Sushi Kappo Tamura
Tamura is a Kappo style restaurant where food is prepared in an open kitchen and served quickly in a lively environment where staff and guests talk about the food and beyond. Our goal is to become the very best restaurant to our guests by getting to know them and serving them in a personable yet professional manner.

Great sushi authentic - love the options on the menu. Service and am embience
Great food and service. Server went above and beyond to remedy a small mistake, and was generally very helpful.
Pleasant, welcoming & friendly staff. Most of all very delicious food!!!
Best sushi this side of Tokyo prefecture
The food wasn't as good as I expected.
Service was good and the restaurant was clean. I feel it was a little pricey for that quality.
The service was great, the fish was great, but it just was not a $300+ experience. We came for the prefix Valentines day dinner and the fish was really great but the rest of meal just left us wanting more. I hate to leave a bad review but when you are spending that kind of money you are expecting something exceptional.
There was a snowstorm the night we went (a freak of nature for Seattle). A lot of people had cancelled their reservations and the restaurant was empty by the time we got there. The main server was not very helpful, did not listen to my questions (no, I did not ask what karaage was, but she assumed I had because she did not listen to my question, which was about an entirely different item), and seemed annoyed that we had honored our reservation. The helpers were much nicer and friendlier but weren't allowed to answer our questions. I specifically asked our server NOT to put shiso leaf on anything even for decoration. The sashimi platter had it on there, touching the raw fish. The portions were small and obviously expensive. The quality of the fish was very good, but not the best I've ever had. The miso soup that came with the platter was unique and good. There were several items on the menu that were standard Japanese fare, such as the karaage, which I wouldn't expect in a top notch Japanese restaurant.
Personable, approachable, and absolutely delicious. Would recommend to friends.
Very friendly service and good food.
The Staff was outstanding. The food was delicious. The drink pairings were spot-on. Our waiter convinced me to expand my food and drink palette; he was not wrong! We were in food nirvana. Thank you! I got a thumbs up for the birthday dinner.
The waiter was incompetent and the fish was not fresh. I tried to ask if certain sushi (scallop) was in season and the waiter’s response (passive aggressively) was that all their fish comes from Japan. (: Albacore appetizer was very fishy, nigiri was also fishy and tasted pretty poor. Rolls were good when covered up with spice but way overpriced. Waiter also forgot drinks and overall very mediocre dining experience for the price tag. We will not be returning as there are many better sushi options in Seattle.
Simply amazing food, wonderful service, and excellent wine. They go out of their way to create a warm and friendly atmosphere, and go above and beyond to make sure your experience is fantastic.
Best sushi in Seattle hands down! Even better that Taichi follows a sustainable sushi practice
Amazing service and food. Had heard great things about this place and was excited that it lived up to the hype.
I have been coming to this restaurant for a few years now and they never disappoint. The friendly an knowledgeable staff are a big part of what keeps me coming back. That, and of course the amazing sushi! You have to try their Hamtastic roll. It's simply the best!
Hands down BEST sushi in Seattle. Never disappoints
Always a favorite. Food quality is outstanding if a touch pricy for the sashimi portions. Our waiter was great.
The Omasake Chef tasting is amazing! Different than other Japanese places, fresh, seasonal unbelievable taste experience, great presentation and the 7 course meal will leave you full, satisfy and happy. The Sake pairings are worth it.
It’s definitely a place we’ll be back and often.
Thank you to the staff
Lacy rocks. Very knowledgeable about the sake and seafood! Will be back again
Delicious, authentic Japanese food experience that includes a great sushi selection and a lovely sushi bar. However, I go there for the tempura, as they do it so well — they are always fresh, flakey and absolutely fried to perfection.
Excellent food and great suggestions from our server
Wonderful service and excellent food! Thank you!
Sushi Kappo Tamura is consistently awesome. Love coming here for birthdays and other special occasions. The food is exquisite and superb, and the service folks very knowledgeable and helpful. Hooray for Sushi Kappo Tamura!
Great food and service! Sushi was the best. My friends and I had fun experiencing this fabulous restaurant. We will be coming back for sure! Thank you!
This is one of our favorite places it is always great!
Amazing sushi and Sake. Great and friendly service. Just awesome.
Food was delicious and beautiful! Service was great!
Super fresh and delicious traditional and innovative treats. Small table seating area; counter is the best place to be. Service was friendly, attentive and expeditious. Glad I finally made it to this delightful establishment; cannot wait to return!
They never miss. The best quality fish in the city, prepared perfectly. An extensive Japanese menu, not just sushi. I could eat there twice a week.
The best "neighborhood" spot to make Conde Nast's "10 Best Sushi Restaurants in Seattle".
The food was presented very well, but some of the fish selections were obviously lower quality. Rather than including them as part of the course based meals, it would make more sense to make the courses smaller and more premium.
That being said, the entire experience was excellent. I doubt I’ll be tempted to visit other similar establishments in the area, for I felt much more comfortable at this one.
Kappo Tamura is our go-to place whenever we crave for top quality sushi. The counter table experience is amazing, not only because you can enjoy the nigiri the second it’s ready, but also because you get to see the creation of these beautiful pieces. Taichi-San is accommodating, professional, and fun. Will come back many many times.
Pricey but Tamura is definitely one of the very few sushi restaurants in Seattle which offer high quality fresh ingredients and real authentic preparation techniques.
Every bite was perfect! Will be back!
Delicious. Excellent service. Kindly accommodate dietary restrictions. The only downside: too many great items to choose from and a need to exercise restraint to avoid over-eating. Bravo!
This restaurant is all about great fish. I'm always superbly happy with the freshness of the sashimi and the taste and creativity of the cooked fish dishes. I've never been disappointed.
Always wonderful food, service and ambience
Since first dining at Sushi Kappo Tamura in 2014, it has become my go-to Japanese restaurant in Greater Seattle. I've visited Japan twice, and SKT is very competitive with some of the best restaurants in Tokyo and Kyoto.
If you like sushi, you will love this place. The sashimi was fresh. The yellow tail melts in your mouth. Delicious!
