Really great sushi and Asian food options for very fair prices. Can't wait to go back again! This was my second time and I was just as pleased this time as the last.
Our server was amazing and kind. Loved the ambiance of the place
Great evening with great service and ambiance.
Food was good, definitely a nice meal out. But it didn't scratch the "I miss izakayas and Tsukiji market" itch. So if you're looking for good food, Sushi Hachi will definitely be that. But if you're looking to be transported back to life in Japan, this isn't quite that.
Best sushi in DC. That’s the tweet
Great food, nicely presented. Charming and attentive service. Would prefer soft, maybe Japanese music, rather than hip hop. Pretty empty when we dined early, but when busy could be noisy.
I had higher expectations due to the reviews but at the end the food was just ok. Nothing surprising. The fish was tasteless. The wasabi was terrible (probably just canned). The cocktails were just too much alcohol so didn’t taste good but just the spirit. The overall experience was just ok.
I had very high hopes for this Sushi spot in SE across from the Marine Barracks; however the food was disappointing. Everything taste like a random piece of fish. I order the salmon avocado roll and the spicy salmon roll; the both lacked flavor and overall tastiness. The wasabi was just green paste with no punch at all.
Great food, nice people, but need to fix the payment process so you aren’t making guests decide on everything and pay and tip before any food or drink is received.
Meh. Underwhelming. Nothing special. Everything seeming to lack flavor.
Sushi was nasty and warm. Chu toro was the worst I’ve ever had. I don’t know how they have such good reviews. Going out to eat in the height of the delta variant you typically see establishments try to spread guests out. The whole restaurant was almost completely empty and they chose to sit another guest right next to our table. I rarely leave reviews but the food really was terrible and thought this may help someone else out.
Everything was great! The food, service, and drinks.
I absolutely love Sushi Hachi! I’ve been there 4 times now and I am more than happy every time I leave there :D
Good appetizers and sushi at a very reasonable price.
Good local sushi place but skip the patio - eaten alive by mosquitos. Literally had 45 mosquito bites on my legs after only 10 minutes (not an exaggeration). We moved inside and the bartender asked “was it the mosquitoes?” So they KNOW it’s an issue and sat us out there anyway and have not resolved? Irresponsible.
This is my go-to sushi establishment. My experience is consistently great. Kudos to the Toast contactless ordering system!
One of the most unique dining experiences I've ever had in DC. Definitely recommend this little gem.
Waiter took other guest that arrived much later than us, gave attitude for no reason, left us hanging multiple times that we had to get their attention for the check which took an oddly long time even with direct eye contact and hand motions. The food was subpar and not filling even with multiple orders. And the wait was longer than usual given that there was only two other parties present. Restrooms were cleaned however, a person who looked under the influence was very rude to me and nearly cornered me in the restroom. I guess they allow public restrooms which isn’t the best choice in this situation. Besides this, the decor was warm and inviting. Whoever designed the restaurant did a great job.
Everything was excellent until we felt like we were being rushed to leave around 9pm. I wanted to order another glass of wine, but was given the check.
As always, had a really great experience at Sushi Hachi. The food is always incredible, staff are great, and it is such a nice atmosphere.
Love this place for takeout or dine in, they've certainly transitioned to handling covid very well.
Service was very slow. Poor presentation of food. Sushi tasted mediocre
So lovely, one of my favorite sushi places in DC. Great area, great value.
Great prices on very good sushi! Really liked the new way of ordering! Staff was amazing and responsive. Highly recommended!!
Incredible sushi for the price. Really enjoyed my experience; can't wait to go back!
Great food and fairly inexpensive. Only drawback is the waitress didn't come back to check on us to see if needed anything else (we would have gotten another glass of wine and sushi roll).
One of the best sushi’s I ever have, I can’t wait to go back again.
A calm oasis amidst the outdoor construction and heavy 8th Street foot traffic! Attentive and professional wait staff; perfect for a light lunch!
The QR code menu and ordering was ok for pandemic purposes. However, tipping prior to receiving service does put the cart before the horse in my view. Also, squinting at a tiny screen is no replacement for a nice and easy to read paper menu. Looking forward to the return of paper menus. Restaurant is lovely, however, socially distant dining won't set you far enough from the next party when one of its members is loud enough that you learn that he has two kids, including one named S T A R R, to the detriment of your own conversation. Service was fast and the servers extremely pleasant.
Sushi hachi never disappoints. such good quality
Best sushi place in the area. Always worth the trip.
This is probably one of the best sushi experience I've had in DC. My server Zaya was phenomenal at introducing me to the menu and every unique servings that came with. I arrived hungry and ordered the chef's platter. Needless to say, left nothing was on my trays. I will definitely be back to try other dishes. Everything looks and taste great as presented and not overpriced. Even the cocktails are delightful!
THE BEST. We've been getting their sushi delivered for the past few months. Amazingly quick service, great sushi.
I really enjoy Sushi Hachi. The prime beef that you cook on the hot stones is fun and also delicious. Their sushi is always very fresh and delicious.
Went out with friends to try this place out. Straight on to the point, their sushi rice is not good. Texture isn’t right and bland. Dish that enjoyed the most was ishyashi. Service was prompt and good. I might try them one more time in the future but overall, I wasn’t too happy with the taste of their nigiris and rolls
High quality, reasonably priced sushi in a great neighborhood. Service was fast and friendly. An overall fantastic experience! Would recommend for date night, or a (small) group of friends for dinner or birthday.
I made a reservation at 10pm. They called me at 9:30 saying the kitchen closes at 9:50. I said that’s impossible, I have a reservation at 10pm and asked to speak to a manager. Person said never mind I just wanted to confirm the reservation. I come a bit earlier at 9:50. As soon as I sit down they ask me to order everything I want because the kitchen is closing. I m getting upset at this point as I keep remind them it makes no sense since I have a reservation at 10. I ask to speak to a manager who said they can make me food but that the kitchen will close at 10:15. At this point I am LIVID, so I told them not to bother and walked out. This is so unprofessional. I went to this place 3 times a week and now I’ll never step foot there. Never been so disrespected at a restaurant like that.
Although they were EXTREMELY packed on Valentine’s Day And the food took a while, they continued to check in with us, bring free edamame and then miso soup, and never left us for too long without a water refill or checking in. Food was incredible and great value - especially for DC prices. Great wine & price for a bottle. Will be back
A gem of a restaurant located in Eastern Market, south of Rose's Luxury.
In many ways, Hachi has found the Goldilocks zone for serving up sushi at scale in the US, with its emphasis on quality, value, and repeatability in a pleasant, well-staffed setting.
How do they do this? Frankly, through concessions on technique and presentation in order to focus more fully on the principles above. It works, and the team at Hachi should be proud.
Chirashi has changed big time. So sad.
