The food was good but not nigiri. Rice is hard and fish is not fresh
I love this restaurant! The food is always amazing and the service is always top notch. I’d go there in a heartbeat any day.
We come here at least once a year. It seems, every time we leave we say to ourselves, we really should come here more often! The food is excellent in a very quiet and relaxed atmosphere. The sushi/sashimi offerings are extensive. We tried a flight of sea urchin sushi (uni) from BC, Maine and Hokkaido (Maine was our favorite; biggest "bang for the buck"). The five of us shared a number of appetizer plates. Karaage chicken, tonkatsu, Black Dragon Roll and Spider Roll. All were excellent. For our main course, all of us chose the Bara Chirashi sushi. A large bowl of rice topped with the chef's choice of sashimi and other items. It was delicious. One other unexpected bonus: from 5-6pm every bottle of wine is half price! Our New Year's Resolution for 2019? Come back to Sushi Kappo Tamura more often!
This was our first time in and we loved it! The 5 course meal with sake pairing was perfect. We can’t wait to come back!
So good. Quality fish and good quantity. Attentive staff and quick service but did not feel rushed.
Some of the best sushi I’ve ever had.
Everything was so flavorful.
A little pricey for what you got but worth it after eating it I guess.
The server acted like a bro and was way to loud. Would for ask not to be seated in his section again.
For sure I’ll be back and I’ve already told a ton of ppl about this place.
Great venue to take friends who you want to thank!
Our go-to sushi restaurant. Love the food here and the staff.
definitely some of the best sushi/sashimi in town. love this place.
Sushi Kappo Tamura is one of the best Japanese restaurants in Seattle. The quality of ingredients is superb and the service is wonderful too.
Excellent food and service! Edward was our server and he was great!!
My Wife and I went here for a date night, and we now have our new fav sushi spot in Seattle.
Love this sweet place. The food and service are first rate. I have dietary restrictions and everything I’m served is perfection. Thank you!!
Impressed! Although we elected to go for lunch rather than dinner, the menu still presented challenges in terms of what to order. The selection of sushi is extensive and the flavor and ingredient spectrum broad and intense. Everything about Kappo Tamura is first class. Your most challenging aspect of dining here will not be the parking (as some suggest), but choosing which fish and shellfish to sample. What a wonderful dining experience!
This is become our top sushi restaurant in Seattle. We had the Omakase twice (the dishes change with the seasons) and enjoyed it both times.
Good quality of fish
Wonderful. Suggestion to improve seat cushions to help guests sit more comfortably longer. Longer sitting means eating more & spending more 😉😏!
Professional service, food was fresh and they gave my dad a dessert off the restaurant week menu because he can't have dairy.
This is one of my top three favorite sushi places in Seattle. Inventive and delicious and, unlike many sushi places, the appetizers and desserts are also wonderful. Ambience is great and sashimi is always super- fresh. We were hungry, and the hostess was lovely when I called, moving our reservation to an earlier one. The server was outstanding and gave a beautiful overview of the tasting notes in our sushi flight.
Great place! Great Service
I can't say enough about Sushi Kappo Tamura. It is not only my favorite sushi restaurant, but my favorite period in all of Seattle. The service and food never disappoint, and only delight. I am continually blown away by the food, even though I go in with high expectations of repeating the last phenomenal meal I had there. If you haven't been, put this restaurant at the top of your list!
You know what, braised Wague reminded a homestyle Galbi that my mom used to cook... and the rice was so good.
Dessert marks one of top 3 in this year. Thanks to Steve Tamura!
One of my favorite restaurants for lunch or dinner. The food is always delicious, the staff are very friendly, and the ambience is perfect.
This review applies to Restaurant Week, with its 3 courses for $33 deal. Sushi Kappo Tamura fails to tell people that if you reserve a seat at the counter, you cannot have the Restaurant Week special. That needs to be put out there on Open Table, on their website, everywhere! Also, at most restaurants, the 3 for $33 is a good deal. I cannot say that's the case at Kappo Tamura. Their portions are quite small, and they repeatedly offer for you to order more. It's obvious that many patrons end up ordering more just because they're still hunger after 3 courses. The sushi seems fresh, and it was tasty. But nigiri servings are small.
We had the sushi omakase and it was best I have eaten. All the ingredients were so fresh and it was so different than other restaurants. It was a dining experience.
Superb service, providing helpful information about the menu items. Delicious and interesting food. We have been very satisfied with the whole experience every time we have eaten here.
This is a very nice restaurant with a good atmosphere. The staff are very helpful and friendly yet unobtrusive. The food was very delicious and the prices reasonable for the quality of fish that you get here. I definitely recommend it for a special occasion or a sushi lover.
Super fresh sushi and great service! Lovely ambience too.
I wanted to like this place so much but the service was terrible. Me and my friend went there for restaurant week. The hostess messed up my reservation and informed me that my reservation was for the counter and not a table. I informed her and showed her my confirmation and she said "all I can do it let you have a table for an hour and then you have to leave." I was so embarrassed and humiliated that I just told her I didn't care anymore and just sit us wherever. She informed me should would go ask her manager and then never came back. A nice gentleman came up asked me if I checked in yet. I told him what happened and informed him I would just sit at the bar. The guy making the sushi was really nice but the hostess was so rude and aloof we couldn't enjoy our meal. We won't be coming back here again.
No matter how often I go, I’m never disappointed. The staff are always very attentive and playful and thoughtful, the food is also always thoughtful, fresh and delicious! It’s so nice to be at a restaurant that is an overcrowded and overly noisy and you can have a wonderful intimate conversation without saying “what?” every few seconds.
Great food and great service! The fish is fresh and they know the sources. The tables are suitable for small and large groups, and the counter space is intimate for singles and doubles.
Great deal for Seattle Restaurant Week!! Sushi and sake pairing
The best. Period. Bob was on point and you are lucky if you can sit at the bar
Dined with family visiting from Chicago. We had the five course sushi dinner. Plenty of great food; they said it was the best dinner of their trip.
Best sushi in Seattle outside of Tokyo
Wonderful food as usual! Enjoy the “Toma”kase…a guided tour through the menu but server Edward Toma. We’ll b coming again on a regular basis.
Brought friends. The server chose their menu items. They absolutely loved everything! This restaurant is a hidden jewel in Seattle.
I absolutely love this place. They are purist when it comes to Sushi. There have been certain types of fish that I have been adamant that I do not appreciate. Sushi Kappo has been able to present those same varieties and I have loved them. The quality of the fish that they serve is really second to none. If you are looking for a California roll this isn't the restaurant for you. If you truly appreciate sushi they you will be very pleased.
The food is consistently excellent. Very fresh. Perfect service.
My go to Sushi Spot. Fantastic fish, service and staff. An extensive Sake selection paired with the knowledge to point you in right direction. The Omakase is well balanced, varied and seasonally driven. Always have a wonderful experience.
