About Sundance The Steakhouse
Since its opening in 1974, prime steaks and martinis have never gone out of style at this Palo Alto institution. The atmosphere is very clubby with fireplaces, dark wood, sports memorabilia and plush leather booths tucked into the many nooks throughout the dining room. Famous for their slow-roasted prime rib & hand-cut U.S.D.A Prime Steaks, they also offer fresh seafood, cold water lobster tail & succulent shellfish. The 23 oz. Bone-In Rib eye Steak is the "Boss' Favorite" while the Double Cut Filet Mignon runs a close second. Sundance is respected for serving the best food money can buy coupled with value & simplicity – a welcome relief for serious food & steak aficionados. The menu is supported by an award-winning wine list that features over 400 selections focusing on highly allocated Napa Valley Cabernets & Sonoma Pinot Noirs. Exceptional ratings & numerous restaurant awards rank Sundance the Steakhouse as a true dining destination.

Sundance The Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Very good food & attentive service made for an enjoyable dinner at Sundance Steakhouse. We were disappointed that the restaurant had run out of our first two wine selections, but were most satisfied with the Caesar, wedge, & house salads that we ordered, and the salmon, swordfish, & prime ribs entrees were delicious. The cheesecake and apple pie with ice cream were tasty choices to end a most satisfying meal.
Four of us had the Sunset Dinner menu, which had taken quite a jump since last year. We all chose from the $32 menu. One had prime rib (very good), two had the sword fish (excellent), and one had the brochette (meat was tough). The salads and potatoes were good. We did not have dessert.
Staff was very friendly. We could hold a conversation without having to raise our voices. Parking is a bear.
Always an impeccable experience, with outstanding service and fantastical food. This is my favorite steakhouse in all the Bay Area hands down. Try the prime rib. Order the baked potato with everything. Start with the clam chowder. Oh and the bread is warm. Enough said.
Sundance never disappoints. We had a wonderful experience as usual and will return soon for another fabulous dinner. Definitely try the famous clam chowder and go for the largest prime rib portion on the menu. We eat half and take the rest home for delicious sandwiches the next day. Yum!
5;30 FILET MIGNON SKEWER WAS COOKED PERFECTLY FOR ME. THE BAKED POTATO, VEGETABLES WERE GOOD. LOBSTER THERMADOR DELICIOUS AND THE APPLE PIE WAS PERFECT. A GOOD PRICE FOR A DELICIOUS DINNER AND AN ENTERTAINING WAITER. I WOULD RECOMMEND SUNDERANCE TO FRIENDS.
The Sundance Steak Company is old-school in such a great way. My small family group of 3 dined here for my husband's birthday. We were seated in a booth. Conversation was so easy, with little ambient noise. Floor is carpeted. Tables are separated and tableclothed. We were well cared for by a superior waiter. And the food was all that Sundance is known for: great steaks and prime rib, baked potatoes with all of the fixings, wedge salads. Of course, there are other options, too. I prefer a small serving, while others in our party do not. By going before 6:00, I was able to order the early dining special of a 6 oz. prime rib slice which includes a choice of salads off of the regular menu. The others ordered off of the regular menu. And my husband was treated to a candle and a slice of mud pie, too...with three spoons! We all left satisfied.
We have been visiting the steakhouse many years. Especially we loved your prime rib.
But this time we somewhat very disappointed. The meat was not the same as we knew.
One of the guest ordered rare, but it was medium , the answer was your restaurant ran out of prime rib. Good answer!!!
My favorite restaurant for lunch and special occasions in the Palo Alto area. I love the Ahi tuna burger for lunch, and my frequent lunch companion is a hamburger with fries fan. Always excellent and with attentive service. A bit pricy, but worth the extra. For special dinners my wife and I share a prime rib dinner. I have tasted no better prime rib (and I have tasted a few). Great drinks and atmosphere.
Our first time at Sundance and it lived up to our expectations. It was busy and a little noisy. The wedge salad was great and was served soon after ordering. My wife had the filet which was cooked perfectly but under seasoned. I had the house cut prime rib and it was amazing. It was tender and seasoned well. The garlic mash potatoes were good but the creamed spinach was our favorite side. Great restaurant for special occasion and/or a great prime rib meal.
