We have been to Sunda several times for dinner and it is one of our favorite restaurants. We wanted to go to brunch and finally got there last Sunday, and it was very enjoyable. There were only two of us so we could only try three things. We had the Arroz Caldo, which reminded me of a congee. It was light with a nice ginger flavor, not overly seasoned. We also had the Silog Loganisa which was a real winner! My friend and I both love the Portuguese sausage that is served in Hawaii (not to be confused with linguica, which is really not the same). The loganisa was a similar sausage to the Hawaiian version of Portuguese sausage. The dish was very very tasty and was a nice contrast to the Arroz Caldo. We then finished with the Ume Bites. We really didn’t know what to expect. Three came in an order but they were not really bites as they were more muffin sized. It was a different flavor and difficult to describe but unique and also really tasty. It was sweet and filled with the ume which was sweet and a little tart, with an ume butter swirled on top that eventually melted into the cake/muffin. So good. For sure we will return to try many of the other dishes that intrigued us. Sunda never disappoints us.

I feel this place is a bit over rated. It is probably why it is not as busy as the last time we were there

Thank you for having us. The food was delicious and the birthday girl enjoyed the dessert for her birthday cake. We will definitely come back for our next visit.

Large and varied menu with many great choices. The waitress gave us guidance on numbers of dishes to share. She was helpful and efficient. We loved the duck fried rice and the miso seared cod. The sushi was also excellent. A bit noisy. Overall a great meal.

I took my boyfriend there for his bday & he loved it. It’s one of my favorite restaurants & his first time going & wants to make it a regular spot for us. The food was amazing with lots of options which is good cause I’m a pescatarian. We had an amazing time.

We go to Sunda all the time. I could give it a five but I know all the "stuff" about them. Service is sometimes a little slow but always great. The food is always great. Overall LOVE it. It can be a little too loud but the atmosphere is still great. Try the Panda roll, or the Rock Shrimp. All of the sushi tastes super fresh. L

Great food & service. However, too heavy on Japanese choices than Southeast Asian. I like the choices in the Nashville branch better.

Interesting place ... I treated my daughter to a birthday brunch. We were so looking forward to trying this place based on reviews we've read about it. Food was great and creative, but they should strive for excellence. All the courses that we tried were really tasty but I couldn't say that there's a certain course that really blew us away. The Sumo Mary was very imaginative and fun though, but not all of its components were worth raving for. There's a slight tendency for this restaurant to try too hard in the guise of creativity, and yet some items got neglected along the way like a certain side or garnish (?) to a pretty tasty pork belly dish we had. It was so flat, acid-wise, that we weren't sure if it was just a bad or boring atchara, or a very lame pickled radicchio slaw? We're so hoping it would be so much better next time as we do plan to go back.

Taste and quality of food was lacking, especially for the price. [Duck in the steamed buns were so dry, I almost choked. And the soy(?) sauce the hamachi tartare was sitting on was so salty.] The service wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t superb. The lighting was so dark, I could barely read the menu. And when I say it’s LOUD inside, it is L.O.U.D. My husband and I could barely hear one another, even at shouting level.

Truly top-notch sushi. We ordered simple sashimi - toro and maguro and hamachi, all of it incredible. The toro was like butter! The broccoli salad has a lot going on but the flavors meld beautifully. The miso was smooth and flavorful. The hamachi tataki seemed a bit mismatched. Perhaps the fish was so good on its own, we didn’t appreciate the light sauce with it - which was excellent. Our server was a bit extra, still big kudos for being extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I look forward to returning when my travels bring me back to Chicago.

We appreciated the separate vegan menu. We ordered the fried rice, crispy brussel sprout salad, miso cauliflower, adobo mushrooms, and dumplings. The cauliflower and brussel sprout salad was definitely my favorite, but the fried rice was flavor-less. We had plenty of leftovers, the portions are big and filling, and the cocktails are pretty good.

My only complaint would be the service, our server was not very friendly.

Food was ok. Much was warm at best. Came out 3-4 items at once and then staff disappeared. Hard time getting drinks refilled. Super busy and loud so it was a fun atmosphere but server had too much going to be attentive. At 100 bucks a head it should’ve been better

I was celebrating my 40th birthday with a group of friends and we had a great time!
The Sunda team was super helpful in making sure my birthday was special. We had a couple of people in the group with dietary restrictions (a dairy allergy, celiac and a vegan) and everyone found something they could enjoy and the Sunda team was excellent at ensuring that as each dish arrived they communicated which ones my friends with dietary needs would be able to eat.
