A reservation must be modified or cancelled no later than 5 PM the night prior to the reservation date. For any cancellations after the deadline, there will be a charge of $50.00 plus tax per person.
We serve 2 omakase courses, both a 12 piece and 16 piece course. We feature seasonal fish on a daily basis, often accommodating the individual preferences, such as kosher style. However, there’s no vegetarian, vegan nor strict
gluten free alternatives.
We are open from Tuesday to Sunday and offer 3 seatings, 5:30 PM, 7:15 PM and 9:00 PM, except Sundays, when the last seating is 9 PM. We are closed Mondays.
We had a nice anniversary.
Food is incredible.
Staff is lovely.
Best sushi I have had anywhere, hands down. Nobu, Tao and others take note. Fantastic presentation at the sushi bar (only option), options are 12 or 19 pieces, chef’s choice. If you truly enjoy higher end sushi/sashimi, this is a must do
It's truly a hidden gem on the UWS, especially on a part of 72nd street that you wouldn't think of as having good (actually, great) sushi. My mother and I attended on a whim and hoping to discover a new restaurant in our neighborhood. The fish, rice, and preparation were all fantastic. The atmosphere was warm, friendly, and intimate -- while still being vibrant. The only quibble we had was that perhaps there was just a shred too much rice for each piece. While we both had the 12-course omakase, we both thought that having any more rice than that would have been too much. Also, in trying to not be rude/disrespectful to the chef, we both ate all of the rice... I also appreciated how thorough they were with placement of guests (each reservation had its own "card" so you knew where you were sitting) and that they reached out in advance to ask about any allergies or preferences. This is certainly not an every day or casual place, but I can definitely see myself coming back for a special occasion or for when guests are coming in from out of town. An incredible deal, great vibe, and very welcoming staff. Thank you!
Elite. Elite. Elite.
Always a pleasure. I’ve request Chef Feri every time and they’ve accommodated. It’s a great place to chat with loved ones while eating some phenomenal sushi.
Best sushi I have had in New York and for an excellent price! 16 course omakase for $125 is unheard of for this level of quality
Amazing food and service
I was hoping for more creative sushi pieces as Sushi Gari restaurant or and Sushi Seike. Pieces are mostly plain with sauce on top. But the fish is very fresh.
A wonderful experience - each piece is made in front of you, and every one is delicious.
Really cool and delicious place ... unique and classy a
High quality sushi, great service
A waitress a Japanese and very skinny was annoying
Overall food was nice but most of the sushi were little too salty for me and my GF. Staffs and chef were very friendly. The chef provided my GF a free piece for birthday celebration. Thank you.
Came here this past week for my wife’s birthday. We’ve been going to more omakase places this year and this place is at the bottom of the list compared to all of the cheaper options like Sushi by bou and sushi by M.
I got the $120-16piece option and she got the $90-12piece. Some pieces tasted good, but overall, it was just underwhelming and nothing really stood out. The oh toro didn’t taste like anything and with the underwhelming sushi pieces you just taste mostly rice. It’s not worth it and I wouldn’t recommend spending your money here.
Second time I have eaten here. It’s consistently amazing.
Great omakase at a fair price. One of the best in the city.
Words can not describe the wonderful food experience I had. Every piece was beautifully presented and it was happiness and heaven in each bite.
Thank you for an exquisite experience, Sushi Kaito!
Great omakase spot. Fish is always amazing. Relaxing ambience
Delicious! The best omikase I've had. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The 12 course would have been fine for me but we did the 16 and it was more than enough food!
Best omakase for a very good price! Amazing taste, very nice ambience, timely and attentive service. Sushi quality is superb, very good wine list too!
Amazing experience as always, great fish and friendly and experienced chefs.
Highly recommend. Very special place. Food, service amazing.
Unique... fantastic omakase experience
Delicious sushi... fantastic sushi chef... truly a wonderful experience. This is our second time here to celebrate a birthday and we will be back !
As tradition with quality comes to life in Kaito, you feel really special as you sit on the counter and have almost an exclusive customer service.
The fish are always ultra fresh ... the rice is served very fresh and at the right temperature.
This is an excellent omakase place. They really care. And they do clean, focused and very serious work. I’ve been 3 times. And am definitely going back.
Truly a worthwhile omakase experience. From the moment you sit down, it's clear you are partaking in an authentic curated meal which, for the price, is crafted from the finest ingredients. I won't spoil the story, but if you're interested in going, Sushi Kaito is sure to impress - just take a deep breath before the piece with a mint leaf in the middle, you'll thank me later.
One of the best omakase experiences that I’ve had and I’ve tried most of the top sushi restaurants in manhattan.
This was our second time at Sushi Kaito. It is an absolute pleasure to eat there. The Omekase service means that you really get to savor every course.
Once again Sushi Kaito gave my friends a wonderful dinner! It’s pricey, but it is well worth the money to go there. If you’ve never been there, do yourself a favor and go to revel in this marvelous atmosphere and beautiful sushi!
The sushi was sublime. The chef told us what we were eating and avoided anything I am allergic to. The rest of the staff was attentive but unobtrusive.
Flawless Omakase Dining. Very one on one experience with the chefs working right in front of you. You’ll see how every piece comes together. The fish is very fresh and succulent. Chew slowly. Enjoy each bite like it’s your last. We may never have fish the way we are used to with global warming killing more and more species. I had the 16 pieces and greedy gums asked for 4 extras at the end. Its hard to find great omakase. My favorite is still Akaoni in Carmel, CA. I’ve had Nimblefish in Portland, OR but they slice the fish so thin you can barely taste it. The variety here at Kaito is really top notch. Great intimate sushi bar dining experience. It was exactly what I wanted and the price was right too.
So much in a rush to get us out!! I have been there many times and I think now they are just about money!! I spent 350 there and rushed to leave
Excellent experience. Great fish selection and friendly attentive service.
Excellent food but if one spends $120 on dinner, he shouldn't be hungry at the end of the meal.
A standout omakase experience. It is a small and quiet space, so can either be lovely to meet/speak to your other diners, or can be annoying if someone is being too loud. The chefs explain the fish and the preparation, and everything is amazing. Both omakase plans (12 or 16 pieces) include miso soup. A curated sake collection, from reasonable to astronomical. They don't take walk-ins, as plan and prep for each diner is extensive. We love it, as good as any in the city.
Excellent Omakase, everything was very fresh and delicious. Very nice meal
This experience was heavenly. The quality and presentation were incredible. Our sushi chef was delightful and very knowledgeable. Great for special occasions. Delicious!
It’s the best Omakase for the $. Fits every occasion. It’s special elegant yet casual. Go !!!
I loved every tasty mouthful . It was amazing watching the sushi chef prepare each piece of the tasting menu. The fish was so fresh and the combinations were perfect.
Absolutely incredible quality sushi, wonderful attentive service (they even remembered our reservation was for a birthday and gave a free extra piece to the birthday person), and very unique ambiance since the entire restaurant is just the 12 chef's counter seats. $150 for 16-course omakase or $95 for the 12-course is high but a pretty good value compared to other top tier omakase spots.
