Service was slow sitting at the bar. The restaurant was very drafty every time the door opened even though we sat at the end of the bar furthest from the door. And the bartender threw empty bottles enthusiastically into the trash creating unnecessary additional noise.
The Nashville fried cauliflower was tasty, but so oily that I couldn’t eat it. The beet salad with burrata and crabmeat was a very strange mix without anything to pull the odd combination together. The cheeseburger was better, but very messy, with wet slaw. The bun was soggy. The fires, while extra crispy as ordered, were mushy on the inside like frozen tater tots I hated as a child.

EXTREMELY knowledgeable bartender (oh how I wish we'd gotten his name!). He's really perfected his craft, and takes so much pride in what he does.

The trout is just superb! The burger as well.

The decor was well designed and the staff friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered the tasting menu which consists of an Amuse bouchée - 3 small bites and 2 large plate and a small dessert. The lite bites are much better than the plates. The truffle spaghetti O’s lite bite was the best of all the plates. The ribeye was well presented but very, very fatty without much red meat. The sauce which smothered the ribeye was too rich for such a fatty meat so I give it a bust.

Everything was solid. Our server was great, cocktails were prepared properly, and the atmosphere was nice. We did the tasting menu with the wine pairing. The food was good but my expectations were high and not quite met. A few of the single bite dishes I felt were a little disappointing. And one of the wine pairings a little off too. The mains were very tasty and solidly portioned. We definitely did not leave hungry :) In a city with so many great restaurants I would still recommend to someone based on what they are looking for but not cracking the upper echelon I was hoping for from this dinner experience.

My husband and I chose this restaurant for an anniversary dinner. We were extremely satisfied with the wonderful chef's tasting menu. Every dish was absolutely delicious! My absolute favorite was the spaghettios. When the waitress said, "Your next dish will be spaghettios, my favorite." I thought, really? Then, when I took my first bite, it was pure heaven. I was delightfully surprised.

The service and atmosphere certainly contribute to the pleasure of this little gem of a restaurant. I highly recommend!

Perfect for a late-evening meal that was satisfying but not heavy. I'm still SO not a fan of the name (CHANGE it--you can do better! Ox was a great name) but the food is both innovative and delicious and our waiter was particularly knowledgable and charming. Highlights: salmon crudo, the tongue "sushi" (not the name on the menu but if you ask for that they'll know what you mean). Not a bad dish. Liked that we could reserve the high-top table in the bar area.

We have been to Superbite three times now and it has never disappointed. There are many great restaurants in Portland with excellent food and creative recipes, and Superbite is one of them, but what sets it apart for us is that the staff is so positive, attentive and warm. The experience is very welcoming. If the food were not top notch, though, we would not be repeat customers. It has been excellent each time.
It is a great restaurant for sharing together. The mix of small bites, medium plates and larger platters is conducive to making a tasting meal of your own.
The room is vibrant and festive, but not crazy loud. Not a place for a quiet, candle-lit romantic dinner, but for an engaging, warm, fun and romantic one? Yes.

We visit Portland a few times a year for fun and food. This was our favorite restaurant on our most recent trip. The selection was unique with tremendous results. We ordered the tasting menu, providing a great variety of the chef's culinary skills.

We had a terrific meal with a lot of vibrant flavors and textures. Although there is a multiple course prix fixe option, we selected one mid-sized plate (salmon ceviche), and two entrees (trout and duck fettucine), as well as the lovely chocolate cake for dessert. This was more than enough for the two of us. All impeccably prepared, wonderful juxtapositions of flavors, and prompt and friendly and unaffected servers.

Delightful place near the Pearl District. Great for small plate or large plate menu, awesome cocktails and wonderful food. Staff is very engaging and provide personal attention without "hovering". No rush on dining time or between courses.

Husband and I came from out of state for the Duck game. We were looking for a place walking distance from our hotel and I found this spot and made a reservation a few days prior to arrival. We ordered the tasting menu with the wine pairings and were surprised to learn it was 7 courses with 4 wines for $90/pp. The mushroom/marshmallow was awesome and I wished there was more than one. The cavatelli was great and the quail was a standout for me. All the wines were great and we were definitely not wanting for more food at the end of the night. We thought the value was great and the food refined without being fussy.

Had tasting menu. Don't. Courses came too fast; small bits of exotic stuff leading up to...a slab of meat. A good slab of meat for sure, but a slab of meat. Service was rushed, plates slung down, no wait for questions.

First time back after Gruner closed. This was our best outdoor dining experience we had this summer. Would love to see some classic meat dishes going into fall/winter.
For next summer it would nice to provide cushions on the picnic tables:)
Thanks

the trout was amazing! the sauce alone was a standout. not a mashed potatoes fan but was the perfect buttery consistency and amazing for getting the most sauce on my fork! unfortunately, the scallops we had were kinda salty and not in that "of the sea" salinity way. still, service was great and our waiter was super chill.

There were 4 of us. We agreed to try the prix fixe menu ( it has to be everyone at the table). There were many really interesting courses, plenty of excellent food, and the pacing was perfect. For the price ($45) it was an incredible value too.

While enjoying our food, I commented to my moher that I could not remember having a better meal in Portland, and I stand by it. The happy hour menu is a great deal, but this is a special occasion restaurant for an evening meal.
Outdoor seating was dog friendly!

Went for the tasting menu with some family from out of town. Food was good and somewhat unique (Shitake mushroom on marshmellow?). Portions small, but works for a 7 course tasting for only $45 pp. Would have liked a larger portion of the spagettioes, that was very good. All in all, enjoyed it.

This place was amazing! I was taking my boyfriend out for his birthday and found this place and was able to make a reservation same day. It was a special occasion for us so we decided to go all out and get the Chef's Tasting Menu with the wine pairings. This was a 7 course meal with a few glasses of wine. All of the food was delicious as well as the wine, and the service was also impeccable! They even wiped down our table in between servings. It was more expensive than we usually spend when going out, but everything was amazing and I would definitely recommend!! Definitely was an experience I will not forget.

I had high hopes for this new restaurant. The photos online looked inviting. But, it was a little deceptive that their specialty is "small bites" and yet there were only four on the menu. I envisioned an entire menu made up of inventive little well presented bites, like you would find on a tasting menu. It wasn't. I started with the "marshmallow mushroom" bite. I first asked the server about the sweetness factor of the marshmallow because I wasn't interested in a sweet savory dish. I had no idea how literal to take the name. She assured me that it was a savory dish. Well, one bite in, and I couldn't eat any more. It was sickeningly sweet, like an actual sugary marshmallow. She should have known this. Hint: Have servers taste the food, so they can speak intelligently about it when asked. The rest of the offerings were just plain weird. There was a dungeness crab dish with frozen peas. It wound up being a mash of crab and mayo (was assuming it would be chunks for the price) and there were actually frozen peas all over it. What was I thinking? I should have taken the menu more literally. I expected inventive dishes. These failed badly. They were very nice, and the ambience was nice, but the food was simply terrible.
