Excellent in every way. One of the best meals I've had out in a very long time!
This place is so amazing and the staff was happy to accommodate a special birthday request!
We went to Suraya this weekend. FANTASTIC. Entire evening was great . From outdoor bar scene through dinner. Exotic, Delicious and special. LOVED IT
Amazing food and beverages.
Kanafeh dessert was an incredible ending to a wonderful dinner.
Beautiful reataurant - incredible ambiance!!!!!!!!
Amazing food, awesome atmosphere. What more could you ask for!
One of my new favorites within the new Philly food and nightlife renaissance. The dining room and bar are sophisticated but casual. The new courtyard in the rear feels very much like Santa Monica. We ate at the chef’s table, and we enjoyed the workings of this clean, organized and creative kitchen. Awesome!
WOW... what can I say. Everything was fantastic. Humus and braised lamb and chicken were our favorites but everything was great!
Portion sizes on entree a joke. Food quality excellent r
Everything was delicious as always!
Lovely place, can’t believe you are on Frankford ave in the city!
Excellent! Very professional!
This was a wonderful experience and was suggested by my daughter, who lives in Port Richmond. The young staff was well trained, polite and friendly; the food was excellent and the ambience quite nice. Highly recommend!!
Amazing date night in the beautiful outdoor garden. Feels like we were in another country. Food and service were excellent. Highly recommend!
Delicious food with many offerings. Helpful informative service. Wine was pricey. Surprised by bottle prices. Lovely atmosphere. 1 complaint: can read menu without alternative light source.
Delicious food, very cool decor, hip spot. Only complaint is that the wine list is a bit too pricey
Great restaurant!! The food was amazing and the staff was friendly! Will be returning soon..
Great food in a really nice setting; a bit pricey, especially the glasses of wine.
Service is top-notch and the food and drinks did not disappoint. The flavors of both were deliberate and plentiful. GO!
Fun place for brunch, food was very good, service was not rushed despite the crowds. Went during Saturday lunch, but had a brunch menu, would like to have had more choices similar to the dinner menu. The baba ganoushe was the best I've had, falafel while really good, felt was slightly overdone. A recommended pastry, by a local newspaper reviewer I found to be dry and tasteless. I definitely want to come back at dinner.
Neighborhood is cool/funky and in transition.
Phenomenal management and service.
Suraya lives up to the "Best of" hype! Must try the raw ground lamb mezze!
We were a large group. Out waiter was polite and efficient. The food, particularly the appetizers, was really quite good. As Lebanese food the classic dishes like kofta and gibbeh naya were good but, as one of us put it, who is 17, and Lebanaese, oddly wet. Some things seemed like they weren’t cooked on a hot enough fire. Or something. Great service but at the end a colossal slow down in terms of dessert delivery. No acknowledgement of that. I’d go back for another try. Really good but maybe an off night. Was expecting Zahav-level good...not there, at least the night we went. Service needs a bit of getting the kinks out. Wish them well overall! A welcome addition.
Great appetizers and amazing bread, though quite pricey given the size of the portions. Main courses did not woo, but apps were excellent.
Really interesting and delicious food in a beautiful setting. Outstanding service. A memorable experience. I can’t wait to go back!
Service was absolutely outstanding! Food was just as great. Will be heading back soon.
Inventive food not found elsewhere. Outstanding pita. But so noisy on a Thursday evening that hearing our friends across our round table was difficult. Service uneven. We waited too long for our single dessert although the check was already on the table. Our waitress recommended Tuesday evenings for a calmer atmosphere.
Absolutely awesome dining experience from start to finish! Wait staff was extremely attentive and knowledgeable in helping us decipher the menu and decide what to order. Highly recommend the Baba Ganoush and the Abu Sayf (grilled Halibut)! Atmosphere is amazing!
Beautiful interiors. Good service. Overall very good food with a few 'misses'. The pita, although plentiful, was dry. The baba ganoush was very good and the addition of the pomegranate seeds was both a lovely aesthetic and a tasty flourish. The makanek were wonderfully flavourful and infused with lemon. The Karus Baladi while tender was not particularly flavourful but the turmeric rice was fantastic. The wine list was well edited and very good. The dessert was a bit confused too many ingredients that did not necessarily hang together - grilled banana ice cream, tahina infused chantilly (yum), candied beets... A little bit too loud but not unbearable. The restaurant appeared to be well run, organised and was overall a lovely and beautiful environment. A rare find in Philadelphia.
Excellent meal! Amazing ambiance and the outdoor back patio oasis is unreal. I felt like I was transported to a tropical resort. Other than the el going by every so often, you would never know you were in Philadelphia!
Birthday for a really good friend
First and last time here. Service was awkward. In the reservation, we asked for a table away from the kitchen and were seated right next to it for my friends birthday. When I noticed 2 other 2tops with fresh menus not next to the kitchen, I asked for another table. Right before ordering drinks, we were moved. (One of two good parts of the whole night) Chicken livers and halibut were WAY over cooked. Livers were mealy. Portions were super small. We had to keep asking for water. Multiple times while we had a fork to mouth our server asked if we were done with that dish. It became tragically comical by the end. At one point I pulled the last bite off of a plate and before I could grab pita to mop the plate, the dish and bread basket were taken away. So weird! There was a large time gap between courses so it’s not like fresh food was waiting. Wines by the glass were good but the price gap between a bottle and glasses made the bottle of similar quality wine cost prohibitive. Dessert was the only saving grace. We had the cheese dessert and it was killer. 3 small plates, 2 entrees, 4 glasses of wine and one dessert cane out to $160 before tip. It is a beautiful space but not worth the frustration of interacting with the waitstaff and the food is definitely not special.
Had popped in a few times for coffee and cake so was looking forward to trying out for dinner. Was not disappointed!
Ordered 3 meze dishes between two of us, one main and dessert and we were both stuffed! Everything was flavourful and delicious - The Fatteh and Djej Meshwi were particularly tasty and the Peaches and Ashta for dessert rounded off the meal perfectly. Ambience is amazing and the serving staff were knowledgeable and attentive. The one thing is it's a bit pricy so won't be going every week but it is well worth it!
It was the best middle eastern food we've had since we were in Israel three years ago, and our server was outstanding. But calling the noise level energetic is way too generous. My husband and I were there on a Sunday night, and we could only hear one another talk if we shouted. Unless we can sit outside (it was raining on Sunday) or find a day and time when the noise level is likely to be reasonable, we will not return, despite the excellent food.
Suraya is outstanding on all levels. We eat there regularly and it hits high marks on food and service every time. Best restaurant in Philadelphia! (Thank you Chef Chad!)
Excellent food, worth the price!
Suraya has such an amazing ambiance, The inside is beautiful and authentic, the patio outside in the back transports you out of Fishtown for the evening, and the food is genuine and wonderful. I had such a wonderful first experience at dinner. The mixed drinks are pretty expensive, but they are very good. Unlike the drinks I think the food was well priced for the portions we received. The wait staff were knowledgeable about the menu and gave great advice. If you are waiting for a table, there are definitely some nice areas in the restaurant to wait in, or if you just grabbing a drink I think you will find it would be energetic but comfortable, especially on a nice summer night.
If you are looking for a Mediterranean dining experience in Philadelphia this is the place to go to. Suraya far exceeds any other restaurant offering Mediterranean cuisine. The menu options are creative and diverse. The pita is excellent! The menu offers many options for sharing that will satisfy various tastes. The ambiance is on point and the outdoor bar area is charming, especially if you are looking for a insta worthy photo. The staff is pleasant and attentive. Ryan, the manager will do his best to see that you have positive dining experience.
It was a little disappointing for all of the hype. The host forgot we were there (despite having reservations), the place was so loud we couldn't hear our waitress 80% of the time, it was crowded and everyone was packed in like sardines, it was freezing cold where we were sitting, they never asked to refill our empty drinks, and the appetizers were mediocre at best. The entrees were delicious, but they filled us up on extra appetizers to make up for their mistakes (on the house) but then forgot to take them off the bill and we had to get a manager to fix that as well (when by that time we both just wanted to get out of there). It just wasn't a very fun experience overall.
Exceptional all around. The food was interesting and delicious, our server wa wonderful, and the space itself it gorgeous.
