued from the moment we walked through the door. Yes, the price is high but the quality is as well. You get what you pay for.
We went for happy hour and the food and staff were amazing. We are already planning our next visit!
Schylar was one of the best servers we’ve ever had! He knew the menu well, was friendly, and prompt. The brussel sprout chips and specialty rolls were amazing, as were the craft cocktails! Highly recommend :)
Fresh sushi and friendly service. Comfortable ambience
The place only had a few people eating and for what ever reason we had horrible service not once did our server ask how we were doing or how our food was but the people eating right next us got checked on almost every 10mins. Over all very uncomfortable experience.
Tables were extremely crowded and close together to the point you could not hear the person you came with speaking across the table, but your rubbing elbows with the drunk strangers seated at the table next to you
Great experience. Would definitely recommend.
It was busy tonight but I would wait hours upon hours for this sushi.
Stopped in for happy hour with a friend. I HIGHLY recommend the Toro Carpaccio to anyone... out of this world!
Server was a little snotty with us, other than that it was a great experience!
Went out for a late dinner with my girlfriend, and decided to go to Roku. Our bartender was very knowledgeable about the food I wish I could remember his name because the service was really great and he answered a lot of questions. (Tall with glasses) everything came out in a timely manner and drinks were great.
Great food and atmosphere. We went for a birthday celebration and they did a great job helping us celebrate. It did get a bit loud at times, but fun place to dine.
My husband and I had a great time dining here. Our food was delicious, service amazing and ambiance wonderful.
My one complaint is the amount that was charged for a side of sauce - $7 for a tiny portion is atrocious. Sure, the sauce was made with real truffle and was delectable, but it ought to have gold in it or come in a to-go container for that price...
Poor service. Took forever to get our meals.
1. The waitress brought our check before our last dish was served.
2. It took a manager and 25 minutes to get our bottle of Sake
3. The cold sparkling water bottles we ordered were at room temperature
4. We were told that there is a 45-60 min wait if we order any additional sushi midway through our meal.
If you can’t handle the number of tables at your facility with your staff why would you seat that many people?
Quite dissatisfied and disappointed.
Our waitress was extremely nice. She really took the time to talk with us and make us feel comfortable. Our table was fantastic, all the food was great. I really like how unhurried our meal was. We had a stocker named demon slayer that was fantastic.
Must ask for Fran as your server she was joyous you can tell she enjoys being there which made us even more excited about being there. This was our 1st time and she gracious pointed the house favorites and some of her own! The Ribeye wrapped asparagus was off the charts! The sushi was fresh, delicious and spicy just how I wanted it! Don’t forget to end with the chocolate lava cake!!!!
The place was fun with vibrant environment. Noise level
Was higher than expected.
Easily the best sushi in Phoenix area.
Bravo Sushi Roku!
Beautiful meal. Great service. Very loud and fun atmosphere.
Awesome. Fresh and well prepared sushi to rival the best out there!
The food/sushi was outstanding. However, the service was not great. We only saw our waiter twice & eventually had to go inside to find him to pay our bill. We also had an extremely rude group of young women next to us who tried to start a fight because they said we “kept looking at them” — we didn’t look at them once (absolutely not the fault of the restaurant, but hampered the experience). Highly recommend because the food was so good. Hoping it was just an off night in terms of service.
Great date night location!! Although there were several loud people next to us. All in all still a great night.
sushi bar with Toby was as good as it gets...knowledgeable, friendly, made excellent suggestions, and best of all was fast ;-)
Worst experience. We were staying at the W. Got sat outside despite indoor availability in the cold. Took 25+ min to get our drinks. One persons dinner came out before anybody else got there salads. Had to ask for water three times. Waitress never checked on us. Complained to the manager that night who didn’t seem to care. Expect more from this type of establishment.
Very good food and service. Noise level is quite high but most people are fine with it.
Food was good, service average, but way overpriced for what it is
The atmosphere of this restaurant is very Scene-y. Lots of high heels and Botox, but hey, welcome to scottsdale.
Lots of dates and parties with bottle service but beyond all the fan fare the food is delightful and the service is fast, efficient and friendly.
My friend and I had a waitress named Emily who killed it, roll recommendations, whiskey refills just when they were needed and never an empty water.
Overall a great restaurant, and great people watching :)
Delicious food and great service!
The food was ok.
Service was horrible, we where two people and we order 5 dishes total.
They brought everything at the same time and they where some hot dishes.
We feel rush, like they wanted to kick us out of the place.
We left in 1 hr and did not enjoy the whole experience.
Went for NYE.
The service was atrocious, waitress asked us to order ourselves as we were already sitting at the sushi bar! We did order a hot plate which took forever, came out twice, then the waitress forgot who had ordered it. The front house staff was rude and it was incredibly overpriced with average sushi at best. Who in the name of God gave this place a five star rating? You can literally go to any basic sushi restaurant and have a better experience. Avoid this restaurant.
New Year’s Eve
Came to dinner to celebrate New Years Eve with my boyfriend at 5:45 with our reservation we made. We have never been here before and decided to give it a shot. We were greeted by the hostess who promptly took us to be seated. She advised that we had to be seated shoulder to shoulder at the sushi bar. I was less than thrilled to not have been seated at a table, but went with the idea anyway. The hostess apologized and was trying to be as accommodating as possible. It was NYE, so I understand things were rather hectic. The seats could have definitely been comfier and more space in between myself and my neighbor on my opposite shoulder. But... What left me a little unsettled was the fact that there were plenty of two person tables open. These tables were open to ENTIRE night. That was a little upsetting.
We were then greeted by our waitress. I have also been a waitress so I know the run around and how to properly treat a customer. I’m not sure if our waitress was having a bad day, or wasn’t thrilled to be working on NYE. I have never felt so rushed and awkwardly uncomfortable in my entire life. She was extremely short and snappy and acted like she did not give two sh*ts about us. The nice couple who sat next to us even said the same thing. Her attitude was stale, unpleasant and downright rude. She later explained that any order from the kitchen needs to be placed directly through her, all other sushi orders can be placed with the sushi bar cooks. Which again, was a tad bit awkward. I wanted to start with a Miso soup and then dive into sushi. Our waitress disappeared for about 10 minutes. We ordered our sushi and started munching on that until our waitress finally stopped by. I ordered my soup, then had to wait another 15 minutes to get my soup! We had then finished our sushi. The best part about our visit was interacting with the couple next to us! The food and the sushi cooks were great, no complaints there. For the money, I definitely don’t recommend.
Very misleading... was told due to party size we would have to sit at the sushi bar even though we booked a reservation for a table ahead of time. You should notify guests of your intentions to not sit them at a table when making or confirming a reservation, especially for special events such as NYE. Very disappointing.
Food pretty good. Service really bad. Took forever to get a waiter. Soy sauce was empty - apparently very challenging to refill. Sake delivery came well into entree course. Long wait for dessert.
Great place and food. The Toro Carpaccio is unreal to say the least.
