Very creative sushi selections...and all very good. Unfortunately, we have been there twice and in both instances service was very slow...in fact, at lunch we saw two customers walk out because of the wait. Appears to be understaffed because everyone is very pleasant and appear to be trying hard. Highly recommended for creative sushi, etc...but be prepared to wait a bit. Relax and enjoy
Love, Love, Love this restaurant. The Sushi is extraordinary. If you go here, you won't go anywhere else for Sushi. It is absolutely the best in town.
Chris was welcoming and the food was amazing. I will return.
Best sushi/sashimi in raleigh, no question. Service was excellent (equally attentive and casual). Exquisite and creative presentation and nice touches like handles for purses! Will be back!
Sushi mon continues to be my favorite restaurant in the triangle area. The fish is consistently at the highest quality, freshness, and taste. I also enjoy how the menu slightly changing every time we go (about one time per month) so there are new things to try and our old favorites (sashimi plate, ikura, and uni(Friday-Sunday.
Best Sushi in town- Sushi Gem of Raleigh
As usual, Sushi Mon was amazing. We always dine in the afternoon so we can relax and enjoy our sushi without feeling like we need to rush to accommodate other patrons. Chris is amazing! We trust him to get creative and give us just what we like. The fish is always fresh and served in ways that are beautiful both visually and to the taste buds. One of the best sushi restaurants in the Triangle.
Great service and experience
Amazing food. We had the omakase and Chris the chef and owner catered to our every need. I recommend going there to have a date night or even to take the fam out!
We are regulars. We visit Sushi Mon at least once(if not twice) per month. We are trying to work our way through the menu and try every dish at least once! The other day we came and they had brought in a 500lb Tuna and we were able to eat fresh tuna that was cut the same day there in the restaurant(they had the head on display on the sushi bar which I thought was really cool). Eat dish is thoughtfully prepared, accompanied with the right sauces and garnishes; also plated skillfully and beautifully. They don’t add unnecessary garnishes like many places do(like parsley and lemon) or garnish with things that do not compliment the fish. When they serve sashimi, they are able to tell you where each cut of fish came from so.
Nest sushi im triangle
This was our second visit and everything was superb again...impressive and consistent. Best sushi restaurant in the raleigh durham area
Some of the freshest sushi I have ever had! We regularly dine here and always have the same consistent quality of fish. Limited menu but if you like REAL sushi then you will not be disappointed. Very good sized rolls and the quality reasons the price. Best sushi in Raleigh. Great appetizers too.
Second time eating at Sushi Mon. The food is fantastic. The service today was abysmal. It was better the previous time. Waiter had to be flagged down repeatedly for common sense things like water refills and he was unapologetic for anything. They weren’t busy. Disappointing. The food is wonderful though!
After two visits, I am looking forward to the next one. Both times went with my family and everyone was excited about the food. The food is fantastic - the nigiri plate is superb, the fish is in great condition and cut right, and the rolls are constructed artfully. I'm sure there's a pricier option in Raleigh for sushi, I'm just not sure it'll be better.
best traditional sushi in the triangle. The chef brews his own soy sauce... he takes you through the proper sushi course so that you really taste the flavor of every fish he serves.
The service was well above par! The artistry of the food was also amazing. Great overall experience.
Food was of great quality with a fine attention to detail.
The food was great. The miso soup is the best that I have ever had. Each sushi roll was excellent. We tried to decide which of four we liked best and I said that it was a four-way tie. I will definitely be back.
Excellent! This is real sushi and they know what they’re doing!! Will be back
We had a nice date night out . The service was a little slow, but the restaurant was really busy. Our server was extremely attentive and very friendly. The 24 hour pork belly, sashimi, miso soup and tuna roll were all excellent!
As usual, Sushi Mon did not disappoint. We stopped in for a Saturday lunch. We were greeting with a smile and welcomed immediately. We took our usual seats at the sushi bar and ordered our favorite beer and sake. We started off with edamame and yellowtail crudo. After reading a recent News and Observer review, we decided on nigiri omakase. We have dined with Chris several times and we trust him to serve us exactly what we like. His creativity and culinary expertise provided us with an amazing meal. From the the lightly seared salmon belly to the uni and ikura, we savored each bite. See you soon, Sushi Mon.
Excellent food, amazing service .. yet another wonderful experience at Sushi Mon. I highly recommend sitting at the bar, as speaking with the Owner and Chefs is fun and informative!
Sushi Mon is one of the best sushi restaurants in the Triangle. The fish is so fresh. The presentation is beautiful and the service is fantastic. We are self proclaimed sushi snobs and we LOVE Sushi Mon!!
Amazing. Kevin provided great service and everything we tried was wonderful. It was the best sushi, nigiri, sashimi we’ve had in Raleigh. The only thing that would make it better is if you set up valet or bought some parking spaces from zaxby’s
It was absolutely wonderful in every respect. I cannot wait to return. We shared a variety of dishes and the experience felt very special. The presentation of the dishes makes you feel like you're in a Michelin star restaurant but it's not stuffy or unaffordable. We cannot wait to return.
We felt that the small plates and appetizers were well designed and delicious. The wait staff disappeared once or twice for awhile, but was friendly and helpful. The only letdown was the sushi itself. The sauces felt too overpowering where you couldn't really taste the fish.
My friend and I were both very impressed by this restaurant. We both thought that the sushi may very well be the best in Raleigh. We were also impressed by the freshness of everything. They make their own low sodium soy sauce which was excellent. The owner came to our table to introduce himself - we felt very welcomed.
Great food as always. Everything was absolutely delicious and chef Chris took very good care of us. The service was excellent, ambiance was perfect for our one year anniversary. Highly recommend people to come enjoy Sushi Mon for any occasion.
Never knew quality sushi until I had the sushi at Sushi Mon. By far the best sushi I’ve ever had in Raleigh, or anywhere. Definitely worth a visit. The only negatives, we had a reservation and we were sat back to back with this other 2 person table where I had to shimmy into my seat, even though there were other tables available. The table was back near the kitchen, which had an odd smell, but all of that disappeared once the food started rolling out. It was so delicious. I can’t wait to go back.
We loved the Chef’s selection. We sat at the bar and let the chef make whatever he recommended. It was an amazing night of food. It wasn’t cheap but it was worth every penny!
I arrive Saturday 12pm. There are very few people there and the environment is quiet good. We set at bar and have greate talk with the sushi chief and he gives lots of tips for how to enjoy the food.
The quality of the fish is amazing and overall taste and decoration of the dishes are very good.
Great place, great sushi. One of the best in the triangle. The parking is a bit of a mess, but that's not their fault.
Delish! I do wish they served iced tea. I don’t drink, and I don’t always want a side or water....just want some plain iced tea.
Great food and nice ambiance! Excellent salad and creative roll combinations that come with their own specialized sauces, and they also make their own aged (3 year) soy sauce. Although pricier than the typical sushi place, it was worth it for the unique offerings and fresh choices. Parking is odd since the lot in front of the restaurant can only be used by Zaxby's customers, but we had no problems finding other free parking nearby. We will definitely be back!
I’ve been here about 8 times so far and the service wasn’t great. The sushi bar was severely behind and wasn’t communicating how behind they were so that was frustrating. I was told something was on its way, and then 20 minutes later they started making it.
We stopped by Sushi Mon for Restaurant Week and are so glad we did! It was not busy at 5:30 for dinner, which was great as we were able to sit at the sushi bar and learn about the different dishes and ingredients. This is HIGH quality sushi, you definitely get what you pay for (and more)! I will definitely be back to sample the rest of the menu.
My sisters and I dined with Sushi Mon during restaurant week. I had heard a lot about them since they opened and wanted to check them out, TRW is always a great reason to try somewhere new. We were super surprised to see their dinner was five courses for $35 compared to the average three course dinner from TRW restaurants. Before we ordered food we all got drinks, the wine list was small but nice, same with the sake. Everything we ordered for drinks we were happy with. All three of us ordered from the TRW menu, I had: Soup, Salad, Eel Bun, 5 piece Nigiri, Salmon Crunchy Roll, and Popcorn Honey Toast. Oh. My. God. I was so full. It was so much food. And it was all incredible. The nigiri was so fresh tasting. The fish was incredible. The eel bun had such a lovely char and the bun was nice and soft. I really don’t think we could have had a better dinner if we tried. Service was attentive but the restaurant was also very empty. But our water glasses never were. I’ll definitely be back again, but if you haven’t been and have been thinking about dining here. What are you waiting for? It is so worth it.
Their menu is innovative and plates are very presentable. I tried to eat Jalapeno bomb, Ultimate shrimp roll, and Tuna tango roll. All of their food are out of the world! The staffs are so friendly and chef knows what he is doing. Would highly recommend it.
Had a spectacular meal served by Chef/Owner Chris. The sushi is some of the best I’ve had and Chris explained every dish served by explaining the contents and where the fish is originated from. Chris also explained how most of the decorations are from the local community of artists and wood workers which i find to be very awesome. I would highly recommend anyone to come try the food here and i will be back soon enough!
