Supper Southern Morsels
Need some work on the seasoning. Dishes were either too salty, like the chicken skins and green beans, or no flavor, like the meatloaf, mashed potatoes
Very enjoyable. Asked us our seat preference(booth). Wine was nice and service was very pleasant. Nice touch with the tappas portions
The ambiance is amazing!! The server was asked to bring salt & pepper multiple times....10 mins later no salt and pepper. We got there and was seated within 4 mins. Ordered food at 7:10, didn't receive it until almost 8:20. Probably won't be returning
It was a slow Friday night when we went, but the food was good and drinks were strong.
First time eating here and I will tell you, it won't be the last! Great food, great location. The staff is second to none!
Ate rooftop. Excellent food, service, drinks. Great seeing for a nice evening meal. Highly recommend. Will be back to try other menu selections!
Our experience was less than pleasing. Our waitress was very cold and gave poor service. We thought the behavior was odd until we received our check where gratuity was included for parties of six or more which was fine but it was then very clear why she didn’t try at all the make the experience pleasant. Not once did she ask if we needed anything or how the food was.
All six of us agreed the food wasn’t bad, but lacked general flavor and seasoning. I don’t typically take issue with the cost of something if the quality of the food is good. This was not the case. We all ordered several small plates. The “closed on Sunday” chicken sliders and crab dip were the two shining dishes, however all of us that received fries as our side for our sliders were thoroughly disappointed in that the fries were raw inside. We were served completely uncooked potato. I’m not sure how you serve tasty cooked chicken on a slider with raw fries. The fries weren’t the only potato of the night that didn’t meet our expectations. Another member of the group ordered a side of mashed potatoes. Mind you the cost was $5 and the portion was small, but again we do not have a problem with cost as long as the food is good. The potatoes lacked all seasoning. They claimed to be garlic mashed potatoes but they were so bland and inedible we had to doctor them ourselves to enjoy the taste. The potential for the fried green tomatoes caprese salad was great. As a general rule green tomatoes lack a lot of taste but I expected some flavor in the batter they were fried in and there was none. I’m not sure how anyone who works there isn’t aware that all the food lacks general seasoning. I’m all for reduced sodium, but if you aren’t cooking with salt there are other ways to season food that can give the food real taste. I would not consider anything “southern” about the food as you know people from the south can season. No saltines available for raw oysters even though they were listed on the menu.
Yes I would definitely recommend Supper to a friend. In fact, I met a friend and his wife there for dinner, welcoming them to town after recently moving from Texas. They loved Supper and plan to return. The rooftop dining is always special.
Nicely decorated. Outdoor area with music some evenings. Food was okay, nothing outstanding about it.
To sum it up - Food was great, service was terrible (kitchen and drinks). Not fully the server’s fault. For my group of four the challenges started from the beginning. We waited about 5-7 minutes to be greeted at the table. Then once the order was placed drinks were terribly delayed. The challenges continued- our food came out separately and very delayed - two meals were ordered at the same time and one was deliver 15+ minutes before the other entree- the issue was know as the kitchen automatically brought something to hold the table over until the rest of the food arrived.
The server stated that the service issues, for her and the kitchen, were due to a call-out but there were too many issues for it to be due to one person not being there.
Ambiance is fantastic so if you have 3 hours available for dinner and don’t mind waiting- a long time- then the food and view are nice. If you have a life at all, you might want to pass on Supper.
The service was horrible, the food was mediocre and the drinks were poor. The overall experience was very negative
I went to Supper for my birthday and I had an awesome time. Our server was great & our food was even better ❤️
The service was great. The food was trash. The presentation was unacceptable. The only reason why I didn’t complain was because I didn’t want my waitress to have to deal with it, getting the manager, etc. It’s unfortunately the food isn’t great. I’ll return, however, just for drinks.
Chill experience very good. Date went well.
Definitely awesome I’ll definitely be coming back everything and everyone where awesome
They told us they werent serving food even though we had a reservation. No one greeted us we had to search for someone.
We have eaten here many times, always pleased. Our 4th entrée came out after we waited and then finished our dinners. When it came out it was not good and we left. Staff was apologetic and comped that entrée and a round of drinks. We will return and hopefully the kitchen will have a better night.
Pasta was watery, but skillet mac n cheese was yummy... Our main waitress was either new or unorganised. It seemed the other waitress was more in tune with giving us refills. Came there for my daughters birthday dinner. Was excited to check it out, but was let down.
The service was terrible. Drinks took way too long food came out in wrong order and wrong all together. Asked 5x different servers for our bill. Contemplating walking out. There was a rat running around the tables.
The food was OK. I don’t think a lack luster dinner is worth the 22/plate price tag.
Went here for a wedding rehearsal dinner and was impressed with the service, atmosphere & rooftop bar. I decided to return today to show my visiting mother that Norfolk has great restaurants & staff. Lies. The server was dry, inattentive & her attitude was less than subpar, who brings out lemon wedges for my water in a napkin & place it on the table vice in a small bowl or ramekin? To add insult to injury, my mom and I ordered the fried chicken & wanted to switch our 2 sides. We were told we would be charged $2 per each side we changed, not that I didn't have the cointage, but that policy is ridiculous, Logan's & Texas Roadhouse would never. We decided to keep the mashed potatoes & green beans & when the food came out, the chicken was fried extra hard, it was extra greasy, the mashed potatoes were lukewarm with cold white looking gravy that was disgusting. The green beans were unseasoned & the corn bread sample had this nasty looking butter type substance mixed with seemed to be mixed with particles of greens or spinach...yuk (inedible). I lost my appetite & was overit.mil. I asked for the check but the server informed us some nice patron paid for our meal..because I was raised right & dislike people who don't tip, I still left a tip for a very bad experience. It was a blessing that my meal was paid for & the roof top was cute, however, I will not be returning back. Thank you Supper Southern Morsels for my mother's first experience at what I was told was a fine dining to be an southern unpleasant one. (I did not proof read).
Everything was great!
Truly enjoyed it! Thinking of scheduling an after work happy hour event there soon.
I have had friends who had dinner there and they had good reviews. It was for my best friends birthday a surprise. Our waitress had some personal issues going on which kept her from giving us good service. Someone else ended up coming to serve us at the end. We waited for About 35-40 mins before we got the two drinks we ordered. It was about 1.5 hours before we got our food. My boyfriend’s slider was completely pink on the inside. It was a horrible experience and I am almost for certain I will not return
Service was not as expected however the manager was very quick to resolve any issues. Will definitely go back.
Second visit, this time to the upstairs deck, ambience was great however
the two frozen specials for the night Were not ready … The waiter explained it wasn’t prepared in advance enough.
Having had the food before and it was excellent I was disappointed in this nights selections. It was not crowded but our waiter was pushing us to Order more quickly than we were ready and it was a long wait in between plates, considering the sparsity of the crowd
I will try it one more time and hope that my experience will be more like the first than the second
This place was great 2 years ago. Now small portions, overpriced, insulting complimentary small piece of cornbread for 4 people to share, more insulting charge of $3 for 1 more SMALL slice of cornbread. A $2 upcharge to substitute mashed potatoes for the assigned 1/2 cup of rice that comes with the salmon. I could go on and on about how this place has changed. My group of 8 will not be coming back.
I was expecting a true Southern experience. We went there to get Shrimp & Grits. It was awful. Nothing
like I expected . We went on July 4th and it was empty. We should have excellent service. It was so so at best. They have a lovely roof top. Its disappointing that I don't think I will be going back any time soon.
Met the cook Ms. Pam she is there from my understanding on Sundays for brunch it was good with southern taste everything. Was fresh just perfect.
Food was very good. Service was below average. Would recommend overall.
Cool place, great roof deck. Food was ok. Will go back for drinks on the roof, but will grab dinner elsewhere.
Dinner with family tapas style food was spectacular would definitely return
The food was very tasty. The selections were different The portion of asparagus was extremely skimpy for the cost. The best of all the things served at our table was the hushpuppies with crab. That was a surprise taste and I will prepare those at my house as knockoff recipe. The least flavorful (perhaps because I don't cook with salt) the batter on the fried chicken. The beverages were flavorful especially the lemonade. The cornbread served before the meal arrived was room temperature (the butter did not melt). Overall, I would return again and try some of the other entrees available.
Although we had a reservation, the restaurant had a book signing going on and our only options were to sit outside in the humidity and heat or in the middle of the book signing party. This led to slow serviceAnd them not having enough food prepped to fulfill orders in a timely fashion, two people got served 20 to 25 minutes prior to the third person being served. The manager was very nice and did address the issues, so I would be willing to give it another shot.
Great service and experience.
Had a good time, with very special friends. Great food and good service and the ambience with amazing. Our server was Savoy, the entertainment was Above and Beyond! Beautiful old school jams
The food didnt taste as good as the first time I went there.
This was our first visit to Supper and it was for an early Mother’s Day celebration. Original table was in the main dining area next to a large group - the noise level was a bit extreme. We asked to be moved somewhere quieter and were immediately accommodated. The food was outstanding! The drinks were outstanding! The service was outstanding! We WILL be back!
Great place for small plates to share. The raw oysters are awesome too!
Easter brunch. Service was fairly horrible (never got orange juice, waited a very long time for the check and then for the waiter to run our card). Food was good but they apparently ran out of things (like coleslaw for the pulled pork sandwich) and just served it anyway without asking, without substitution/compensation.
