This is probably one of the best sushi experience I've had in DC. My server Zaya was phenomenal at introducing me to the menu and every unique servings that came with. I arrived hungry and ordered the chef's platter. Needless to say, left nothing was on my trays. I will definitely be back to try other dishes. Everything looks and taste great as presented and not overpriced. Even the cocktails are delightful!
THE BEST. We've been getting their sushi delivered for the past few months. Amazingly quick service, great sushi.
I really enjoy Sushi Hachi. The prime beef that you cook on the hot stones is fun and also delicious. Their sushi is always very fresh and delicious.
Went out with friends to try this place out. Straight on to the point, their sushi rice is not good. Texture isn’t right and bland. Dish that enjoyed the most was ishyashi. Service was prompt and good. I might try them one more time in the future but overall, I wasn’t too happy with the taste of their nigiris and rolls
High quality, reasonably priced sushi in a great neighborhood. Service was fast and friendly. An overall fantastic experience! Would recommend for date night, or a (small) group of friends for dinner or birthday.
I made a reservation at 10pm. They called me at 9:30 saying the kitchen closes at 9:50. I said that’s impossible, I have a reservation at 10pm and asked to speak to a manager. Person said never mind I just wanted to confirm the reservation. I come a bit earlier at 9:50. As soon as I sit down they ask me to order everything I want because the kitchen is closing. I m getting upset at this point as I keep remind them it makes no sense since I have a reservation at 10. I ask to speak to a manager who said they can make me food but that the kitchen will close at 10:15. At this point I am LIVID, so I told them not to bother and walked out. This is so unprofessional. I went to this place 3 times a week and now I’ll never step foot there. Never been so disrespected at a restaurant like that.
Although they were EXTREMELY packed on Valentine’s Day And the food took a while, they continued to check in with us, bring free edamame and then miso soup, and never left us for too long without a water refill or checking in. Food was incredible and great value - especially for DC prices. Great wine & price for a bottle. Will be back
A gem of a restaurant located in Eastern Market, south of Rose's Luxury.
In many ways, Hachi has found the Goldilocks zone for serving up sushi at scale in the US, with its emphasis on quality, value, and repeatability in a pleasant, well-staffed setting.
How do they do this? Frankly, through concessions on technique and presentation in order to focus more fully on the principles above. It works, and the team at Hachi should be proud.
Chirashi has changed big time. So sad.
Every time I’ve dined at Sushi Hashi I am always so impressed by the quality of their fish, the presentation and overall value. Highly recommend this cute spot off barracks row for everyday dining or a fun date night trying new dishes!
Great quality sushi/rolls/Sashimi.. On the understanding it is an upscale sushi restaurant rolls and Sashimi pieces are quite small.. Service was attentive and friendly with exception of when asked if wanted another glad of wine, for that not to materialize until done with food.. Process are average, ambiance is good, pieces are small.. Love the presentation of the sake abd the detail of selecting you type of glass.. Not restaurants fault but really shady neighborhood.. Whatever you do, don't walk towards Pennsylvania Ave, when exciting restaurant, after dark
Everything was very fresh and tasty and service was friendly and quick.
The restaurant music was far too loud. Our server barely checked on us at all and was very slow. Cute spot, but not worth the bad service and loud music. Not good for a date.
This is, currently, my favorite sushi place. The food, staff, and ambience are great. Great place for a date night or getting together with a small group of friends.
Great for a light meal though you could get their chirashi bowl or multiple rolls. Good place for third date!
Our favorite sushi in DC. Great service, amazing sushi.
Lots of sushi in the DC area but this is the genuine article. Wish I could dine here daily!
Sushi Hachi has excellent sushi and a great vibe. The customer service is great - servers are very helpful and very nice. Highly recommended. I am definitely going back!
Loved it! Best sushi in DC so far after 1 year of living here!
The sushi is good quality and the place is cute.
However it is lacking in creativity and soul. Loud not very pleasant music, very robotic service (payment was taken on iPad while waitstaff stood by) but again a simple and well executed menu that was reasonably priced (especially for the hill). I’ll go back I’m sure but it won’t be my first choice.
Yummy. Great service and hosts
Some of the best sushi we have found on Capitol Hill
Cool vibe! Very nice inside! Small menu but interesting selections! The chirashi was good and the nigiri was outstanding! The wine list is is way too small! But well priced.
Really enjoyed ourselves!
This is a lovely restaurant that has a great ambience for a nice night out. Small enough that the noise level is low and feels private in your own space. The bar is a nice area too (happy hour applies only if you sit at the bar). The service was fantastic, felt very attended to at all times. The food was brought out like a presentation - very aesthetic and delicious as well.
Nice birthday dinner.
Wonderful food with great prices. Lovely ambiance!!! Will definitely come back again
Great service. Interesting rolls. Highly recommend!
Great food, fresh products and overall great value for the service in return.
One issue that we’ve had was that we requested to be seated in the corner of the restaurant away from the traffic because we have a 4 month old baby with us. The staff agreed to the request; I called to confirm the seating arrangement again but when we arrived, the staff sat us near the bathroom. Again, The reason for the seating request is to avoid potential hazards for the baby as well as making it a little comfortable for them so they don’t fuss. Well, we were disappointed that our request did not get honored regardless of multiple confirmations. Otherwise, the food is fantastic, we’ve been there 5 times and the chef delivered...every time.
The food was great for the price! The service was not outstanding but okay. Great date night spot!
Nice place for somewhat upscale sushi. Not for kids. Very little if you don’t want sushi. But that’s fine with me!!
This place was bomb.
We had the sashimi mix and it was delicious. Great assortment, sea urchin especially yummy. Wagyu beef combo very good too. Service was very attentive. We will surely be back.
The atmosphere was very cool. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. My friend and I got the sushi rolls which were good. We also split the octopus croquettes which were unbelievable. Would recommend to a friend looking for good sushi in dc
It was a lovely time-the food eas delicious and very frest. Service was excellent!
Go now!!! Manny and crew put on an exceptional gastronomic display of awesomeness. Everything was simple, but loaded with flavor and absolutely highlighted the ingredients. I love establishments that take care to ensure each diner enjoys the complete dinning experience.
ABSOLUTELY! One of the best gems in DC for fine sushi fresh from Japan.
As always, everything was perfect!
My friend and I had the $25 nigiri special at Sushi Hachi and it was delicious! The quality was great, and we were so full afterward! I will definitely be coming back!
A young restaurant where only time will tell if they are above average sushi house. The sushi nigiri is prepared with too much rice. Fish selections are bit limited and they cater to westernized versions such as salmon. The other appetizers and noodles are creative versions of traditional food offerings.
I’ve never had a bad bite at Sushi Hachi. It’s my favorite restaurant on the Hill. Be sure to try Kampachi Crudo and the tuna tartare.
