Sunday Brunch - Fairmont Hotel Macdonald
Fantastic! Great food selections, fabulous hospitality and tremendously romantic atmosphere.
This was our second time at the Sunday brunch & the quality wasn't the same as the first visit. The cheese didn't seem fresh and the selection was sparse, the ice was completely melted under seafood, the carving station was almost empty and the chicken was cold. The donuts tasted like day old versions. Something seemed off.
The room is beautiful, and the service was excellent. The eggs Benny was cold and although there was an abundance of choices, I’d say the food was just ok. Certainly does not live up to the price point.
As expected at a Fairmont hotel, the food was exceptional and the atmosphere was lovely. The ballroom was very quiet during our 2-hour seating for brunch, maybe half full at the most. I had anticipated brunch to be much busier. The service was nice - attentive without being intrusive. I was surprised that our table was a folding/pop-up table which took to shaking anytime you try to cut through, say, a sausage. The linens were beautiful, so unless you touched the table you'd never know. One of our sons identified the little black ramekins full of creme brulee as being the same sort of ramekins used at Boston Pizza for dipping sauces. Black was an odd choice as most all the service crockery was ivory. The doughnut wall was fanciful, but the concept is no longer new (perhaps they use this at weddings?), and the quality of the pasty on the wall was pretty but not tasty. I felt the price was a little high for brunch. I'd pay it perhaps for a Christmas/Easter/Mother's Day affair with additional food selection but perhaps not for a regular Sunday brunch. Overall it was a fun, once-in-a-while experience.
A must for a special occasion! This is one of the very few fancy restaurant outtings that is kid-friendly! LOTS of delicious options (omelette station, crepe station, charcuterie, kid's food, donut wall etc.) and fresh-squeezed OJ and top-notch coffee. The ballroom is a beautiful location and it's very quiet and serene.
I have been to many brunches at the fairmont hotel macdonald, and generally the experience is very positive. Unfortunately i found the food cold, and stale. The seafood was terrible and resulted in both my son and I to feel unwell the rest of the day. The service and ambiance is always very good, the staff are excellent. My only complaints are with regards to the food freshness and quality on this particular day.
Beautiful atmosphere, lovely and helpful staff. Food was fantastic with many gluten free options. Would highly recommend.
Way over price for what we received. Service was so slow, we asked for water, milk and orange juice to drink, each request we had to wait for a long delivery time. Food choices were marginal, Mimosa drinks were poured without telling us the there was a charge for it. All and all is disappointing and not worth the $65.00/ person plus $5.00/person for mimosa. Will not come back again.

Excellent friendly service, outstanding selection of food !
C’était notre anniversaire et nous avons été reçu avec un mimosa! MerciI
Christmas Day evening buffet. Buffet area poorly lit so could not see the food well. Meat at carving station under seasoned and prime rib very rare. Overheard others make the same comment. Hot entree selections also under seasoned and cold. Soup presented in cast iron tureen that can only get colder with time. Hot entree items were obviously not heated up enough from the kitchen before being brought out on to the floor; those small butane serving platters can only heat up so much. Desserts were placed in entrance hallway where people entered and left, out on their coats and boots etc... not a good place from a hygiene standpoint.I brought up with maître D, and he was very gracious and accommodating as I would expect nothing less from a Fairmont property.
Service very good as was ambiance; it would have been nice to have some louder seasonal music or even a live trio or pianist? It was after all $110 per person.
My analysis. As far as quantity good. Quality and attention to detail lacking. Needed to bring it up with management but didn’t want to come across as The Grinch.

Christmas Day Brunch ah the Fairmont Hotel MacDonald is always magical. Such a special place. The food was amazing. The service is second to none and it was a very special day for our family. Thank you for making four Christmas Day very special!
Expensive! One adult and one 6 year old child came to $175! We didn't eat that much! The breakfast fare and lunch were pretty average ordinary items, some deli cuts, there was a hint of cheese as a few blocks were laid out, and lots of crab legs/mussels/oysters we stayed away from. The value for Xmas brunch is poor, and less choices than in previous years.
The Fairmont Hotel MacDonald is a beautiful historic hotel and we love visiting the hotel whenever we can and since we live just a few minutes away we visit the lounge often. We decided to treat our family to the Christmas Brunch this year and although we enjoyed our time together, the brunch left us a little disappointed. The staff were "o.k" but left us having to go and locate them to ask for more coffee or juice, etc. as our table was not checked often enough especially for 8 guests. The food itself was ok but underwhelming - and the bread choices put out were not what we would hope to find at a five star. They were out of a loaf you could honestly find at Safeway. We have been to the brunch at the Fairmont before and were impressed with the food then but not yesterday. The beef cut was tough as well. There just didn't seem to be enough food out. The dessert table was typical as well. It's just that at 95.00 per person plus tip it could have been better.
food was high quality and service was excellent. The waitress asked if we were celebrating any special occasion and gave my mom a birthday brownie.
Awesome food, Amazing service!
Definitely worth the money
Great place to go to
The atmosphere was great and the selection of food and quality both were excellent. We made a reservation for our anniversary brunch and asked for a window table. When we got there, the attendant greeted us by saying “Happy Anniversary!” which we found it specially nice. He told us that he saved us the best table in the restaurant. When he looked over the far into the restaurant, he noticed something and asked us to wait. When he returned, he said somehow someone gave away our table to other customers. He apologized and took us to a window table that looks onto a parking lot. We were disappointed but only a few minute later the attendant came back and the best window table became available. We were moved there and indeed it was the best liable with a beautiful view with a sunshine coming in from the window and on top all there was a gorgeous Christmas tree just next our table. We really appreciated the attendant went above and beyond to correct the situation and made our dining experience very special.
I enjoyed my brunch. BEWARE- as soon as you sit down you will be offered a mimosa- they are not included in the price of the brunch.
Excellent food at a great location. This was the first time we went to the Sunday brunch and it was so nice. The variety of food was wonderful. There was a good balance between cold and warm items. We all really like the flambé crepes That they make fresh for you
It’s a most enjoyable place to go, never tire of it!
Have a wonderful view sit next to the window, food is excellent will back again
The staff went above and beyond to make my experience memorable. I told them how I had just finished a fitness competition and had been dieting for several months. A few minutes later they came with a brownie served on a plate that had congratulations written on it. It was very special.
My only complaint was that the meat was cold.
Thanks to all the staff for great service, especially Corrina and Yasmine, in celebrating some special occasions.
I’ve been before to Hotel McDonald for brunch and it was amazing but this time was mediocre at best. There was less with not as nice presentation but we were charged more because it was Thanksgiving. Won’t be back. For that money you expect consistency and amazing every time. Don’t recommend.
Went to the Hotel Macdonald for Thanksgiving Sunday brunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. Everything looked and tasted delicious, especially the braised short ribs and Belgian waffles! A little pricey but worth it for special occasions.
Never been before the food was fantastic. Everyone was helpful and the service was great
One of the few remaining brunches at a Fairmont Hotel and it was very good. A great selection of food options including healthy choices. A little noisy but a nice treat.
It was great! Gherte, in addition to others, was a wonderful and attentive server who made our celebration special.
The food is delicious with lots of variety. It was held in their main ballroom which is a beautiful room
The food was superb with excellent service! Corinna was our server and cleared extra plates very quickly. She pours a great Mimosa! What a historic hotel to tour after.
It was my mom’s birthday and she was treated like a queen. A great place to go for a special occasion. Thank you for looking after us so well.
Over all it was a good meal and very nice. I do however think the coffee was awful. It needs to be a dark roast and stronger. Plus a variety of coffees might be nice, like lattes etc. The desserts tasted store bought but there was a nice variety.
Our server was fantastic! The buffet was very fresh and a large variety of items!!! I have always wanted to do Sunday brunch there and my parents treated my husband and I for our anniversary! It was a brunch to not be forgotten! The only thing is, my husband and I tend not to overeat, even at a buffet, so if I was tagging the bill by myself, I would probably consider it too pricy
The service was great but the food not quite what it used to be, especially as the price has gone steadily up. on another note, it is always disappointing to be enjoying a meal in such a beautiful setting for a special occasion and to have to share the space with diners in flip flops, ball caps on backwards etc. I wish that there was still at least a minimal dress code in effect!
I have been coming to Hotel Macdonald's sunday brunch for alot of years and it has always been great. However, it is very much not the same quality it once was. I'm also very disappointed in the lack of gluten free options as my life is a celiac and left there hungry. It is very easy to have more gluten free options available. I'm not certain we will return any time soon because of this issue.
Went there for anniversary every year. Food is fresh and tasty. Will come back again next year!
Great experience and delicious meal. Yasmin was our server and looked after us very well and was very welcoming and attentive. Enjoyed ourselves very much.
Celebrated anniversary here. Everything was great !
Very beautiful, lovely selection. It is kind of expensive.
