These traditions complemented one another, and neither of the two sides absorbed the other to the point where one disappeared. SusherÍa menu is the result of this great union and the experience/vision of Mauricio Fraga-Rosenfeld and his dedicated culinary team lead by Peruvian Executive Chef Javier Angeles-Beron.

About the experience -
Susheria is a unique casual-glam restaurant concept where you will enjoy Izakaya, a Japanese style of service. The Japanese version of tapas, dishes will be served when ready. Izayaka is a perfect moment to enjoy life, laughter and great conversations while sharing food and drinks.

    The Chef’s curated menu was incredible. Growing up outside the country I was raised on both Peruvian and Bolivian Food. The ceviche was something I haven’t tasted since I was outside the country. It brought back so many memories. Very nostalgic, rustic, flavorful ceviche. Gaucho sushi roll was also excellent, very fresh and flavorful. Servers were top shelf, and so where the hosts who routinely scan the restaurant to aid when needed. One thing I think the restaurant should do better is probably the bathroom. But beyond that this place was 10/10

    Family with a younger child screaming every now and then. Sitting and waiting for a while in-between courses. Tried to order everything at one time so we wouldn't have to sit and wait between course. Portions were small for the cost. We went to another place to buy more food. Figured that is how much stuff is in Georgetown area. What I really wanted was on the Dinner menu unfortunately no exceptions could be made. I appreciated the complementary birthday dessert. That was nice 👍🏽

    Susheria is a VERY Americanized sushi place. Actually it seems to be a restaurant that also serves sushi. When I went, they had no Japanese beer and no Sake.

    Booked a table for 7 for the 4th of july with 3 weeks in advance. Even on the day before I was asked via text message to confirm the reservation. We arrived there and the restaurant was closed!! Unacceptable!! Anyhow the food was not that great for the price (as we were once there before) but location was nice…

    We had a great experience at Susheria. My group and I ate family style so we had the opportunity to try many different sushi rolls and fresh sashimi. I would easily recommend Susheria to a friend if they were looking for a place to get sushi in Georgetown.

    We visited on a whim after discovering our intended restaurant was closed. We totally lucked out! The new menu is exceptional - and every dish we had was amazing. So much so that we had two orders of lemongrass chicken gyoza - the first was so good we ordered more. The pisco sours were excellent, at least as good as those I’ve enjoyed in Peru. And the red bean whisky sour was a delightful adventure. I suspect we will be attempting to replicate it at home for some time. Staff were attentive and friendly, but not intrusive. Noise level was good, where you could hold a conversation at a normal volume. HIGHLY recommended venue!

    Service left a lot to be desired, with waiters/waitresses clearly overwhelmed trying to serve too many people and tables. They automatically snuck an 18% tip into the bill for a party of four - not cool at all for a service that was not deserving of it.

    This restaurant serves sushi with a latin twist. Sort of like Nikkei style Peruvian food. I had the patacones with crab which were sweater than I expected. The nigiri sushi was good and fresh but not spectacular. The rolls were quite tasty. The ambiance was very stylish. I would like to go back when it’s warmer and sit outside.

    Great atmosphere - felt very fancy. Food sounded exciting on paper but turned out underwhelming, especially for the price. Good drinks though. Servers were friendly, though a little inattentive. I did dine in at 5 when they were just starting dinner service and not many diners, so could be just slow start to the evening for them.

    4 stars due to service being extremely poor. We had to wait over 30min even though we had a reservation. The waiting between meals, i think i only saw our waitress once and NEVER came to check on us. Unfortunately even the most amazing food cannot overcome terrible service. The food was good, and if you don’t care for poor service its worth it. (Again dont come hungry or in a rush or if you have anxiety when it comes to time) everything was a party in my mouth!! The Fresco Sushi and Volcano Sushi its a most also tofu quinoa salad. Ohhh if you drink order a chica mora pisco sour for the table if ur drunk you will oversee the bad service.

    Our server seated us and brought water and then when we asked for the happy hour menu she told us we could only have that menu in the lounge (not mentioned anywhere online) and when we moved tables, no one ever came back to take our order before happy hour ended, so we left.

    I had the best birthday experience! The food was amazing and the service was excellent. The restaurant gave me a free raspberry cheesecake that said happy birthday to celebrate my birthday and it was amazing as well. I definitely recommend this place. Best sushi spot in DC!

    Maybe we caught them on a bad night... My husband and I came to Susheria for our date night after passing the restaurant a few times in the past but never stopping in. We were pleasantly surprised to find many reservations available on OpenTable, but disappointed when we arrived to an overcrowded restaurant with several patrons waiting in the tiny doorway for a seat. We were checked in and encouraged to "have a seat at the bar" while we waited...except there were no seats available. After about 15 minutes of double Dutch (dodging out of the way of patrons and servers passing by) we were seated in one of the dining areas. Our waitress was kind and welcoming. I ordered one of the Pisco sours and it was delicious and even more beautiful to look at. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer along with the Sebastian and Chicha spicy rolls as my entree while my husband ordered the wagyu steak and arugula salad for his entree. It took about an hour for our food to be served--the calamari and my husbands food came out first while I waited another 30 minutes for my sushi to arrive. I'm guessing the kitchen was backed up due to the overcrowded nature of the restaurant. It would have been nice if our food came out in the order we intended and at the same time...my poor husbands meal was cold of course by the time mine came to the table. Luckily, the wagyu was delicious and the salad was especially tasty (the vinaigrette was on point!). The Sebastian was my favorite roll. The chicha spicy roll had charred salmon on top and it was honestly almost inedible due to a profound gassy flavor, I'm guessing due to the torch used to char the salmon. I should've sent it back but after all the time we wasted, I mean waited, I was pretty much over it. I'd be willing to try susheria again and hope for a better experience.
