With commitment to that philosophy, Tamura features seasonal ingredients of the Pacific Northwest in authentic Japanese preparation.
Tamura is a Kappo style restaurant where food is prepared in an open kitchen and served quickly in a lively environment where staff and guests talk about the food and beyond. Sushi Kappo Tamura Ratings and Reviews
The ambiance of Tamura Sushi is very special. It has the warmth of a good Japanese restaurant with the wood and soft lighting and the modern feel with open duct work, glass and a view of the 520 bridge. Several of their dishes epitomize umami. I recommend this restaurant for good food in a tasteful setting.
Our dining experience was incredible. So many great places to eat in Seattle, so to stand out takes something special that Sushi Kappo Tamura certainly has. We appreciated the GF labels and local goods so much. Our new favorite spot! Your sake menu is a gem!!
Taichi and his team are outstanding, as always! I took my husband as a special treat because he is on a highly restrictive diet right now.
Taichi made us an extraordinary sashimi plate served with regular rice on the side that met all the dietary requirements and was delicious. He took the extra step to make the dinner special, as he always does.
The quality of food never disappoints. Their sushi is the best but their side dishes are very good too always. I had the lunch set this time with a friend that was visiting me all the way from Texas and she really appreciated true Japanese food that she hadn't had in a while (she is Japanese). We both enjoyed their homemade dessert too, I had the mochi and it was delicious. The service is very professional and attending, not pushy just right. I always enjoy my visit here and I plan to take my new co-workers and my boyfriend here very soon.
Our favorite sushi restaurant in Seattle! The staff is warm & friendly, the sushi is delicious, and the atmosphere is relaxing. Best of all, there are some delicious and unique dishes that really make Sushi Kappo Tamura stand out from others. The mustard green and albacore tuna appetizer with almond wasabi sauce is especially amazing!
Service was overbearing. They were too quick to ask to remove plates (some with a little food left on them), and way too quick to pour wine. Barely had the glass on the counter, when someone was filling it again. There were too many interruptions!
However, the food was quite good, and fairly reasonable.
Excellent food. Too expensive for a casual dinner. Great special date place or when you have lots of disposable cash. Our service was a bit slow because they were paying more attention to the "big money" tables. They got excellent service.
Perhaps the slowest and worst service I've had anywhere in a long time. They apologized that the to-go orders were taking precedence in the kitchen. It was sparse at best with customers and our waiter couldn't even keep our water glasses. Will not make a return visit, nor recommend this spot to anyone.
This was the perfect place for a special occasion, like my birthday, and I felt like royalty sitting at the bar. We experienced the 6-course menu with an added sashimi platter and a few extra nigiri orders before dessert. The chef was pleasant but not obtrusive. 10/10 would come again.
-Reception at the door was good.
-Food was normal-good (not impressed)
-Service was not surprisingly good, just normal good as expected
-Very friendly staff.
-The Table/furniture is not good, I felt as if I was in a kids chair. My wife even
made a comment about me looking below normal line when at the table.
[sushi bar stools may be okay but I did not seat there so no comments on that]
-Food sequencing was terrible, you see; when you order a course you are supposed
to be served a constant stream of food, Not a plaster of food at the same time.
[It is understood that this is not a super upscale restaurant but, at hundreds of dlls
level dinner, I expect a decent flow of food rather than just dropping everything at
- The deal braker was Food took forever to be initiated. I had a beer for at least 20minutes before I tasted anything.
If this restaurant was cheaper I would be okay with these issues. However, given the
price, service, taste ratio, I would pick Nishino or Shiro's. A bit more price but, truly agrees
with price, service, taste ratio.
This restaurant is just not a good deal overall.
Hopes this helps.
my (and my family's) favorite japanese restaurant in Seattle. I'm half-Japanese and we frequent many Japanese spots in Seattle, the PNW and beyond. Love love this gem - amazing sushi and appetizers - exquisitely prepared, subtle yet complex. and, not trying too hard. a gem!
Delicious. It started off right with what I would consider one of the best Mojitos I've had, the Chiso Mojito. Yum. I had the Chirashi bowl(sustainable version) and it was also excellent. SO fresh and amazing. The night was topped off by their house made Mochi. I didn't even know it could be so good. I highly recommend this place.
Best Sushi We Have Had in Decades, Many Decades! Seriously, we were invited to a Symphony party at the Chihuly Boathouse and decided to Uber nearby for sushi. We were totally impressed by the atmosphere, the service and the perfectly prepared and presented sushi and shashimi and other creative offerings. We wished we did not have to leave by 8:00 PM. We took several cards to pass out at the Symphony party and entered it into our shared address book, so that we could remember the name and return on every visit from Sun Valley to Seattle! Incredibly good and so cordial.
