This is a must visit when in the city. Love, love, love their food! Had Sunday brunch with lumpia, pork belly bao buns, Crispy Pig Hidden Lobster maki and the biggest halo-halo I've seen. Service was excellent - Joey did a great job explaining the menu and food items. He was super attentive. Truly a great place to go for any meal.
I have loved this place for years and always recommend it to anyone coming to Chicago to visit. Especially the brunch, which is great. My favorites are the crispy Brussels sprout salad. The seared wagyu on crispy rice. And, most recently, the tempura French toast (although they were a bit stingy with the whipped cream...).
A couple quick tips: walk or use public transit if you can. Getting around in this neighborhood during busy times is stressful and parking can be hit or miss. Also... This last time (yesterday) I ended up having to valet...which ended up being a bad experience and also stressful. It seemed the valet guy was sleeping on the job. And...he had left my car not only unattended but also unlocked... The restaurant (generously) picked up the parking tab.
The delicious food, great atmosphere, and friendly service all makes for a great night out.
The food is reasonable at this pricepoint. The server was friendly but low energy. The place itself is the problem. They pack people in, which is fine, but they have no sound-deadening decor or construction. This place is one of the loudest "nice" restaurants in the city. It's fine for most of us, but can be a problem for those with any hearing issues (like my older family members). Also - a place that has a sushi bar should be able to have some recommendations on which selections are good that day, or off the menu specialties. "There all good" is not acceptable. Do not go for nigiri sushi or sashimi. Go if you like rolls etc.
Fantastic dinner with my wife!
Food on its own was delicious but our server Bree was very attentive, friendly, and helpful.
The best foods ever I’ve tasted in my life. Must go.
Amazing!!!! Top 5 meals of my life. Great experience, food, service & ambiance.
I've been to Sunda on a few occasions and honestly, everything I've tried has been nothing short of amazing. The food is very good, top notch service, and its in a really neat venue. Perfect for a date or any special occasion.
Everything was wonderful! Sitting at the chefs table was a real treat. Thank you.
Birthday dinner review: 1. Nothing was done for the birthday! I even mentioned it a second time to the hostess as we were sitting down! Pretty disappointing. 2. Service: Our waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu, and a good waiter, but the slow service (drinks and food) definitely hindered our experience. Food coming out before drinks, having to cancel a roll, because it took over 30 minutes, etc! 3. Noise level: Far louder than any Rush rocket concert I’ve ever been to!
I took my cousin here. This is my favorite restaurant in Chicago. Whenever my husband and I have family or friends in town, we take them to Sunda. The food is amazing and unique. The atmosphere is fun. We always like the food that the server recommends.
I had not been back to Sunda in about 5 years. It did not disappoint. You must get the tiger shrimp, the crispy Brussels sprout salad, and the drunken noodles. The spicy tuna crispy rice was amazing too. Excellent service, very attentive.
Amazing food and excellent service. I forgot the waitresses name. but she was extremely attentive and professional.
One of the best meals I’ve ever had. The Brussels salad, crispy rice with spicy tuna, and spicy edamame were all phenomenal.
Food is always great
We had Mel as our waitress and had her bring out whatever she thought we would like. Everything was amazing!!
A little pricey for Asian food. I didn't find anything extraordinary about the food that would justify the price.
If I could give 0 star for their food, I would. Horrible, horrible food. the nigari were not fresh, and disgusting! We ordered the restaurant week menu and a miso soup ramen. the beef was jasmine rice from the restaurant week menu basically taste like any kind of instant rice you can get from any Asian supermarket, probaly worse than that! The ramen was overcook, I personally would not call it ramen!
