It was truly excellent as good as Ginza in Tokyo. Young chief Suzuki san is real mater chief of Sushi
Incredible experience! I’ve had my fair share of fine dining in Japanse cuisine but this blew everything out of the water. The Omakase does not get better then this and then the overal service provided by every staff member makes you feel so special and feel very spoiled.
No matter if you’re new or familiar this is quite the treat!
(I usually don’t write reviews like this so take that in account)
Omakase is my guilty pleasure and it was such a treat to experience this Michelin Star restaurant! The staff was kind and attentive, the fish was fresh and spectacularly prepared, and they went above and beyond with a special birthday treat of champagne and a candle with dessert! Will definitely be back next time we’re in NY!
Perfect anniversary date we had. We were already thinking when we will revisit right after we stepped out the restaurant. I like how they showed us what fishes we were eating with the iPad. Staffs are friendly and they pay attention to details. Also, we received complimentary drinks for our anniversary. It was just a perfect date we had.
Extraordinary experience.
Fush quality off the charts
The sweeyest uni I have ever had
Cherry trout!
Octopus roe!!!
Barracuda
Lean tuna
What a memorable meal
The entire staff: kind, welcoming, professional
Only con is we felt quite rushed
Too bad really. Will certainly return.
Always a perfect, personal experience.
This is now my favorite sushi restaurant in the United States. Attentive staff. Skillful sushi chefs. Top ingredients. These combine to offer an unforgettable dining experience. The only equivalent sushi experience in NYC today is Masa. The lunch omakase is a bargain for what you get.
I tried octopus row sushi for the first time here. I got emotional about how great this new taste experience was. Each piece is carefully and immaculately prepared and presented. Each grain of rice is perfectly shaped and cooked. Every bite that I have ever eaten here has been memorable and moving.
One of my top favorite sushi places in NYC. Definitely worth the experience!
Amazing tasting experience, staff is very polite and service is unique.
The service was great, the food was amazing, and the chef was ridiculously funny. We would definitely love to come back some time again - thank you for a great dining experience!
Simply the best in nyc
The service and accommodations were phenomenal as not only the servers very hospitable and welcoming, but the chef also did not hesitate to interact with customers. The quality and freshness of the sushi is definitely worth the price, especially given the flavors, textures, and quality of individual ingredients. I look forward to going back soon!
The lunch menu, I personally think, has a really good value. The fish were fresh, and I could actually taste the very flavor of each piece of sushi. The traditional nigiris was really authentic and resembled the tastes I had from top sushi restaurants in Japan. The dessert at the end was really good.
The Uni and Miyazaki beef nigiri was great, I would totally pay an extra 45 dollars for that. However, the truffle toro nigiri was less flavorful in comparison. The two ingredients just have their own very special and strong flavor, and they just overwrote each other in this nigiri.
We had Yuzu Hi-chu and the strawberry champagne. They were all some good mix.
The service was comfortable and authentic. I felt being really cared by our server. And our server and our chef all went out to say goodbye to us.
It was in total a memorable dinning experience.
Very good. Decent food good service

My favorite restaurant in NYC and I have been there so many time. I love all the sushi here.
Great experience
Amazing preparation and taste. It’s pricey but worth every penny. The omakase dinner will definitely fill you up, but you will love every bite.
We went for a victory lunch which serves omakase (thank you thank you thank you) as 10/13/15 pieces starting at 100$ (which is reasonable and amazing to have as an option for lunch!!!!). You truly get what you pay for here. The rice is very special and made each piece more memorable. The fish was nice but I think I would have prefered a few slices without the sauce (although the sauce was well balanced and one of the best I've had, I appreciate naked fish or a few salt flakes in between). The ginger actually looks like ginger and is sliced roughly (in case you care about these things). The service is impeccable. We were well attended to and the sushi chef was very professional and everything anyone would imagine and hope one to be. It was the first time I've ever had a sushi chef walk me out (and definitely completes the experience!!!)
soso good
lunch
They put tremendous pressure on you to leave so they can prepare for the next seating. Ruined the entire experience. At these prices, won’t be returning
I have not had better sushi anywhere; unusual for US choices flown in fresh from Japan, prepared perfectly, served attentively and graciously. The service was impeccable. The egg custard with matcha and sweet bean dessert was amazing. If you enjoy savoring thoughtfully orchestrated taste combinations, you will appreciate Sushi Gonzaga Onadera.
Amazingly I was transported back to Japan for a meal without leaving NYC. The service and the meal surpassed my expectations. I've wanted to try this place for a while but it's been booked non stop. The tuna was amazing and fresh. The attention of details was amazing. Our sushi chef was on point and knife skills were amazing to watch. Thanks for an amazing meal.
Une expérience culinaire extraordinaire.
Une excellent prix pour la quantité et la qualité de la nourriture.
Je le recommande à n'importe tous
Very expensive and luxurious experience. Outstanding service. A once in a lifetime meal!
とても美味しく、素敵な食事でした。日本で食べる寿司と遜色ない素材、味は最高でした。また伺いたいと思います。
This place is expensive, but if you crave truly authentic Japanese service with amazingly fresh and tasty sushi---don't miss it!
Fantastic on every metric. Looking forward to a second visit.
A little disappointed. The lunch omakase felt really rushed. The sushi chef got our order wrong. 3 of us ordered the 15 piece omakase and 2 ordered the 13. He switched it up. We got 2 rounds of the bonito. However, the extra o-toro was nice.
Brilliant first time experience of omakase for the uninitiated. Service was exceptional and the staff was very friendly and forthcoming with conversations and not very "snooty" like in typical Michelin restaurants.
Absolutely the best sushi in NYC. And I’ve tried them all.
The best sushi experience in New York City. Everything was excellent, from the moment we entered the restaurant we were welcomed and greeted by the hostess with respect. She took our coats and showed us to our sears. The meal experience was also amazing as the sushi chefs were cooking right in front of view and as every separate course out of 20 that came out the waitress showed us a picture of the fish ok an iPad. The sushi 🍣 was presented and tasted very good and the whole experience was amazing. The sake choices were also excellent and everyone treated us with respect. They even put a candle on the desert for my wife’s birthday and have us Champaign to celebrate. As we left the chef and other members greeted us and siD goodbye. Overall perfect experience
Perfect. Except for those who confirm reservations in the concierge. She's very rough. But the quality of the food and the chef makes me forget everything.
As always, the food, service, and attention to detail were exquisite.
Visited at Lunch. Perfect technic and service.
Very professional and traditional.
Felt like I was in Japan.
Great service and one of the beat omakase
I had so far.
Great quality fish. Amazing time.
Everything excellent aside of the fact that nigiri need to be improved.
You have a certain level of expectation when a lunch costs more than $100. The service was top notch. The food was excellent. For a restaurant known for high end authentic Japanese cuisine with the name Ginza and with a Michelin star, I was actually disappointed when our Omakase sushi chef was Chinese who didn’t speak Japanese. I have nothing against non-Japanese sushi chef. I’m sure he is well trained and approved by the owner but we’re talking about commitment to authenticity. This is not all-you-can eat sushi deal from Groupon. There is a reason we go to Sushi Ginza Onodera and spend such amount of money. It’s about honoring the spirit and delicacy of authentic sushi experience. It’s the same reason that I go to a Mexican restaurant to buy tacos and buy a $800 leather shoes made in Italy. This sounds worse than the actual experience but I felt my expectation was slightly betrayed.
