We were seated promptly despite being 11 minutes late to our reservation. Our server was attentive and the service provided was prompt. The sashimi and rolls served were exceptional. There is a very romantic and yet very relaxed ambiance to this establishment. Highly recommend dining here!
The place is super cute and the service is great - however the sushi itself is just not good. eel texture was weird, the sushi was squished and not presented well and made with what seemed like spanish pepers, rice ,etc.
Sushi Hachi is the best addition to 8th Street in years! Never a bad meal, never a bad bite. Friendly waitstaff and food is prepared in relatively short time. This is my favorite restaurant at the moment! Don’t miss the blue crab tuna tartare and the kampachi crudo!!
2nd time we have been to Sushi Hachi and absolutely loved it (again)!!
Excellent fresh sushi. Truly one of the best sushi restaurants in DC.
This place isn't my cup of tea, but then maybe I am told and cranky for it. There is no "traditional" sushi on the menu, so I recommend looking at the menu online before you go. The menu is small and odd, as are the drinks. But it was the noise that was so much harder to take. It's a small restaurant, and when it is full, it is really really noisy. There was a table of adults and children next to us so that made it even worse. In brief, I wont return. There are plenty of better sushi restaurants in DC and plenty of better restaurants on 8th St.
Went with our son. Delicious. Had sushi, both vegetarian and fish.
It was loud when we went at 7:30 pm. But the food was fresh and amazing! Best Sushi/sashimi I have ever had!!
Food was exceptional
Love the location
Music was a touch loud but still good
My wife loved it, and she is a sushi lover
The food was GREAT. The service was GREAT. The ambiance was GREAT. There was a problem with fruit flies however. it started with one and by the end of our meal there were 10 of them buzzing around our table landing in our drinks and on our food. The manager gave us 50% off and a free dessert which was very kind. He did however say that he knew of this issue before the day I ate there though, and that someone would be there to take care of it the following day. I do not however find this to be acceptable because you are running a food establishment and cannot have fruit flies landing on peoples meal!
Waitress brought 4 courses in 10 minutes. I asked her to slow down twice. The last course was soggy. It has obviously been prepared and left in the kitchen.
My 2 previous experiences Were five stars
I do plan to go back again, but they need to pay attention to training the wait staff
Some of the best service I’ve experienced in DC. We did the Omakase, which is a very good value for the quality of food. The first course stood out in particular- the squash soup, of all things! Will be back.
Awesome sushi rolls, especially the crab with truffle. Would have liked a couple more pieces of Wagyu (wouldn’t we all) but overall very very good.
Always fresh sushi and prompt service!
Love their chirashi bowl and seaweed salad.
We also found a new favorite, Spicy Salmon Roll!
Some of the best sushi I’ve had in DC! I would highly recommend sushi hachi.
Literally everything was delicious. The sashimi and nigiri were fresh, the rolls were full, and the wagyu hot stone was fun. 10/10 would sushi here again!
Small restaurant but expertly designed and the atmosphere is perfect. A limited sushi/sashimi menu doesn't limit on presentation or taste. Sushi Hachi could be the best in town, or at least could give its higher priced competition a run of their money. Sashimi dishes are served in unique bowls, with various pickled condiments. The fish is so fresh. And while the menu offers a limited number of rolls, they are amazing. We haven't tried anything else on the menu...except perhaps the freshest, best dessert anywhere. Order the green tea creme brulee and you'll be so happy! Highly recommend this restaurant!
Great food, great drinks, great service. High quality sushi and creative dishes. Service is great. Casual for the high end food, but that's not a bad thing.
Delicious entree, rather pricey, rather loud. Skip the drinks and dessert and just focus on the main dishes.
I had a great experience at Sushi Hachi. It was my first time and my server Daria as well as Nate made me feel very welcomed and at home. I loved the atmosphere. Perfect for a nice, quiet date night. The restaurant was beautiful and had dark tones mixed with metallics. The candle light added to the ambiance. Everything is very detailed at Sushi Hachi from the coin toilets to the details in the sushi. My food was AMAZING! I had a yellow tail roll, a spicy tuna roll, octopus croquettes, and miso soup! The miso was so good for the cold day I was in there! Would definitely recommend and will have to bring a friend next time.
Always good food. A comfortable but not-too-casual atmosphere. Very polite service. I love having this place in the neighborhood.
Amazing sushi chef that adds his own flavor nuisances to his sushi creations.
Their Omakase is far better than the menu and price suggest. Really a great find.
Elegant decoration and delicious Omakase menu, great place for dating.
I’ve been to Sushi Hachi a handful of times now, and each time my experience gets better and better. Firstly, the staff is amazing and incredibly kind, helpful and makes me feel like an old friend stopping in, greeting me by name (which is amazing in a city this size). Secondly, the food is top notch—offering a 7 course fine dining experience at affordable pricing, as well as everything on their menu. Thirdly, their mixed drinks are delicious and unique.
Overall, this is by far my favorite restaurant in town— the customer service is impeccable and I haven’t been anywhere that gives the “welcome back again” vibe quite like Sushi Hachi.
Will always recommended this restaurant!
Ps due to their popularity, I would highly recommend making reservations, especially on the weekend.
It’s a great neighborhood sushi spot— actually better than just a local joint.
The fish is wonderfully fresh and prepared beautifully. The staff is friendly and efficient. Nice atmosphere.
Menu very limited. Sushi was not memorable.
one of my favorite Japanese restaurant in dc!!! worth to try it
Family Friday night out
Absolutely wonderful tasting menu!
Friendly waitresses and Excellent food. I will definitely come again.
Always my go to for sushi :)
Compliments to the Chef(s) and Tony! Delicious food and atmosphere. Will definitely visit again.
Finally got to eat at Sushi Hachi and loved the food! The sashimi was very fresh and we also got the wagyu beef appetizer which was delicious. Will definitely be back!
We were over for dinner the weekened of Valentine's day and it was super packed. Yet the host, servers, and manager were incredibly kind and offered great service to all of us waiting for our tables. They are a very unique place where the food and service are equally outstanding. We have been there a few times and we always leave so impressed with the entire establishment. Sushi Hachi is by far our favorite restaurant in the DMV!
The food was great. Every dish that passed by our table gave us buyers remorse, so we will definitely be returning. All the sushi was fresh, The grilled weel was great. We also got the beef dish which was fun to cook tableside.
Great food and service!
Fantastic dining experience from start to finish. Sushi is top notch. Drinks and wine selection on point. Highly recommend
Atmosphere was great, food was delicious service was top notch!!
