About the Menu -
Like Japan, Peru has a millennia-old history. They are two great, ancient civilizations with two major culinary traditions. These traditions complemented one another, and neither of the two sides absorbed the other to the point where one disappeared. SusherÍa menu is the result of this great union and the experience/vision of Mauricio Fraga-Rosenfeld and his dedicated culinary team lead by Peruvian Executive Chef Javier Angeles-Beron.
About the experience -
Susheria is a unique casual-glam restaurant concept where you will enjoy Izakaya, a Japanese style of service. The Japanese version of tapas, dishes will be served when ready. Izayaka is a perfect moment to enjoy life, laughter and great conversations while sharing food and drinks.
Great food and ambiance. Unusual combination of Japanese and Peruvian food. A bit pricey but excellent food. Very creative. There was even a saxophone player joining the DJ on a sat night
The service was very disorganized. The cocktails were average (I tried 3 hoping to land on something that was memorable). I had hoped for better food based on the price point. Pretty standard sushi spot if not overpriced.
Food was amazing and very nice atmosphere. Will definitely go back again.
Food is great, but you need to get a much better wine list, and better service.
“Hey, is the salmon coming?”
“Hey, is the salmon still coming?”
“Do you remember the salmon?”
“I remember you ordered salmon but you never picked one”
“Which salmon sushi?”
“There is only one”
Then they charged us for a different bill than they presented us with. An extra $40.
I would recommend Susheria for its sheer ambiance and the uniqueness of its menu. The food portions were relatively small and not anything too amazing, their sushi menu was severely underwhelming.
We came for Valentine’s Day dinner. Overall our experience was good. Our server was very nice and did a great job making sure we were good. The overall ambiance was trendy and the music was good, albeit a little loud. The only weird part of the night was the hostess walked around and took video, with flash, every 10 minutes or so. That was a little awkward. But overall a good time. Be sure to get the tempura asparagus!
Perfect date spot. Great service, food, drinks and ambiance!
Nice spot on a slow night apparently. Didn’t really need the reservations. I can imagine it’s significantly busier once weather changes. Great sushi variety/options. Decent cocktail menu.
Lovely staff and nice location. A bit “night af the foxy” for ambiance and the sushi was just a bit over okay.
Outstanding meal and service...live entertainment was an added bonus. We will visit again.
Nice spot but very loud. There was live music which was a nice spot but if you are trying to converse over dinner you may want to try another location. Very hip and in and very DC!
Live ballerina and violinist. Knock out sushi. Overall incredible experience!
Went for a birthday dinner, and it was great. Food was amazing. Environment was great, they had an artist playing the violin during dinner and he was great. Sang happy birthday and had flan the was sooo delicious... absolutley loved the braised rib roll, as well as the Buenos Aires which is a crab roll that was absolutely fantastic... going back to continue exploring the menu
The staff was incredible dismissive and rude. Our desert came when we were only about halfway through our entree and the staff attempted to rush us the entire time. Further, the food was wildly overpriced considering the relatively underwhelming quality of the food.
Food came out too fast. Food was good but just felt rushed throughout.
The sushi was decent but their rice bowl was terrible. There are a lot of potential because the ambiance is great but the food was mediocre.
We were the only ones in the restaurant (it was 3:30pm) and service was surprisingly slow, but the food was absolutely great. I’ve been a few times before and haven’t been disappointed!
I was looking forward to having dinner here with my daughter. The place looks great and the service was very good. However, the food is not. Bland and not worth the money.
We loved our experience here. It was very welcoming, calm, and beautiful. The service was amazing and the sushi was even better. Thank you for the birthday help. :)
Great experience — good food and atmosphere.
I arrived on time and they did not honor my reservation. I was told I had to wait over 20 minutes to get my table. No apologies or explanations. Awful experience
Very cool concept and menu. I love Peruvian and Sushi! I did find the food a little bland for my taste and had to add sriracha, but for most people it's probably perfect.
I do think the price for the serving size/quality is slightly high, but this is probably due to location. For DC area, it's probably reasonable.
I wished my Criollo had some spicy broth to pour over it. I love Criollo soup and that would have made it perfect!
The service was excellent! The atmosphere is great. I'll go back.
I love this place! Been twice now and the drinks are great, food is exciting, and service is lovely.
Horrible food, works not go back. Rolls seem like they were pre-made. Worst sushi I’ve ever had.
Great experience! Dolly was great!
We had an allergy at table and your staff handled it great.
Very special dishes, though you have to pay for them. The noise level was a bit club-like, which would normally be a fine vibe if we didn't take our grandparents there. Great spot for a delicious date.
Servers were very attentive and it was a nice dinner! They were a bit quick to get us out and get our food out but I enjoyed it—not so much my friend but I didn’t mind! It was very yummy. The roll with the steak on it was absolutely amazing.
The service was amazing and the food was great!
Wonderful fusion of Japanese and Peruvian. Great Peruvian ceviche, interesting maki rolls. Service was a bit slow but very friendly and helpful with new items (to us) on the menu.
I was really excited to go after reading the reviews, this is my favorite type of food but was disappointed. Didn’t think it was anything special.
The service was great and we were seated right away. The food was mostly fine, though one of my friends did not eat his ceviche because it was too sour and he actually found a hair in it. The rest of our party's food was fine, but pretty small portions for the price. We went for brunch and they did not have drink specials, so we did pay full price (about $8 for a beer). Overall I'd say it was fine, but don't think I'd make the trip back out to Georgetown for it.
We had the best time at Susheria! The food was delicious and it provided a fun upbeat environment! Highly recommend!
Beautiful restaurant, server was excellent and accommodating to our needs and food was dynamite. Definitely recommend and will be returning!
Yum! Just Yum!!!
Susheria was a delicious restaurant with excellent service. We enjoyed our experience, and were honored with a birthday surprise! Definitely recommend the Bonzai maki, it was very special.
The food and ambiance are terrific, but I was disappointed in the service. After we had our food, we were forgotten until we flagged down a waitress for coffee and then had to flag her down again for the check.
We came for an early dinner, so it was very quiet at first, but got more busy through the dinner.
The service was excellent! The music was also good, and gave a bar ambiance...
The food was delicious and full of spices.
Although it’s a bit expensive the overall experience was worth it!
Nice place with great ambiance. Great combination of Asian and Peruvian food. The sushi was fresh. A great place to have dinner before going to the movies next door. I especially liked the Peruvian shredded chicken dish. Nice flavor. The hostess and server were both friendly and customer focused.
