   Excellent overall experience. Top notch service, and the food was also very good. The rib appetizer was awesome as was the spicy tuna appetizer. The cocktail list has a number of very interesting and creative choices. We tried a few over the course of the evening and were not disappointed. The fried chicken was very good (the collard greens that accompany the chicken were among the best I have ever had). My partner had the pork chop and gave it rave reviews. We were full at that point but tried the apple cobbler. Was very good and very large. So much so that we took most of it home. The only down side is the noise level. It is very very loud in the main part of the restaurant, so much so that the acoustic damping material on the underside of the tables did little to tame the environment. It was not so loud that we could not have a conversation, but if you are looking for a romantic quiet spot, this is not for you. If you are looking for an excellent meal with lots of interesting choices and price points, excellent drinks and service, this is for you. We'll be back.

   We had a delicious birthday lunch today. Our waitress, Jenix, was very sweet and attentive. My daughter has the grilled cheese and tomato soup. I had the fresh catch, grouper, sandwich on a toasted brioche bun which came with a cole slaw and house made chips. My wife has a chopped salad with grilled chicken. All of us absolutely loved our meals. We shared the brussel sprouts which were AMAZING. Thank you!

   An absolute pleasure dinning at this establishment for my son’s 11th birthday. Our waitress was fantastic forgot her name but she had the NY accent, Puerto Rican descent and just gorgeous. She was such a pleasant soul and just catered to our every need. Besides that the food was 10/10 environment was breath taken and it just an overall pleasant night.

   Our server, Bert was great, very friendly, informative and entertaining. We ordered the mussels to start which were plenty but we couldn’t get enough of. Excellent flavor and portion. Second, we ordered the table side Caesar for two and Bert did an excellent job preparing our delicious salad. For our mains, my wife had the black grouper special with crab cake on top and it was phenomenal. I had the wagyu skirt steak and thicker cut truffle fries, which were also excellent and cooked to temp perfectly. The owner Michael stopped by a few times to check on us and was very friendly and attentive. He even sent over a birthday dessert for my recent birthday. They have great weekly specials and will be back soon!!

   We had such a great time. Our first time dining here and we had heard it was wonderful so we had to try it. Loved that Chef Alan came out to greet us and make sure everything was tip top. Food, service and ambience was impeccable. The wague shirt steak was done to perfection. It was medium rare and so tender and tasty. And the expresso martinis were delish as well.

    A Hidden Gem—And Yes, My Husband Was Impressed Let me start with this: my husband is not an easy man to impress when it comes to food. He has the culinary standards of a Michelin inspector. So when he took a bite of his lobster roll and said—unprompted—“this is really good,” I knew we were onto something. Located in East Fort Lauderdale, just far enough from the tourist buzz to feel like a secret worth keeping (but not too secret, please—these folks deserve a full house), Sunness is four months into what I hope becomes a very long run. This is not one of those “still figuring it out” kind of restaurants. They know what they're doing. The food? Genuinely excellent. My husband had the lobster roll and the mussels. I had the braised beef—clearly made by someone who knows their way around comfort food. You know how sometimes you get a server who’s overly scripted or clearly reciting lines? Brandon was the opposite of that. The kind of person who makes you feel like a guest, not a table number. The vibe is polished, the free valet parking a nice touch (especially in this part of town), and they’re planning to open a speakeasy upstairs soon, which means: date nights, girls’ nights, “just-because” nights—covered. Bottom line: If you’re looking for great food, head to Sunness before the rest of Fort Lauderdale catches on.
