Wonderful fresh sushi, comfortable outdoor seating with heat lamps and great servers. Thank you and happy to have you back open
great service good food
Covid has made it more challenging to accommodate guests and service is slower as a result. You check in at the entrance (the host also works tables so there can be a wait) and then are sent to the rear of the building to the outdoor tables. There are just a few tables. They were pleased we made a reservation as it is tough to staff “on a whim”.
Food was good to very good. Tried many items. The Goyza was soft (they removed the pan seared one off the menu) but tasty. The blackened edamame delicious. And the eggplant side very tasty and unusual. We had a few rolls, the tempura shrimp with this heavenly sauce, our favorite.
It is all on the pricey side. But so is everything in the Barlow. And shade isn’t guaranteed (we sat in the sun much to our dismay). Lunch for two with nothing but sparkling water was $108 before tip.
We showed up for our reservation and were told they could not accommodate us. Will not be making another reservation in the future, despite previously wanting to try it.
Our meal was amazing and our server was top notch. Thank you for a wonderful evening on the patio.
Excellent selection and quality. Great service. Will be back.
This was our second meal at Kosho and it was as good as the first. The sushi is fresh, flavorful and very reasonable. We had several rolls this second time and they were all amazing.
Our friends had draft beers and they said they were excellent! The wine list has a very nice selection and we enjoyed the Chardonnay we ordered.
All in all, we were very impressed and look forward to our next meal at Kosho!
Sushi Koshō is always excellent. The food was extraordinary, the service on the patio was fantastic and I can’t wait to come back. Definitely worth the hour+ drive from San Francisco!
Loved the service and the owner is always attentive! We were there several months ago and the amazing server remembered Bud coming there as his first “outing” after 4 months in the hospital!
Love it and so glad you can still hang in there with all the challenges you’ve faced!
Excellent sushi, great salads, friendly service. A very good experience overall. We will be back for sure.
My fav sushi place ever. I drive 50 min for Koshō. Chu-toro is the best. Jake is a true artist! This is a must!!
Never disappoints! I super
Fresh, flavorful and delicious. ❤️
We got there and the power was out. They also said the dont like OpenTable app and that there was no way of communicating with opentable
The short ribs were very tasty as was the eggplant appetizer. The portion size for the eggplant was too small - it was a small Japanese eggplant cut into 4 small pieces. The taste was heavenly but portion size too small given the price. The sushi was good not especially unique.
Server, Anna was fantastic!!! Food was awesome!
Always had a great experience there however this time it took almost an hour to get the sushi rolls part of the the dinner because they had 2 really big to-go orders and the sushi chef was too busy to make our order. We were 4 people and two got their cooked dish and salad very quickly and the rest of us watched them eat and had to wait way too long for our food. Better get organized as that was not the best experience.
They have gone out of their way to make diners feel comfortable with Covid protocols.
Customer service is excellent and the food is so delicious. Our server Nicholas recommended the mushroom salad and it was stellar.
So grateful that Sushi Kosho is now open for patio seating and service. I met three friends there for my birthday and we had a fabulous time. Our server Nicholas was fantastic and the food was incredible. I highly recommend the wild mushroom salad, the double down roll and omakase sashimi!!
Superb sushi and excellent service. A delightful experience!
My first time dining out since SIP - the food was incredible, our server was kind and made us feel welcome, and tables were spaced out enough.
The only downside was that our table, being outside in the Barlow, was basically in a public walkway so we had random strangers coming within inches of our table a few times throughout our meal. Since we went on a Monday, there wasnt too much traffic but I can imagine it being really bad on weekends. BUT its really just our one table thats in the walkway so its easy to avoid.
We'll definitely be back!
As usual, Sushi Kosho did not disappoint. They have appropriately spaced out their tables, more so than many resturants have room to, and even added tables outside.
I went with my goto dish here: chirashi bowl. It is still fantastic.
Check it out, but don't forget to try various nigiri too! Fine Japanese in Sebastopol.
Poor service - long time between courses. Very expensive for what you get.
Lackluster service - felt like we were a bit of a bother to the staff
Excellent fish, perfectly prepared and presented. Cooked dishes are superb, including miso black cod and the Japanese pancake. Wonderful experience!
Not good. After paying $39 per person, we were still hungry so we had to eat again at another restaurant.
Miso with Enoki mushrooms and tiny slices of green onions was a nice warm starter. We shared a Hawaiian Poke rice bowl, nice and fresh, plenty for two. Next was a Spicy tuna roll with perfect mild heat and a Tempura Shrimp roll to finish our lunch, all perfectly fresh and tasty.
With the large garage door open, it was a little cool and breezy. Our server was a bit overwhelmed and brought us the wrong order, we advised him as soon as possible and got it to the correct customer.
Delicious and fresh sushi. Can’t wait to return.
Great menu for restaurant week. We enjoyed the soup and Creative poke bowls😋😋😋😋
Sushi Kosho has downsized since the flooding that closed the restaurant. It is still a very welcoming elegant casual dining venue. The quality of the fish is excellent. The sushi rice is uncomplicated but not as flavorful as the best sushi I have had. The sushi is prepared with a little wasabi on the rice underneath the fish (not my favorite given that wasabi is served with the sushi and I would have gone lighter) and is served with pickled ginger and wasabi. Soy is available on the table. We had the restaurant night dinner that started with very good miso soup and a memorable seafood salad and included sushi, sashimi and a tuna roll. While quality of fish makes this the best sushi in Sonoma County for me, it does not compare with the best sushi restaurants in SF because it does not offer complexity in seasoning and light complimentary sauces applied to the sushi by master chefs. I do not usually use or want soy with my sushi when prepared at my favorite sushi restaurants but it was necessary here because of the lack of complexity and relative blandness of the rice. 4 stars for best fish quality in Sonoma County.
The sushi was excellent and the dessert was just awesome. Our server was perfect.
It’s fresh and delish with unique combinations of the rolls. Delish!
Service was prompt and pleasant. Nicely set tables with crisp linens and great dinnerware pieces.
Both the specialty rolls and the nigiri sushi were excellent. We love this restaurant!
Great service. Food is middle of the road for sushi. Well presented. However, it on the higher end of pricing. Although promised otherwise, not many options for GF folks. Overall it's good.
it is still new?
Food service was terrible : (
When we were in front, no host/hostess wasn't there , even waitress never greeting in 10 min.
Food was good, but it took 40 min to serve for sushi is not good..
Really great food and our waitress was awesome. Getting seated on the other hand was quite bazaar. The hostess treated us with “be with you in a minute.” I had a res and expected her to come back but she never did. She cleared tables, went to the bar, and basically left us standing at the hostess station for 10 minutes. Another group walked in and also got the same greeting until they grew impatient and walked to her and were seated promptly. I was there first so of course this made me follow suit. I was told “I could sit at the table by the open door when there were other similar tables in less drafty locations. I suggested another table which we were aallowed to seat ourselves at. I was happy when our waitress took over and we had delicious food and great service. Hope this hostess reads this review and clues up to satisfactory customer service. I will be back.
love this place. the food is fantastic, the ambiance is casual and understatedly elegant.
The fish was so fresh, it melted in your mouth. Best sushi I have had!
Excellent Japanese food. Very pleasantly surprised by the quality and great taste of all the dishes.
Absolutely delicious sashimi. Some of the most flavorful fish I have ever eaten. Desserts are exquisite and unique recipes.
Excellent food! Everything we had was great! The Blackened Edamame is addicting! Love the Country Miso, the Mushroom Salad and the Chicken Thigh were my favorites! Only bummer, no dessert!
