   Unfortunately the food wasn’t impressive and the price very high for what we had. We got the albacore roll and it was very very salty and the rice was dry. The guioza was a different flavor which is ok but unfortunately it wasn’t fully cooked in the middle, they did take it off the check which was very nice of them but I wanted to mention it wasn’t a great option. The music was very loud on the patio what’s why I have it noise level high.

   When I lived in the area this was my favorite sushi place. I’ve bragged about it for years to my wife. We were here for a business trip and I brought my family with me to see where I used to live etc. our waiter took our drink order and appetizers and was very polite. He brought both out quickly, then completely disappeared. Around 30 minutes later a female waitress came to the table and said, is there anything else I can get you? And we responded ,”who are you?” She said that our original waiter went on break and she took over. We placed out order and the food steadily came out by people other than out new waitress. None of our drinks ever got refilled, our waitress finally came to the table about 45 minutes after the food came out. I left the table for a sec and had my wife take care of the bill. When I returned she had paid already, the waitress was supposed to bring us an itemized receipt, but she never returned. The bill was easily 1/3 higher than I expected and I’m guessing that gratuity was included even though the little computer thing they had you asks you to add a tip. Overall, super underwhelmed with the horrible service and there was nothing special with the sushi. You can get the same sushi with amazing service at dozens of other places.

   The food comes out so fast but is super high quality, the service is top notch and they brought my girlfriend a beautiful lava cake for free just because it was her birthday. This is my new favorite spot for sushi and apps in Santa Monica, the crispy tuna roll is insane. Can’t say enough good things about this place we kept saying to each other how much we loved it here

    Amazing dinner as always at Sushi Roku- the service was excellent and really made our daughter’s birthday quite special. The food was delicious as we had some of the prepared items as well as sushi. Can’t wait to to go back!

    The hostess started things right by being super friendly and welcoming. Our waitress was helpful, pleasant and offered good suggestions. Food is consistently good and fresh.

    180 bucks for two people is a lot of money for a restaurant as casual as this. Sushi is good but waiters are always in a hurry and unresponsive to any advice o request for a refill.

    We were able to score a table on the new outdoor patio had such a sweet server. The ambiance was perfect (it was during sunset on a nice summer night) and the overall experience was fantastic.

    The manager tried but they just couldn’t get it right. The soup didn’t come till the end of our meal and they charged for it any way. She ordered an octopus plate and was brought sushi. Vegetable tempura, brought shrimp, and one point it became comical. I ordered Sea bass with asparagus and mashed potatoes on the side so I could control the portion of potato. It was delivered with the fish in the middle of the plate and carrots on the bottom and impossible to separate send back as it was all I had ordered and takes a while to prepare. While they made every effort to fix each problem and comped a scallop roll and ice cream there were so many mistakes and so much waiting it really ruined the flow of the meal that one would expect (and why we’ve so often gone back ) from a sushi restaurant of this caliber ;-( I want to close with EVERYONE tried but they just missed the mark this time ;-(

    Love the people, but I’ve learned that Sat night is a good time to be there. The music and the noise was way too loud. The food was of good quality, but the sushi was very bland. The calamari was almost inedible (what too much batter with an overwhelmingly sweet sauce (a bit stomach turning). Service was wonderful, and that’s difficult under incredibly overwhelming goings on.

    Craving sushi so we decided to try Sushi Roku. It was good, but it’s very expensive. One person in our group isn’t a fish eater, so I wish there had been more options for him but it was good. Nice lively atmosphere.

    Very good nigiri. Spicy tuna was okay. Kids loved the gyoza, thought one of the best things ever! Teriyaki was fine. Location was fine, not amazing, on a street corner. Shielded by plants and things so pretty and not too exposed but noisy for traffic going past.

    Overall, the experience was fantastic and there will be subsequent visits. The Brussels Sprout chips were my least favorite choice while I found surprisingly unexpected enjoyment in the cauliflower. We had a variety of sushi pieces and all were great. Honorable mention were the Blue Fin and Amber Jack (please don’t be inveigled by my preferences… you my like things here more or less according to your palate)

    Sushi Roku has some standout items including the Miso Eggplant and the popcorn shrimp tempura. However, many dishes were nothing special, including the several sushi items that we ordered. The place is very loud, making it difficult to have a conversation. And the service does not match the prices. Our meal for three people was over $300, but we only saw our server twice during the visit. That's not acceptable. I had to ask for a water refill three times, also unacceptable. We will not return to this restaurant. There are many sushi restaurants in LA that are much better.

    The food and service was great. We booked reservations with notes for outside and I called that day to confirm that we could have a spot outside. When we arrived to our reservation a little early they told us that all the tables outside are full so we had to wait another 20-30mins before we were able to get the next open table. Then once seated the music was so loud that our table couldn’t hear our server and she had to repeat herself several times. As someone who wears hearing aids, even turned up, I still had a hard time hearing the staff. I will say that the food was worth it and I was very pleased with the service. Food came relatively soon and our cups were never left empty. We will go back and I understood that they were busy.
