If you're picky about the quality of your Sushi, Sashimi, and Japanese food in general, this is not the place for you. Moreover, this place is very noisy, and unclean. We were surprised to see customers with tank tops, and needless to say, if you know what this means, ..... On top of everything, this is more of a Chinese restaurant supposedly serving Japanese food. For my wife and I, this was the fist and last time.

Great staff and service! Food was INCREDIBLE! The sushi was absolutely phenomenal. We also got edamame- great. The spicy yellowtail appetizer was super good but just small amount for the price. Wish we wouldve gotten a bit more. I got the spicy mistletoe sushi roll, incredible. Spider roll was great as well. Need to try more Everything I would give a 10/10 and I will definitely be back here soon.

To preface: I don’t particularly care for sushi. While nothing against it, I’ve never really been a big “fish” person, and I usually enjoy other staples of Japanese cuisine. I’ve had really good sushi before in Hawai’i at such places ranging from the more every-day such as Genki Sushi — to the higher end at Hanale and Sushi Taro. But Sushi Damo, I can say with absolute confidence, is where I’ve finally discovered a love for sushi that has left me returning more frequently than any of my other favourite restaurants. The Golden Flame roll with its delicious yuzu sauce that leaves a welcoming, lightly tart sensation that evolves into a lovely sweet aftertaste is unlike anything I’ve experienced in sushi before. Though I would credit other institutions for introducing me to sushi, my love for the cuisine comes from Sushi Damo.

The meal was ok but nothing to make me come back. The udon soup was bland. The wait staff over poured the beer, kind of cleaned it up but didn't replace it. Just laughed it off. The wait staff was constantly asking if we wanted to order anything else while we were eating and then no where to be found when it came time to pay the bill.

Food was decent but nothing special. Took an hour an a half to get 3 rolls on Christmas Day dinner. Rolls were overpriced. Waitress did not inform us of any delay. Chicken teriyaki came to the table cold and had to be returned. No apologies from the staff for the poor service. And they tacked on a 20% service charge/tip without telling us because there were 7 in our party. I will not be back.

Most tables were empty, I asked not to be near the window but the hostess ignored my request. The waitress put down the bottle of wine on the table and left without making me taste the wine. Some of the tempura was warm but some was cold. The entrees and sushi arrived while we were still eating the appetizers because otherwise "they would get cold"... Paying took too long. The waitress tried to be nice though. The sushi nigiri is expensive given that the quality is just OK.

At the time of our booking the restaurant was deserted. There were no other patrons eating at tables and when we walked inside there were no staff in sight. We said "hello" walked towards the back and still no sign of life. We turned around and walked out, across the road to the bustling Thai restaurant !

Food was great but I thought the portions were far too small for the price it was. It’s been hard for me to find good quality sushi in the area so it was nice to find fish that tasted good but I thought my cuts were about half the size they should have been. We were the only table in there at the time and the service was great but I can’t speak to it when they get busier. I may go back because the quality was good but for the price I’m just not sure if it’s worth it.

This was and is hands down the BEST Sushi I've ever had. The Sushi Chef was accommodating to my request to use less rice in the nigri and rolls. The fish was SOOOOO fresh, sweet, buttery and TASTY!!! I strongly recommend this restaurant who wants good food and service. I had a little bit of a challenge when they told me they would charge for extra wasabi but after tasting it it was clearly made fresh and NOT from a tube, it was well worth the price. Amazing eating event!!! I strongly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves sushi. I can't wait to go back.

Sushi Damo is a lovely restaurant, whether you sit inside or out. The food is wonderful, with a nice variety of rolls, appetizers, cocktails, and several good options for the person who doesn’t like sushi. I’ve had the harabi shrimp and calamari salad at least 3 times each, and my friend ordered the sea bass entree twice, and we’ve enjoyed the dishes each time, with the kitchen demonstrating their consistency. They are also very accommodating. My server verified that the bartender could make my lychee martini “weaker” as I requested, or “not as strong,” as it was reported back, with the added information that he wanted to be sure it maintained it’s balance. It was perfection: deliciously delicate, subtly sweet, I wanted another one! When the Maryland-Cali roll came out with a mayo mixed into the crab that wasn’t described on the menu and that I couldn’t eat, she took it back to the kitchen without issue, then helped me find another new roll to try, minus any mayo. She was so pleasant and attentive, it was like being hosted by a friend — a friend with an amazing sushi chef and cook in the kitchen! Also on our table: field greens salad, sea bass entree, lobster tempura roll, and brown rice hot tea.

I’ve been coming here for over a decade. It really holds up. Its been about 2 years since I came in after having a bad experience here during quarantine. Yesterday was my first time back. The staff are noticeably younger, and it seemed a few people were shadowing or training others. My service was good. The music however… when I come to an establishment such ad this I don’t expect to hear vulgar language and expletives during my dining experience. Unfortunately about 10 minutes after seating the music changed and it was not pleasant and I had to apologize to the person I was taking a call with for the raunchy music in the background. Other than this place continues to hold up after all this time.

I understand that the aftermath of covid resulted in slower service. However, not once did our server stop at our table to see how our food was, if we needed anything else or if we were happy with our food. I was charged $1 every time my kids asked for a sauce (gosh, we have to start paying for ketchup like Europe lol and no, we didn't order ketchup but in a Japanese restaurant it was like ketchup). the waitress was a little dull too.

The food wasn’t what it has been on the past. My sushi hardly had any fish in it and tasted like blow torch. It was mostly rice. My tomago just tasted like cold egg. I probably won’t be dining here again.

We have been going to Sushi Damo for years. Lately their wait staff has proven to be very inexperienced (but very nice). We have had our main dishes delivered before our appetizers during both of our last two visits, the last time after our server forgot all about them. This is getting frustrating. While the food and ambiance are quite good, we are at the point of looking for a replacement restaurant that has better service.

I can’t get enough of the specialty rolls at Sushi Damo! The recipes are unconventional and full of surprises. The Twilight Roll is my favorite go-to, but I’ve never had anything there I didn’t like. Also, I’m picky about miso soup flavors but love theirs.

Excellent menu with some really creative, non-traditional roll options. I appreciated how they were able to mark the menu with items that were out of stock so I could order accordingly. Portions were a little small for the price but I suppose that’s another covid-era change that’s here to stay. Service was friendly and knowledgeable but they are visibly understaffed — like so many places these days, diners should bring patience and be reasonable with their expectations. The meal was worth the wait.
