We have been rather regularly coming to Sunda for both brunch and dinner over the years, but this time fell a bit short. Most of the dining room was empty for a Sunday brunch service. Most times that we come for brunch the dining room is packed. That being neither here nor there, the service was lacking as well. Our server did not seem to very comfortable speaking to us and could barely answer the questions we did have. I asked about possibly getting the Great White, which is not on the brunch menu but is usually accommodated, but he never even came back to tell me that it was not possible. The manager never came over to check on us as normally done and it felt very impersonal compared to the previous times we have dined. The food was a bit sad when it came to the table. Ube waffle looked deflated and everything else looked like it had been sitting in the window for a long time. Unfortunately, we will probably not being dining at Sunda again.

Great spot for Asian food and at a good price. There were four of us and we spent no more than 300 but all left full and tried many things.

While the experience was very good I cannot give a 5 because of a slight accident where several drinks were accidentally spilled on one of the guests at the table. The server was sincerely apologetic and manager came an offered to pay for the dry cleaning. Accidents happen. The food delicious! I will be back.

Sunda is perhaps my favorite place for Asian cuisine in downtown Chicago. Technically pan-Asian, with a robust sushi menu. Everything I have ever tried here is absolutely delicious (the brussels sprouts appetizer and coconut cheesecake desert deserve a shout-out each). My mother, who is gluten-free, is also a die-hard fan of Sunda due to their number of gluten-free offerings which are clearly labeled on the menu.

EVERYTHING was amazing!! Food was incredible, zero complaints there but the coconut cheesecake was the most delicious dessert I’ve ever had! If you have an aversion to cheesecake, try it anyway - it’s light, so smooth and the flavor is just perfect. I could eat the papaya salad every single day. Would 100% recommend!

My fav dish was the crunchy surf n turf sushi as well as the Korean fried chicken steamed buns. Everything was delicious, I have no complaints.

We had such a great experience. We arrived at 8 PM and got the Wagyu rice to begin and it was one of the best things I have ever tasted. The meat was so tender. Then we ordered sushi and a Poké bowl. The salmon, in both of those were very fresh. We also experienced kind staff. The atmosphere was loud but we didn’t mind.

Great spot for large groups. Everyone in our party of 8 enjoyed multiple dishes whether they were sushi, meat or vegetarian. Easy to accommodate many different food allergies and preferences with a large varied menu. Would definitely dine here again!

Loved egg roll and bao bun appetizers. Sushi was ok, not nearly as good as it’s been in the past, or that I’ve had other places. Drinks were good, but some pours were light. Still as loud as ever, mostly the background music that makes it hard to talk.

The vibe in this place is clubby with pop EDM playing at a level too high for conversation. Our server asked for allergies but then kept bringing/recommending things with that ingredient in it. Food seemed to not have a level of balance needed to be good, seemed like a bunch of fancy ingredients smashed together. The only saving grace is that the drinks were very good, aside from the ones that we’re allergic to… I would not return.

Fabulous! From start to finish, this was a dining experience. Great service from Lila. Chefs table was a fun spot to watch. Started with edamame, Brussel sprouts, waygu crispy rice. All very good. Also had shrimp pad Thai, Szechuan chicken, and sea bass. These were outstanding, especially the sea bass.

Best. Night. EVER! I am relocating and decided to host my farewell dinner at Sunda. Edwin and our server executed the evening flawlessly. The drinks were flowing, the food cascaded on the table, everything was perfect from the printed menus to the laughs. The chef even graced us with a few surprise items ~ a special sashimi and dessert! Thank you SUNDA for a memorable last day in Chicago! Much love!

It was surprisingly one of the best dining experience I’ve had in a while. The manager, D’Sean made sure that my hubby and I and our friends are taken care of. Some of the dishes we ordered were not even on the menu🥹. Kudos to the Chef and the staff 👏👏👏👏

Options for vegans were pretty good. We had picked vegetables and seaweed salad to start and for a main I had the grilled vegetables in and delicious Thai peanut sauce. Having said that the dishes were large but all vegetable and would be more filling with a bean and a starch. Maybe adding a sushi roll might have helped.

Food on point. The place was extremely busy and the kitchen was crushing it. Literally took just minutes after ordering for food to arrive. Noise level was to the point you had to practically yell for the person across the table to hear you.
