About this restaurant

  • Charming
  • Good for business meals
  • Healthy
Welcome to Sushi Hachi, Washington D.C.’s premier choice for quality sushi and incredible dining. The name “Hachi” is the Japanese word for the number eight. Signifying happiness and luck, the number eight defines our wishes for our customers and our community. We are also conveniently located on 8th street, so you’ll never forget where we are. Our owner, chef, and restaurateur Steve Yoon took over Sushi Rock in Arlington, VA with the drive to bring the incredible flavor and quality of fish he had in Asia to the community. Seven years later, Sushi Hachi was born. With more than 17 years of experience creating artisan sushi rolls with incredible flavor, it is our pleasure to bring the best to you. Our handpicked team of chefs all have experience in Japan, carefully constructing and rolling the perfect sushi roll. Sushi Hachi combines experience and innovation with incredible quality to present delicious, affordable sushi to our guests. We only use the finest ingredient

The sushi was very tasty and the servers were very attentive. We made reservations to ensure we had a table for us - glad we did because it got busy!

From start to finish, it was a great experience. The only improvement I'd suggest is a different recipe for the ceviche. It just wasn't complex enough and was too sweet. Overall, fantastic place!

The best value is the chef’s tasting menu at $37, which comes with several tasty starters and an excellent array of fresh sushi. Top notch!

Every. bite of food was delicious. We did have some minor service issues but they were handled politely with an apology and a smile. We'll go back again.

Sushi Hachi is my favorite restaurant for sushi in the city based on its value. There are other far more expensive and luxurious spots, but Sushi Hachi really finds the perfect medium by providing ingredients with a noticeably fresh taste without going overboard on complex fancy dishes and drinks. The simplicity of the menu, the comforting ambiance, and the attention to detail — specifically regarding the beautiful ceramics, like the sake cups you get to pick from — make this one of my favorite places (I even went for my birthday this year).

Diego was our friendly server. He was totally fine. Overall the food was very mid. We tried a couple hundred dollars worth so we def made our way around the menu but I wasn’t too impressed tbh. We even gave creative control to the chef and what we received was basic. We ordered a bottle of wine and didn’t get any wine presentation by a different server. He just opened and poured. Heard good things so maybe give it a shot, but i personally won’t be back for that.

Sushi Hachi is high quality at s very affordable price. They are my go to take out spot and I’m always pleasantly surprised when I go in person. Their special rolls come in smaller orders, which also means a lower price tag. So, if you’re indecisive like me, that gives you some room to try a few. If you go in person, the hot stone beef is a must. For the price point, quality, and presentation, it’s definitely worth and that value is hard to come by in DC. I find the quality of the fish excellent, and, as such, any of the sashimi options are a great and reliable choice. Can’t recommend this place enough. DC needs more restaurants like it.
