Everything was great, but the bathrooms were lacking in comparison to the restaurant ambiance. Dirty and old design.
Food was not good, we let the staff know ahead of time through open table that we were celebrating a birthday and no one recognized it.
Fun, lively atmosphere with good food and drinks at reasonable prices. Staff was professional and personable.
We loved the restaurant ! Definitely will returned.
Loved the decor! Cocktails were great. Staff was friendly to us. Food was amazing. I had the ahi tuna dish. Perfect portion. Hope to come again someday.
Drinking glasses were dirty, even asked for a replacement and it was dirty too. The outside dining area was not up to par.
Had to wait over an hour even though I had a reservation.
We have been to all of the Vanderpump restaurants. This is by far the bottom of the barrel of many LA restaurants we have been to. We went for Sunday brunch and had the most lackluster fritatas and French toast. Tasteless, seasonless, thin eggs thrown on a plate with a handful of arugula. My daughters fritata was served with mushrooms when she asked to have them omitted. French toast..No trace of quality brioche in this French Toast. Ehh... Had better at Denny's. We ordered coffee with cream, and had to ask for cream a second time, after the coffee sat on our table getting cold waiting for the blue haired server to come back. She finally came back and the cream was curdled. The white decor is dirty and actually safety pinned together EVERYWHERE. Visable safety pins by the hundreds holding old, dirty white fabric together. Plastic visquene and hoses showing in the corners of the ceiling of the garden area... The white chair covers we sat on were dirty.. This restaurant is in need of some serious care. Very surprised about the lack of care of what this looks like to a customer and very janky decorating skill. You can take pretty fabric and lighting to make a very clean, contemporary setting.. But not when you use masking tape and pins to hold it together. Even the the floral step and repeat backdrop out front, used for photo ops for customers, has wood, faded, water damaged letters hanging on by their lives, and plastic flowers on their last faded, breath need to be replaced. Very, very disappointed all the way around.
I was surprised to see how dirty the restaurant was. The plates are old and chipped and have black spotting along the edges. The seat coveres were covered in dirt. The staff was very awkward. The decor was ok but it was all random stuff. I had a good time and all but I’m not sure what all the hype is about. Our experience was during Sunday brunch. We are going to try dinner soon hoping for a better experience.
The draw to this location is the TV show, if you are a fan. Overall server was slow but food came out fast and was good. Some of the the silverware was dirty, glass and mimosa pitcher craked/broken chairs had stains on them. For $18 for a 2 egg breakfast price was high but the French toast was great and so was the avocado toast (we added a egg). I expect more and if I was ever in the area again I probably wouldn't come back. Manager was friendly and when you just opening and have a line out the door it's nice that he was so personable and attentive.
Loved it so much! Every part!
We flew in from Pennsylvania for a Valentine's weekend getaway. My wife and I enjoy the Vanderpump show so it was a must. It did not disappoint. We had the pleasure of meeting Guillermo one of the owner/partners as well as a couple cast members (Max, Billy) who were all very pleasant and open to the typical "can we have a picture?". The food was fantastic and prepared and presented perfectly. There was a live DJ in the bar area. I would definitely recommend anyone who visits the West Hollywood/Beverly hills area to try it. Exceeded our expectations by far. Shout out to all the people responsible for this establishment's atmosphere and presentation. Fantastic!
Sur is a beautiful restaurant. We learned about Sur from the show Vanderpump Rules. We were excited to visit Sur to see what it was like in person and experience the restaurant as a customer. While being there, we saw the show being televised on the tv screen over the main bar and the DJ made shoutouts that members of the cast might show up. This is totally a personal opinion but we felt that it was ‘chessey’. Like we were at more of a tourist attraction then a real restaurant. Others may like that hype but my fiancé and I felt like it wasn’t that special. Otherwise, you will see from the rest of my review that we thought the restaurant was extremely nice. And overall, Sur Restaurant is obviously doing very well regarless of my opinion regarding the touristy type of feel once there.
Great vibe, super busy and loud, but the different rooms help break up the noise from the bar. The food was amazing!!! We got the goat cheese balls (YUMMY!!) the beets salad and we added shrimp (salad was awesome but I think next time I’ll get chic instead of shrimp), butternut squash soup (had a nice pop of spice), and lobster ravioli (so much lobster meat!!). Our waiter was Max and he was so friendly and nice, made good suggestions and was super attentive! However all the drinks I ordered (3 different ones) all tasted watered down!! Which is totally disappointing bc the bravo show makes it seem like this is going to be the best cocktails, but I wouldn’t waste the money on them! Just order wine or beer!!
We made the reservations for anniversary and traveled from Sparks Nevada specifically to have dinner at SUR. We brought our 6 month old daughter and the staff was gracious and accommodating. The service was top notch and the food amazing. I would recommend anyone traveling to Hollywood to make it a point to have dinner there. Couldn’t be more pleased.
Brunch was not great. Salad was undressed. Appetizer was very small. Frittata had little flavor. Dress the salad. Add some seasoning to frittata and add a goat cheese ball to the app even if you charge a dollar more and the entire meal would have had more worth. Service was prompt and attentive. A few cast members were present and we got a picture with Peter so it drove up our experience. Without the picture the entire meal would have felt like a scam.
Loved it, amazing experience! Perfect during day time for brunch
Waitstaff should act like you matter, a smile or cheerful attitude goes a long way.
Big fans of Lisa and Ken Vanderpump and came to see all of their places. We saw her partner with the hat and PETER was there! He is even more attractive in person. Now about the restaurant it looks better on tv. There were these midget tables and chairs when u walk in. The decor was not as nice but that’s ok because the rack of lamb in red wine rosemary, and snap peas(perfectly cooked with a nice crunch) and roasted potatoes was deeeeeelicious. Well done! I think we saw Lisa’s son. He looks so much healthier and knowledgeable then when he started on the show. Great time overall. We ❤️ how we got to see a place with so many wonderful life moments with her coaching and nurturing the young wild ones.
Great meal ! Great vibe! Our waiter Max did a great job and kept things moving but let us relax also!! We will be back at FaV for us when in WEHO. love the lobster and shrimp ravioli! The chicken dumplings and Goat cheese balls was a great starter!!
Awesome service and staff was so nice! Food was good and drinks were delicious
We were on vacation from New Jersey. My wife was excited to go here. We were not disappointed. My son and I had the Ribeye. It was a tad fatty.. but very flavorful. My wife had the skirt steak and it was great. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. I only had one complaint .. and it’s not the restaurant.. but the valet parking was horrible. We pulled up to the restaurant and it was clear we were getting out to go to the restaurant and the valet attendant asked what are we here for? I said SUR and his response was.. uhm.. ok.
If you have a 7:00 PM reservation, they bring everything as fast as possible to turn the table for the next group. We were a party of two. They took us to the worst possible table right next to the back door. We objected and they placed us at a reasonable table. Many restaurants do the same thing hoping that they can get those lousy locations foisted on someone. With two drinks each with a 20% tip, our bill was $200.00. Not cheap but not unreasonable. Food was very good. Very friendly staff. We just didn’t like feeling rushed out. That was our main objection. Better to make a later reservation.
Food and service was great, my only complaint would be we didn’t have any privacy at all. Our table for 2, was sat directly next to another table of 2 (the tables were basically touching) when there were several other tables open they could’ve been sat at.
Terrible service. Got there at 9:30 PM for a reservation. Didn’t get a table until 10:10. Server lost our order and we didn’t get out of there until 12:30 AM. We ordered two 4 course meals and some wine. Shouldn’t have been that hard to complete a decent service but oh well. Food was absolutely delicious. Just wish service was better.
They took FOREVER with the food
Had to hunt down servers ALL night. 9pm reservation, waived down server AGAIN at 11:34pm to ask, "where is our dinner? He didn't even know that we're not served yet!! Server, Diane told us when she clocked in she knew they should have never opened at all that night. Really?
This was a Birthday & Valentines day celebration, friends were from LA & out of town and wanted to go to SUR (Vanderpump hype) what an embarrassing disappointment. We tried to make the best out of it, we were so hungry. They brought us cake we sang HBD we had too much to drink on empty stomachs, missed our ride to next destination so danced in the bar area hoping to salvage some fun... finally had to leave the vile atmosphere and excuses for the night and manager leaving so we couldn't even talk to him about the terrible experience.
Seems like this place has gone so far down hill (missing, not out... missing light bulbs in bathroom!!!) it's time to PUMP some life & attention back into this Vander-Dump. Or simply time to close. Sorry, but really disappointed. Then got hit with a $250. Bar bill. If there ever was a time to comp a check...
We reserved our table for Valentine’s Day. It was $85 a person and we had 4 people. We had reservations at 8:15 and were seated around 8:30. Once sat, our server came over and told us that their computer system was down, which was not a problem. What she didn’t tell us was that how long we were going to have to wait to get our 4-course dinner. Our server took the girls drink orders but ignored the guys drink orders so they didn’t even end up getting one. We got our soup within 10 mins after ordering but waited about 40 mins to get our 2nd course- the salads and they got one of the orders wrong... and then continued waiting for another 30 mins to get our entree. Our server had only checked on our table once... asking how the soup was. She saw that we didn’t get our entrees after an hour of sitting there and said nothing. We were pretty disappointed by this point. Once we got our entrees all of us were pretty over the experience already and had asked for the check, it was written on the back of a paper menu and our server had added 20% gratuity on top... we were pretty mad at this point. In CA you aren’t supposed to add gratuity unless it’s a party of 6 or more. We asked about it and the server sent the manager over, and the manager said it was written on the menu (which was a lie). The manager apologized and took it off, and comped a red bull and 1 drink. The computer finally worked again, so we had our original checks printed out— on the bottom of the receipt they had put what the gratuity would be for 20%, 22% and 25%. The funny part is.. that the 20% gratuity was significantly less than what the paper receipt has said... which meant the server changed the tip. Shady! Anyways our experience was awful, we will probably not go back.
Horrible service took 2 and a half hours to through the whole meal. Each course took way too much time to come out and the waitress barely came by to check on us. I finally had to ask for our desserts to go since we had been there for so long. It felt like we were trapped there by their slow service. Also I even had to get up and order drinks at the bar myself because the waitress was so slow in checking on us. Then she just put the gratuity included on the bill with only a party of 2! Worst valentines ever! Not going back and so disappointed!
Love this place!! Dinner was incredibly delicious😍
We have been to Sur before and have had great dining experiences, I decided to surprise my wife and book a Valentines night dinner at Sur. I was never told that it would be a limited menu or the price for a limited menu. We showed up and were dumped menus in front of us and still not told the the price. My wife got a chicken dish and I got a rack of lamb ( 4 near meatless prawns). We had to hunt our server down to order a second cocktail. After our main course we waited 40 minutes for our dessert, we had to flag a server down and ask for the dessert. We
Waiter 20 more minutes for the check. Overall the food and service did not meet previous standards and we paid 2x what we normally have paid at Sur. I did mention to management my concerns and was dismissed with a “ I have been in the restaurant business for over 20 years”. FYI I’ve eaten in restaurants for over 40 years sir from Sur. The overall dinner took experience took over 2 and a half hours, it put a damper on the evening.
We love Lisa Vanderpump and we were SO pumped to be at her restaurant for V-day dinner, but sadly, that didn’t last for long. While the waitress was extremely friendly, we barely ever saw her. She never asked if we wanted to order drinks (which we would have), and never asked how our food was (mine was barely lukewarm). My husband liked his salmon, which was hot, and although I did like my pasta, it was hard to enjoy at that temperature. There was a blonde waitress floating around who smiled at us, not registering that we had no drinks on our table and a drink menu as large as could be on the table. She could’ve helped the waitress, but instead just stood there, choosing not to. She just smiled at us, and I got so mad I said, “we don’t need this menu anymore since our meal is almost done and no one asked us if we’d like to order anything”. She just smiled and took the menu away. Gee, thanks! Anyway, we loved the cobbler dessert and how the restaurant looked. Our waitress apologized for her lack of attention and comped us one espresso which we appreciated. I barely ever write reviews and this is painful for me because of our love of Vanderpump!
We arrived at 5:30 for dinner. The service started off well but we waited over 1/2 hour between appetizers & dinner. We had to ask the manager for second round of cocktails & a bottle of champagne as our wait staff never returned. The bathroom at this restaurant is horrendous. It was filthy & when I exited the back door of the restaurant was open to the alley which was also dirty. The food was average.
Waitress and staff were so nice. Had a great time. Food very good!!
I loveeeeeeee weho! I will most def Be BAck! Sur and all of Lisa’s restaurants have all been amazing! I’m a die hard vpr fan and this fulfilled all my dreams! Lol. A+
I was really excited to try Sur so it was probably easy to disappoint me, but it did. A grumpy busboy asked if we wanted tap water and we did not, but we didn't realize he was responsible for all water so we didn't get sparkling until much later. He served us cold bread and rock-hard packets of butter as we waited for our server, who I don't think ever formally arrived. A very kind manager took care of our table, but there were still issues with a poorly mixed cocktail and over-cooked crab cakes and calamari. The ambiance is amazing (except for the bathrooms) and the entrees were actually very good. I just think if you have a great concept, great location, and a solid menu with tons of publicity, why not go all the way and deliver a great experience? There are so many incredible restaurants in LA and this really could be one of them, but it honestly wasn't the night we were there. Since I only drive in to Hollywood for special occasions I probably won't make it back, but I'm glad I tried it.
Great experience! I am glad I selected SUR for my Birthday Celebration!
REALLY enjoyed SUR. Fantastic food, quick service, great drinks. Highly recommend
Beautiful as always. The food is always consistently good. The people who work there are great.
Great food! The lamb was so flavorful. Great cocktails as well. I went for Tequila Tuesdays hosted by Tom Sandoval. Yes the cast of Vanderpump Rules actually work there. :)
