Sushi Kappo Tamura Ratings and Reviews
Had a reservation, but still had to wait almost a half hour to be seated. Even though there were empty tables the whole time. Nigiri orders were for a single piece. Not the usual two, so I ordered half the amount I expected. The pieces of fish were small with lots of rice. Not what I would expect from a nice restaurant. At the end, we spent over 200 dollars for four, and were thinking if going for hamburgers after because we were all still hungry.
Server was rude, smug, millennial with attitude. It started when I asked for a fork for my special needs child so she could eat her rice. He was clearly annoyed. He disappeared and we were ignored for half an hour. I asked to have a new waiter, was told this was not possible and that my family of four needed to move to another section of restaurant, or continue with rude smugness, no apology. She seemed confused why I would not want a rude waiter, it must be an acceptable baseline for service. So many wonderful choices of sushi in Seattle, why bother with rude behavior. Manager did not seem to care one way or the other.
Best sushi in Seattle (in my opinion!) absolutely fresh, top quality fish. Splurge on omakase, you won't be disappointed! Taichi is welcoming and genuinely loves his customers. Brad is the most knowledgeable sake guy we've run into in a restaurant and pairs expertly with food. Hard to eat sushi anywhere else!
I'm traveling on business when in Seattle and can dine anywhere I want, but always choose to go to Sushi Kappo Tumara when I'm in town. It is by far the finest sushi I've ever had. Staff is very knowledge and attentive. Excellent menu and a lot of off menu options if you know what you are looking for.
The quality if their food is great and their service is phenomenal. Their staff are literally invisible as they wait on your table. Nowadays, I frequently encounter waiters who feel like interrupting me mind conversation to pour me more water, ask if I need anything else, or harass me to order more food.drink--no such service as SKT. It doesn't matter how good the food is, service is what keeps me coming back and it is safe to say that SKT does not need any improvement on either front.
Sushi, Sashimi, Ippin, rolls.... whatever your taste, TaMuRa has something special, fresh, and delightful. Whenever friends visit or we have a special occassion, we love to come to Tamura - we can always count on attentive service, artful and very fresh food, and a lovely atmosphere. This time one of us did not eat raw fish and we still had more than plenty of delicious cooked options to share.
We celebrated my son's birthday at his favorite restaurant in Seattle. The 5 course meal plus sashimi was awesome!! Excellent service. Totally loved all three desserts, the Mochi with red beans, the chestnut crème brûlée and the Yuzu panna cotta! Will be back when we are in Seattle!
My wife and had a wonderful date night here. We sat at the sushi bar which was the perfect choice. The chef was very friendly and prepared amazing food. This is literally the best sushi we have ever had. Keep in mind it's not cheap, but it's one of those nice occasions where you can clearly see what you're paying for.
Probably I have high expectation for this restaurant due to very good review online. But I do think it's overpriced compared to local decent Japanese restaurants. The ingredients were fresh but I didn't have the surprising feeling after eating them. I probably won't go again...
Comfortable, very fresh fish, and excellent dishes. The geoduck stew (I forget its Japanese name) was amazing. The waiter was knowledgeable and attentive. Afterwards you can take a walk on the waterfront. Not particularly cheap (for my budget), dinner for 2 with sake and gratuity was over $100. But certainly worth the quality.
Ate here for first time with friends. I messed up the reservation (requested table for two when there were three of us). We were offered outdoor seating which was not ideal- busy street, not much shade and it was hot. BUT they were so accommodating. Gave us wine chillers to keep our beers cold and hand towels that were cool. The food was fabulous. Especially the Ippin plate of mustard greens with tuna. The server was quite delightful and engaging. We found out as we were paying that he was the owner Steve. Will definitely go back with a proper reservation and will request counter seating to watch sushi prep.
Sushi Kappo Tamura is my favorite sushi spot in the city. You have to try it for yourself to know why. It always succeeds my expectations, even though I know how amazing the food is. The staff is beyond helpful and give really great advice on what to try and why. The craft cocktails and desserts do not disappoint. Five stars all the way around!!!
