The portion size is relatively small for the cost but the quality of the food was excellent. Will recommend to friends and will dine there again.
Best sushi in Sonoma County. Fresh, High quality ingredients handcrafted with such care and creativity. Love this restaurant!
Best place for sushi in west county. Chef/owner is super personable and fun to hang with at the counter
After the devastating floods that went through the Barlow center, Sushi Kosho is now back as good as ever with their unique recipes and presentations. Yay!!
The food and service here are outstanding! In addition to miso soup which was a cut above the usual, we shared the red dragon roll, the house roll, and the 15 spice ribs and all were just absolutely delicious. This place is definitely a local gem. We're lucky to have this wonderful chef and restaurant in our community.
Tops the charts for fresh nigiri/sashimi in North Bay. Also tops the charts by being prepared in slow motion.
Dining for life. Great choice
Excellent sushi spot in the North Bay. Great toss sit at the counter watching the food prepared and chatting with the owner/chef behind the sushi bar. Melt-in-your mouth delicious sashimi and terrific hit foods and desserts as well. Definitely leave room for the panna cotta!!
This stunning new shop serves up some of the freshest and innovative interpretations of Japanese classics we have experienced. Miso soup is rich and savory without being too salty. Sashimi and crunch rolls are a delight. The only disappointment was the spicy edamame, flat and unexceptional. Our server was marginally knowledgeable but eager to please. Recced for a hit out of the box, and can't wait to visit when they are in full stride.
It was good but the wait staff could stand to be a bit more communicative.
Wonderful experience! The food was excellent, great service, and overall fantastic evening. We will absolutely be back.
One of the best Japanese/sushi restaurants in Sonoma County. Menu offers exciting alternatives to the garden variety sushi place. Servers are extremely knowledgeable around menu offerings plus sake.
Really excellent sushi, high grades for fish quality and freshness. They are utilizing unique approaches to things like wakame salad and their nigiri and rolls are superb.
Intimate venue in the Barlow. Relaxed creative Japanese food. Creative appetizers and solid sushi and sashimi.
Since I already posted a review elsewhere I will just say here that the food serving was half what you would normally get at a traditional Japanese Sushi restaurant. Definitely over priced for the size and quality of food. I would not recommend this place if you are a die hard Sushi fan as my family is.
The pieces of fish in nigiri were too small to taste the fish.
The rice was packed too tight.
As a result have no idea if the expensive fish was with ordering.
Other restaurants have equally good fish in much larger portions at the same price allowing you to actually taste how great it is.
Food was too saucy and not authentic Japanese.
Nice ambiance, passive service who didnt know anything about the fish they were serving. Pitty because the food and quality seemed good.
Been here several times since the reopening and have enjoyed it each time. Food quality is excellent and the staff very attentive. Highly recommend.
Great experience. Everything was delicious, although calamari was a bit fishy and chewy. Will def be coming again, sushi and garlic edamame was out of this world!!
This is just a lovely sushi place, service was wonderful and the food was fresh and delicious.
We wanted to love this place- its a great location. The prices were high and the portions were small. The service was not excellent (Although our waitress was friendly and pleasant) despite the place being almost empty. Overall, unremarkable and lackluster, especially given the prices.
The meal was exquisitely prepared by Chef Jake. The nigiri sushi was wonderful and the Panna Cotta and the Matcha cake were out of this world. Chef Jake presented a novel dish, combining bacon and Mochi that was unbelievable! We have eaten here before and we were very impressed by the new decor. Much more intimate and warm. Will definitely come back soon.
While the service was great, the food was bland and extremely overpriced.
Super delicious food, fresh fish, beautiful presentation. The interior design is lovely as well! The Barlow is also a fun place to shop and this restaurant is a great reason to come back again and again.
Beautiful space, amazing food and service
Best seaweed salad that I have ever had! The japanese eggplant and the dragon roll were delicious.
All I can say is matcha cake. It’s the best thing I’ve eaten in a good long while. The sushi rolls were delicious and the miso was the best I’ve ever had. Service was super friendly and the space looks amazing aftertastes he rebuild.
Always delicious, the absolutely FRESHEST and finest fish around!
Simply the best for raw fish in the area .simple menu that sticks to the basics.
Superb sushi, friendly environment. Professional, courteous, and friendly staff. An excellent experience!
The food was absolutely fantastic. Everything we ordered was delicious and beautifully presented. Unfortunately, the service was terrible. After taking our order, we didn't see our waitress again until the end of our meal. The gals clearing the plates and bringing us our food were way more attentive. We never were asked if we wanted refills of our drinks, which we would have liked, and once we indicated that we were ready to go, the waitress got the check to us very quickly. It was frustrating to pay as much as we did for a delicious meal and have the service be so terrible.
What a charming restaurant. We are glad they reopened after the floods. We went with friends and while we made use of our extraordinary long wait for our food by catching up, I wouldn’t want service to be that slow next time. Carrot in the center of the roll wasbig and maybe better julienned in the roll.
Without question, the best Japanese restaurant in Sonoma County, and we've tried them all.
The food impresses me. The dishes, especially the dressings and soup taste hand made from fresh ingredients. In Most Japanese restaurants the miso soup tastes identical like the typical Kikkoman mix,not here, it had lovely little mushrooms and a lightly salty fresh taste. Had a Japanese eggplant appetizer that had a wonderfully earthy mushroom sauce. We love the sesame spinach appetizer with its light dressing. The sushi rolls were very good made with brown rice and well chosen fish. They do not try to overwhelm me with a million different ingredients. I had the chirashi which had a nice variety of tasty fish, excellent crisp tsunomono on a bed of brown sushi rice. This has become our favorite Japanese restaurant.
I thought the food was mostly flavorless (especially the Seaweed salad and Miso soup) and the prices way too high. I have been going to Sushi Tozai and Hana (Rohnert Park) for many years, was excited to try your place. I was disappointed and won't go back. Nor will my friend
Probably the best sushi in Sonoma County. It's pricier, but worth it. Extremely fresh fish. Wonderful sticky brown rice (never had that before). I rated the noise level as high because it was a Friday night and the Barlow was hopping. I've eaten there at lunch and it's very sedate.
The non-sushi offerings were creative and delicious. From the seaweed salad to the pork belly, each were tasty and beautifully served. We had the chef’s choice of ten pieces of sashimi which was good, but the least delicious. Next time, and we will defiantly come back, we’ll be a little more careful in selecting the sushi.
We got there right on time for our reservation. We received our food one hour and 20 minutes later, plus they forgot the gyoza. Far too expensive for what it is.
