Sunnys Chinese is inspired by high energy dining cultures found throughout China tied with the history of the space in Kensington Market - a place you discover with friends. From Shaokao spots in Chengdu and Xi’An to Dai Pai Dongs in Hong Kong, the team looks to regional traditions to create an experience that’s casual and playful.                                                 Food was amazing, the place is pretty hidden but easy to find. Service was great and would definitely Come back again!

                                                The food was beautifully prepared and presented and was absolutely delicious. Had "black pepper lamb, red + green chillies, potato, oyster sauce (Hong Kong)", "mouth watering half chicken, cumin, Sichuan peppercorn, sesame, on charcoal (Sichuan)" and silver needle noodle, black mushroom, scallion, soy sauce (Guangdong). Can't speak for authenticity but this was some of the best tasting Chinese food we have ever eaten. Service was consistently fine. Casual to a fault. We are not strangers to Kensington Av but had difficulty finding the restaurant. If you don't know the area well some of the navigation apps may send you in circles. Sunnys is more-or-less invisible if you have never been there before.

                                                This has definitely been one of the best - if not THE best - meals I’ve had this year. The food came out quickly, and every single dish was excellent. The flavours are very similar to what is found in authentic Chinese dishes, and you can tell how much care went into the ingredients, preparation, cooking, and presentation. Above all else, I received world-class service from the chefs, Luke and Ryan. They went above and beyond in making sure I had a great experience and even sent me some thoughtful samples and gifts! 100% will be back. Love this place. A+ food and A++ service (huge shout-out to Luke and Ryan!)

                                                There are many highly rated reviews on Sunny’s and I am adding another one! The food is fantastic and service is attentive in this little tucked away restaurant. We had the Husband and Wife beef (this is a cold dish but absolutely delicious), Dan Dan noodle, Silver needle noodle, Mustard greens and Orange beef. All were very good. Do not leave Sunny’s without having the black sesame French toast - it’s out of this world! Their drink menu is also impressive with unique tasty concoctions. I highly recommend a trip to Sunny’s it’s amazing.

                                                If you are a beginner to Chinese food, this is for you. If you are experienced and have eaten in many Chinese restaurants of varying styles, you would find this underwhelming. We had a reservation and was seated quickly. I had a good view of the open kitchen. The staff were pleasant and always available. The spoons were chipped (that's their ambience) and served in metal bowls. The food was smaller portions than I expected, especially the scallops ($15), The Ma Po tofu ($23) was made Sczechuan style with the numbing peppercorns so I mostly tasted the chili and not much else. I was excited for the pork belly ($35) but disappointed to see that it was just char siu using pork belly. The pea leaves vegetables were ok ($24) . The orange chicken ($26) was nicely done, not overly breaded which was a positive. The Dan Dan noodles were meh, but be careful, it contains peanuts ($22). The silver noodles ($22) were a big disappointment, soy sauce on rice noodles. For dessert, we ordered the strawberry ice cream ($12) which did not hold up well as it was starting to melt as it came to the table. The ice cream was a good size serving for 2-3 people. The HK French Toast ($15) was the best part of the meal. It was sweet with black sesame. Very nice. Overall, you can get better Chinese food in many parts of the city. The hidden path to the front door gives the restaurant a sense of privacy and exclusiveness. I doubt if I would return for dinner, maybe just for the HK French Toast.
