We had a marvelous meal at Superior Motors last Saturday evening. My husband enjoyed the trout. My pork dish I had was exceptional, full of delicious tastes and interesting textures. Dessert, the "pound cake," was like nothing I had ever had before, and I would return just to have it again because of the surprising tastes involved and, again, the multiple textures. I capped the meal with a lovely lemon tea. The service was on target, and perhaps my favorite feature of the restaurant is that one can easily hold a conversation there. We've been following Chef Sousa since he had a restaurant in the hotel above the steel building. His food just keeps getting better and better.
Great atmosphere. Attentive staff. Phenomenal food.
Friendly staff, wait staff not invasive, all staff knowledgeable regarding the menu and bar service.
outstanding food & service
Excellent experience, especially the service. Some dishes seem a little bit too complicated and ingredients that are not listed on the menu....fun and delicious, but a sometimes less is more....Ambiance and décor are beautiful and comfortable; restrooms top-notch.
The service sucked
Always a pleasure to come for dinner and a bonus of seeing a great production at Barebones. Food, service and drinks were outstanding and always ready for a return visit. Thank you.
The music was terrific. So was the food.
Delicious food, warm service and excellent music
I’ve been to Superior Motors several times and each visit has been great! This last reservation was different and just okay. I was disappointed that we could not have a pre-dinner cocktail (or a few) at the bar. Apparently SM is now reserving seats for dinner at the bar.......dislike this change. I was really looking forward to my meal of lamb but did not like the preparation of it. It was skimpy for the price.....only two small medallions of lamb and two ground patties. It really didn’t have much lamb flavor which I thought was odd. Anyway, I will return and try again as the previous great visits outweighed the not so good.
Service was great but the food and alcohol were severely overpriced for what you got.
We had a lovely meal with friends at Superior Motors. Our server was very helpful when I asked for a change in the dressing for my greens salad. The salad was wonderful, full of textures and flavors. I split the lamb with my husband. He also had the poke which he enjoyed very much. Our friends enjoyed their dinners as well. We will return to the restaurant.
Over priced and portions are very small. Waiters at bar seating don’t pay much attention to you and can be very forgetful. If I would ever go again I would dine at a table.
Poor service.... time between courses took way to long... Food was average at best. Very disappointing.
My first visit has made me hungry for a second. The food and drinks were unique and delicious. To top that - the staff were outstanding and made it a truly memorable evening!
Fabulous food in an interesting venue - the smoke-belching machinery across the street entranced the male members of the party. The food was original and unusually delicious.
The meal was delicious and so were the drinks. The only thing we felt missing was acknowledgement of our anniversary, which we marked in OpenTable and other restaurants have recognized for other celebration and events.
It would be hard to imagine a finer dining experience in Pittsburgh. The food is sublime, the cocktails are creative and delicious, and the service is exemplary. Makes you want to move to Braddock to get the 1/2 off for locals deal!
The food at Superior Motors was absolutely delicious. I would recommend it based on that alone, but the service was also outstanding. If you go, try the gnocchi! On the downside, I was disappointed with how long we had to wait beyond our reservation time to be seated, and part of the restaurant is quite loud, and the drinks are extra-pricey. Overall, the prices can be deceptive because they serve plates, so if you order enough food, the cost can sneak up on you.
Super excited to finally get there. It lived up to the hype. Atmosphere was energetic on a Saturday night. Waitstaff was friendly, knowledgable and efficient. Service was good and timely despite all tables being full. Food was delicious. Portions were the right size. I had heard about portions being "small" for the price. That was not my experience. Quality was directly proportionate to price.
My husband and I were both very impressed by how delicious our meals were. The staff is exceptional - every single person we interacted with was kind and knowledgable about the menu. The atmosphere is beautiful. It was nice to go to a high quality restaurant that wasn't pretentious.
A couple of friends and I visited Superior Motors for the first time on Friday evening. We had high expectations and were not disappointed. We sat at the bar, Missy and Jon were excellent as was the food. The beef tartare was our favorite. Overall an excellent experience.
Excellent as usual !
We had a fabulous meal! Lots of tasty bites and beverages, service was excellent, overall great experience.
Very neat and interesting concept! The ambiance was incredible!
Great experience! Excellent service!
I didn't know what to expect but was delighted and surprised with every dish. Kevin and your staff were AMAZING. I can't wait to go back.
This is a fabulous restaurant (not just a fabulous Pgh restaurant)
Every aspect from start to finish makes for a wonderful evening
Excellent food but a bit loud and expensive.
Wonderful in every way. One of our best dining experiences. Great space, innovative menu, wonderful friendly service, and the food was superb.
Really liked the design and ambiance of the restaurant. The bar area was the type of place we would come back to just to sip drinks and eat appetizers. Our choices of first and second courses were all very tasty and nicely presented. I was disappointed with my lamb entree which was my third course choice. It was very tasty however it only had one little round piece of lamb tenderloin (very tasty) surrounded by lots of vegetables. For $28 I expected more lamb.
Waited 35 minutes after our reservation time for a table. Of the two hours at our table, spent an hour of it waiting... and after all the waiting... the courses arrived with the food warm but not hot!! A shame as the flavors would have been great if delivered to our table promptly.
Had a group reservation this past Sat & didn’t get seated until 40 minutes later! Many people came in after us & seemed mortified to not be promptly seated. Luckily, we did not have time-sensitive after-dinner plans or we would had to have chosen between skipping what came next — or not eating! Upon checking in the host told us it would be quicker for us to place a drink order through him while we waited - but then proceeded to be unavailable. The service was good when we finally did get sat - and the food was decent but by no means mind-blowing. I would go back if I was given a gift card ...otherwise, once was enough.
There just isn't any better culinary experience in Pittsburgh. The food is incredible. Every bite is pure delight. Top that off with amazing (emphasis on amazing) service. I could not even imagine a better experience.
Food was GREAT! Very creative. Our server, though nice was very slow.
My new name for this restaurant is INFERIOR Motors. First, let me say that the food was very good. The low rating is based entirely on our abysmal service. It started out OK with our friendly server, Daniel, explaining the menu. We ordered 3 items from courses 1 and 2, and one from course 3. The first three were all brought at the same time, even though we could really only concentrate on one at a time. We were practically finished with the first course when Daniel came back to see if all was well. At that point we said we'd like a glass of wine. He brought the wine menu back, then didn't come back to take our order for quite some time. Also, my water glass was empty, with no refill in sight. We also had four empty glasses on our table — which was a small two-top to begin with — that weren't removed. We finally got a glass of wine, well into our second course. For our third course, the runner brought the bowl of scallops and broth, and close to slammed it on the table and quickly walked away. I tried to ask for a spoon for my husband (whose spoon had been removed) but she was gone before I could get the words out. We also didn't have side plates for sharing that course. Finally, Daniel came back, bringing a spoon and plates. It was a special occasion dinner, ruined by the poor, poor service. We had heard great things, but great things certainly won't be shared by us. I'm tring to think of a word worse than abysmal ... appalling ... horrible.
Really enjoyed our meal here. Great mix of tastes and flavors. Two comments. 1 - menu could be more descriptive of the food, rather than just list the Ingredients. I am sure this is intentional, but when you have to ask about each dish, it gets annoying. Poor waitress! 2. If you are going to charge for bread, at least give more than 2 small slices in the basket.
Fantastic food and service. Make the trip...it’s worth it.
