Sushi Kashiba is Seattle's destination for Japanese fine dining at its highest level. Located next to historic Pike Place Market. Take a coveted seat at the Omakase sushi bar, where you just might find multi-James Beard Award nominated Chef Shiro Kashiba holding court.

Most guests order one of Sushi Kashiba's chef curated sushi dinners. The mix of fresh local fish as well as delicacies from Japan and around the world will satisfy the palette of seasoned sushi fans as well as new entrants into the sushi world. We also feature à la carte items like agedashi tofu, oysters on the half shell and Chef Kashiba's New York Times featured black cod kasuzuke. Welcome to Sushi Kashiba.

Why they're an Icon

Executive chef: Shiro Kashiba

From the OpenTable editors: Star chef Shiro Kashiba is credited with introducing Edomae-style sushi to the city, and Seattleites still flock to this Pike Place Market spot to see him work his magic. Trained under sushi legend Jiro Ono, Kashiba puts out plates of broiled black cod, tempura vegetables, seafood salad, and more—all informed by Pacific Northwest seafood and produce. Grab a seat at the wooden counter and go for the omakase, a true showcase for Kashiba's exemplary skills.

A truly exceptional Omakase experience on its own… but given that everything was also prepared by Chef Kashiba I left absolutely speechless.

Very refined nigiri experience with excellent service, slightly held back by idiotic reservation / queueing model and small details that are off... sometimes it's upscale, sometimes casual. Pick one. Overall, food and service is 5 star, ambience 4 star, some details are worse. Average 4 stars.

When a renowned sushi virtuoso like Shiro Kashiba offers an omakase at his chef's table, you know it is going to be an "experience." I've been to some of the nation's most venerated omakase places (like Masa in NYC), and Kashiba is right up there with those stars at a more reasonable price (at Masa the chef's counter omakase is $950 per person). The quality of fish is so fresh that it feels just plucked out of water (in fact, some of the fish are hyper local, like the spotted prawns from Elliot Bay). And the taste! It is almost indescribable how subtle and flavorful each piece of sushi is. Be prepared for almost 2 hours of amazing sushi experience and bring your appetite with you. The omakase is 21 pieces (and we opted for and additional three pieces of "secret" sushi).

Sushi was good however the pacing of the meal felt incredibly rushed. As a diner you hardly have time to discuss or think about the individual piece of sushi being tasted before the next one is served.

Best sushi I've had outside Tokyo (and competitive with what I've had in Tokyo).

Beautiful location inside the courtyard at Inn at the Market. The service was the best I’ve had in years. We had Geoduck and black miso cod. Both were incredible tasting and very tender.

Always a pleasure to dine at what I consider the best sushi restaurant in Seattle or to my knowledge the best in Washington State. My fifth experience to this restaurant was outstanding as always. The fish is exceptionally fresh and cut with precision with the correct amount of most delicious rice. This restaurant is 100% traditional Japanese and rivals restaurants in Japan that I have had the opportunity to visit extensively. The cost isn’t for everyone but the quality of food and service makes it worth every penny.

Sushi Kashiba is doubtless the best sushi resaurant in Seattle, and perhaps even in the PNW. The food is exoctic, but be prepared for a heafty bill.
