It’s always a pleasure!!! We love eating and drinking there....
Great as usual, could do without the mask restriction to walk in....
It’s great to have them open again! They have many COVID-19 precautions in place so I felt very safe eating there.
Love the atmosphere and the food. Our waitress was lovely but we had a hard time catching her attention to order more dishes - she must have passed us 8 times without turning her head. It wasn’t even busy. Still, everything dingle thing that we ordered was super fresh and top notch! We’ll be back!!
One of the best sushi experiences ever. Imaginative dishes with a lighter than expected touch, fresh, fresh, fresh fish and perfect recommendations and service from our server. A very active atmosphere but not overwhelming (and, we’re a little older than typical maybe) though the overall experience was memorable. Rates a return next time in Pasadena. Sushi Roku rocks!
Pre-theater Sushi. It was really great. Fresh, tasty and a good selection. Food was excellent. Drinks a bit pricey. In a nice little courtyard off the Main Street. Seemed popular with the locals.
Food was god but the waiter didn’t introduce the menu’s or himself hardly say anything
Food is fantastic
Love the Hanabi spicy tuna crispy rice dish and cucumber sunomono appetizer!
They always have space for our lunch group, there's never any rush and the food is always good.
Valentine’s Day dinner!
We are regulars at Sushi Roku. While we usually enjoy this restaurant, we have had issues several times recently with the kitchen. Dishes always come out when ready but we have had several experiences where everyone in the party (except one person) has been served and has completed their dinners and the last person has not received any of their food. It is different dishes and different parts of the kitchen. They just have a problem managing the flow of food. It should not take 45 minutes to get any dish out of the kitchen but it happens regularly.
This place was amazing! The staff was very profesional, fast and friendly service. We were treated with very great service. They accommodated special request we had. Awesome dinner!
The service was terrible and extremely unfriendly. We have a reservation for indoor dining and they gave us a table outside without heater in a cold evening. We ask for another table and they refused while there were other indoor tables we could have had. We will never eat here again.
Not dazzling. Sushi was average. Had better there before.
The food was beautifully created and delicious! The entire staff was extraordinary in making our group feel special and appreciated.
Average quality sushi. Nice ambience. Average service.
An American style place, not for real sushi lovers.
This review is based on the experience we’ve had yesterday on 01.26.2020, which redeemed the bad experience from 01.18.2020.
After our first unpleasant visit on 01.18.20, general manager Andrew called me and genuinely apologized for the bad experience we’ve had that night, and offered to make it right for us the next time we visit. I appreciate him reading the review and reaching out, this shows me customer experience is really important for Sushi Roku and any bad service is unacceptable to the company.
My boyfriend and I were home for the Lunar New Year weekend so we decided to give Sushi Roku a second chance. We made a reservation for Sunday evening before heading back to Orange County.
We checked in with the host, she greeted me by my first name- which I really like. She then sat us down and introduced us to Elena, the general manager for that evening. Since Andrew wasn’t there, Elena came and greeted us. She was very sweet, we built good rapport and she recommended a few of her favorite dishes to us to try. During our conversation she was able to take down our orders, without us having to repeat to the waitress - great service here!
Our waitress, Talin is also great. she brought out the dishes on a timely manner and checked in with us every so often to make sure we are still enjoying the food. For the evening we ordered:
1. Tuna Hanabi
2. Fluke Kumquat (great recommendation Elena!)
3. Chef Selection Sushi Platter
4. One miso soup
5. One salmon hand roll
6. To top it off with Bread pudding with ice cream (must order)
The food was delicious as usual. The service was attentive and exceptional this evening. I’m glad they really care of what customers think, and finds ways to salvage that relationship. With that being said, I’m willing to update my review based on the experience I had on the 2nd visit.
Thank you Andrew and Elena for the welcoming service on our 2nd visit, it totally redeemed the first unpleasant visit. You will see us visiting again!
Came here for DineLA week. When we got seated, it took 15 minutes until the waiter approached us for water... then she neglected to include the DineLA menu on there. Took her another 10 minutes to get back to us for the menu. When we were ready to place our order, she was nowhere to be found... After 10 minutes later she approached us for our order. The food took awhile to come. I asked to refill my hot water twice... didn’t happened. I asked for the 3rd time she finally took my cup and refilled the water. Seriously?
Aside from the very poor service, the food was good. We had the DineLA menu, I got the cured salmon as appetizer, 6 piece of house sushi as entree, and mochi ice cream as dessert. Overall the experience was super underwhelmed and unattentive. The restaurant wasn’t even that busy that night... if they are understaffed, management need to add another 2-3 employees on the floor. The poor slow service is unacceptable for this nice restaurant.
Food was solid but the service was lacking. We had a party of eight but only 6 meals came out first, then it took 20 mins for the last 2 meals to show up.
Great sushi, fast service
Some of the freshest sashimi I've ever had! Really enjoyed!
We went on New Years Eve. Despite that the service was excellent. I did a chefs selection of sushi. Excellent.
The tuna appetizer was tasty though would have preferred different chips than potato chips as they added salt.
Our server was both attentive and delightfully engaging.
All in all a fine evening.
Always amazing food and sushi. We only come special occasions because it is so pricey. But parents and kids all love this place and we keep coming back!
Good sushi in a very energetic location.
Very noisy, service was terribly slow and overcharged me for sake I didn’t order. My previous 6 experiences were good but not this one
I've been to Sushi Roku a few times before and each time it was a very enjoyable experience -- the food, the wait staff, the ambiance -- but for whatever reason, this time was just very different. In particular, the dishes were not as I remembered. I loved the Avocado Hanabi and the Calamari but when I got it this time, not only was it over-fried and extremely greasy, it was also over-flavoured. Equally, the Lobster roll was over cooked and extremely tough and chewy.
That said, our waiter was extremely personable despite being very busy, which I very much appreciated.
In terms of the ambiance, I'm not sure if it was the time we came, 8pm, or that it is just a holiday week but the environment was much louder than I remembered. Usually it isn't so loud in the back, but again, it might have been because of the particular holiday weekend.
Overall, despite being disappointed, I'm hoping it was just a hiccup, that they were busy and couldn't take more care with the food and that the holiday meant the ambiance was louder than normal. I will try again hoping for a better experience next time.
Andrew the manager was very attentive and friendly. Took care of our group celebrating my daughter's promotion. Joyce and Elaine our servers were very busy but did a good job checking on us through out the evening. Great experience and food!
Waitress was amazing! Food was delicious
We had a very nice family dinner celebrating our son’s birthday.
Sushi Roku use to have a good reputation a few years ago. Now, it is very cheap and overly priced sushi that full of fried and not so fresh fish. They can't even pull a edamame right and eating some of the entries makes you think that will you have a stomach flu tomorrow because that weird taste in you mouth after that first bite? We have ordered a few roles and hamachi and all were below average (compare to Kabuki they are not any different with exception of the price).
The main waiter, he was all over. Trying to remember things were really hard for him and even if he wrote second time to get us a soda still took at least twice to remind him before got the soda.
I will not return mainly this place ever again cause of the quality of food is really bad.
Two. birthdays of childhood friends with their wives. Superb service, excellent food. Had an amazing experience. Thank you Sushi Razu and staff.
The food quality was not used to be, it was sub standard. It was disappointing to say the least. The service was good.
Some of the bendy sashimi I have had anywhere. And the uni.....
Service was not great considering the price of the food at this restaurant. The hostess was not the friendliest. Issues with one of our orders and waited around for our bill for over 10 minutes
