Attentive service, superior quality fish and great apps.
Virtually empty inside dining, yet my hostess wanted to seat me within 6ft. of the front door and host station. Was told that there was no patio dining, even though the patio was less than 50% occupied. I asked for iced tea and was told they didn’t have any? Drink offerings were limited, no Ichiban. I asked for a Sunomono salad with Tako and was told that they did not serve Tako? I have probably visited a couple hundred sushi restaurants across the country over the past 35 years and have never experienced a sushi restaurant without Tako. The staff had the usual “Sebastopol” demeanor, snotty. The sushi was high quality but the portions were small. I ordered a 9 piece nigiri combo with tekka maki. 3 of my 9 piece combo was salmon, my least favorite. Two of the pieces were tuna which I thought was also a bit disproportionate considering the order included a Tekka Maki. Overall, my order was fairly light considering the portion sizes, I had one beer (Sapporo) and the tab was over $55. I don’t have a problem paying premium prices, I just expect a premium experience.
I wasn't very impressed by their sushi selection or taste of food.
Every taste was exquisite. It's rare to have food prepared with such care. As far as I'm concerned, it's the best Japanese restaurant in Sonoma County.
Excellent food, good service, fair value, poor wine list considering the Sonoma location
Incredible fresh fish but way too heavy on the wasabi on the nigiri. Heat level too high, so be careful.
Service was not great, indifferent, slow, and one of our orders never came out. Lots of flagging down for service but I guess that’s to be expected these days.
Great sushi and service! I’m a vegetarian and the vegetarian sushi selection was splendid.
Located in Sebastopol's Barlow Complex, Sushi Kosho is one of many sushi places in town. The food and service were adequate, but I can't help down-rating them because of their cost. Dinner for four--with two bottles of sake--came to over $300. Neither food nor service were good enough to deserve those prices.
Incredible fish quality, great service and innovative dishes. Highly recommend the mochi bons- a brilliant dish if you live crab.
Sushi was very good. Our grandson loved it. Service was slow.
Great selection, excellent wine pairings , friendly staff and modern atmosphere.
The food was great! There was a miscommunication about some of the food and it was brought out late. The floor manager apologized and gave us complimentary dessert 😁
Liked it, didn't love it. It's fine if you want a different sushi experience. I really enjoyed the salmon roll with lime. Overall I thought it was just one of those small portion overpriced kind of places.
Best, freshest, most creative spot in Sonoma County! Never disappoints, make a reservation.
Great to have another good sushi option. Menu is a little abbreviated, but really luscious food.
I made reservation for 7:30pm< I arrived on time and I have to wait 30 minutes for my table, what is the point to make a reservation?
Tasty, well prepared fresh food as always. Friendly service.
The food was good but incredibly overpriced, and the service was terrible. It took over an hour to get half our food, and then another 25 minutes to get the rest. Our server was borderline rude and the strange thing was, they didn't even seem busy enough to justify the lack of service. The quality of the fish was great but unfortunately not enough to justify the price or the wait.
Amazing food! Definitely will be back, the food was delicious.
I would say this is an average sushi restaurant if in the Bay Area. Prices are high for Sebastopol, and offerings weren't anything special. It would be helpful if the staff knew what was a part of the omakase.
Unfortunately we never got to try. Had reservation for 6pm. Showed up at 6, and told us we would be contacted when our table ready. At 6:20 we asked if we could sit at one if the many open tables and host said “sure go ahead”. We did. At 6:35 after no service still we decided we should cut our losses and leave. Extremely unstaffed it seemed.
This is an amazing find in Sebastopol. The quality of sushi is beyond compare. The service was excellent and out server, Nicholas, took such great care of us, even giving me his recommendations on great sake's to drink with the food. We especially liked the Chef's Omakase Sashimi plate filled with unusual seafood from Japan. We cannlt wait to go back for another fantastic dinner.
Celebrated a birthday here. Stunningly beautiful, service was awesome and food was insanely great
Long wait for food and drinks, but food was delish.
Pricey but good
The food was wonderful. Main complaint is that it took over an hour to get our food. It felt like they were focusing on to go orders instead of the customers in the store. We got there at 730 but by the time we received our food we were unable to order anymore because the kitchen was closed. We love the food so will try again but it was very disappointing that it took so long.
The quality is amazing, Oh it’s worth it!
A very classy Japanese bistro with lovely interior and a few outdoor tables. The seaweed salad was to die for - unlike any I'd ever had. The citrusy salmon roll was divine. I'm going back VERY soon! (good cold sake by the glass on top of well chosen wines)
Delicious food. Mushroom salad and seaweed salad were our favorite starters!
Excellent food! The best sushi experience in Sonoma County!
Fresh and delicious. Presentation and service also fantastic. Really decent prices too!!!
This is one of our favorite restaurants as the food is always excellent and very fresh. Their dishes are unique and so tasty!
Most amazing sushi spot in Sebastopol!
Excellent 5 stars everything was fresh, creatively made and beautifully presented. Rolls were generous portions with plenty of ginger and wasabi. Service was excellent, sushi made and served quickly. In short order we had 5 plates of sushi, rolls, and salad to choose from instead of everyone picking at one plate at a time. Will definitely make Sushi Kosho my go to sushi restaurant.
We had a really great experience. The food was delicious and the service was great. The band outside at the cider joint was a bit lout but that’s what you get when you go out to the Barlow on a Saturday.
Sam, our server, was slammed with tables, to-go orders, and walk-in guests when we arrived for our 6 p.m. dinner reservation. He handled the stress so well when approaching our table. He smiled and engaged with us as dine-in guests throughout the entire time at Sushi Kosho. The food was outstanding. One guest had the grilled eggplant over a creamed mushroom sauce and the sweet chili tofu rice bowl. The other two guests shared a sashimi plate and a citrus roll - outstanding bright flavor on roll from lime. The owner/chef approached our table at the end of the evening as the guests were fewer than when we arrived. Great experience. Great food. Great to have you in Sebastopol, Sushi Kosho!
Excellent food! I guess we hit it on a Saturday when they were busy, and service was slow, and our space heater wasn't working. But even with those complaints, I still would go back for the food.
Dinner was awesome. The cooked dishes and Sushi were great. Service was attentive. Couldn't have asked for a better meal!
Nick was a wonderful server and the salmon belly nigiri was extremely rich and buttery.
The food was good, but the service was terrible. They were so behind on orders that we cancelled the rest of our orders and went next door to eat pizza.
The signature jalapeño hamachi, salmon skin roll, seaweed salad and sake selections were excellent. Dining al fresco was a memorable experience and we will be back!
