This was our (my wife and I) first visit to Summit House. We liked the decor and the NYC'ish atmosphere. It's situated at a busy corner in Summit, and with the large windows open can be a bit noisy from the streets, though a very nice breeze was blowing through. The cocktail list is very interesting and creative, but expensive by our standards at $14 - $16, and $9 for draught beer. It reminded me why I like BYO's.
The service was outstanding. Any questions we had that the waiter didn't know he quickly got the answers.
The food was very good. Many locally sourced ingredients, and some grown by the chef himself. Very creative combinations of seafood, vegetables, and spices. The kale salad was of a kind I never had before... a bit chewy but very fresh, tasty, and healthy!
I'm not sure how rating systems determine the number of $ signs to signify the price point of the restaurant, but in our opinion it should be rated $$ instead of $$ since most of the entrees were priced in the $30's with a couple under and over that.
Overall, a very good time here and worth a visit.
Summit House never disappoints!! Amazing food, beautiful atmosphere and excellent service!!
Great night and meal
I enjoy eating at this restaurant so much that I thought I should lower my rating so I could always get a table! :)
Mother’s Day brunch menu was limited. Went overboard with the fresh items. Nearly everything on the menu had asparagus and peas added, even the avocado toast! Sides were great, but a little stingy on the monkey bread. Nice that they gave all the Mother’s herb plants as they left.
This was our second time - we sat in the back - i have to say i prefer the front of the restaurant by far....would not want to sit in the back
Little annoying that we put in our raw bar order but waiter could not place order until we ordered our entire meal....this was not good for us
Food was very good....drinks were ver good.....
Everything was wonderful!!
We were celebrating my mother’s 94th birthday. Everything about the evening was outstanding. When we walked in they wished my mother a happy birthday before I said anything. Our waitress Samantha was very attentive. And the food was spectacular.
I was very excited to try Summit House, but overall was very disappointed. We were seated at a table by the open windows and then a few minutes later were asked to move because they realized they needed the table for other guests. I thought this was rather unprofessional.
Very fresh and well prepared. Pea soup excellent. Desserts outstanding. Chicken not as fantastic as usual - good but an off night.
We love Summit House!!! it has surpassed any restaurant in the area by great lengths - the food, the staff, the ambiance, the kindness and goodness.
A+ across the board.
They forgot to acknowledge my husband’s birthday as I had indicated when making the reservation. We left without reminding them as I felt awkward doing so after dinner. Prices very high for beverages. $16 for a (3/4 filled glass) Manhattan is ridiculous. Tables too close for comfort. No privacy of conversation as table next to us joined in ours! Food presentation lovely and very tasty. Menu selection however not my favorite. Noise level at a crazy pitch. Beautiful ceiling needs to provide some buffering. Place was packed on a Wednesday so I must be in the minority.
Excellent! Our waiter, Josh, was very attentive to our needs. The food was wonderful! Highly recommended!
It was amazing food. I loved taking my husband here for his birthday. I would recommend to everyone and anyone.
Limited menu options but great service and food was good. A bit pricey for lunch.
The bread is the best thing about this place. Wish they’d bring back the gem lettuce with basil tahini dressing, as that was also a winner. Everything else is average and service needs a lot of improvement, like how about really training the staff and not just rely on them being friendly.
Birthday for my wife, good food, great ambiance, I bit loud but so were we
It was our first time, celebrating my husband's birthday and everything was fantastic. Everyone from the minute we entered were attentive and helpful. Our server Samantha was sweet and gave good menu suggestions when asked. The octopus appetizer, marinated mussels and the salmon tartare were all exceptional.Scallops and the steak were both very good.
We were served complimentary champagne as well as the chef's pasta tasting.....which again were very unique and flavorful.
Only downside, after all that food we were too full to try any dessert! Will just have to go back I guess.
Thanks to all for making the occasion so memorable.
Great experience and great food and drinjs
We came for our anniversary and very much enjoyed the experience. We started with some cocktails and the maple bacon popcorn, which was divine. I ordered the custom vegetarian option and enjoyed the surprise of the dish. I rarely finish my plate, but this time I did! My husband had a fish dish which he also enjoyed. The dessert and list was tempting but we did not try it this time.
excellent food. many gf options scallops were the best
This was our second time at the Summit House and we tried a few different dishes which were all good, with right portions and good taste. Although, this time it lacked a bit of the spark of flavor I sensed before. Atention is always good and this time we got to sit close to the kitchen and it was interesting to see. The restaurant was crazy busy and very noisy for a Thursday, and we didnt love that part of it. We shared appetizers and desserts and each one took an entree, with a total 2 glasses of wine at the table; including tips we paid 75 USD pp.
Very good food, nice ambiance and excellent service. No real complaints, other than being pushed a much better glass of wine, at a much higher price $12 vs. $22, without the price change being made clear. Kind of a pet peeve. So if something is proposed, assume it is pricy.
Great space, staff and food. However, my only complaint was that there was a GIANT projection TV in the dining room (granted, it was the room that the bar was in, but it TOOK OVER the room) which totally ruined the atmosphere of a lovely space. You want one screen in the corner behind the bar? Fine. But NOT that size TV in the dining area in a restaurant of this stature and atmosphere.
Have tried to have dinner here many times on a Saturday night, but need reservations several weeks in advance for prime time so has not worked out. Had Sunday brunch here with friends from NYC this past Sunday. Very good food and nice vibe and atmosphere. We shared the monkey bread which was pretty delicious. Entrees were pancakes, baked eggs, and avacodo toast, all of which were nicely prepared and yummy. Service was professional and excellent. A great neighborhood restaurant! We will be back.
We were so excited to go to Summit House as it had been at the top of our local restaurant bucket list for a while. We really wanted to love it. The service was very slow but as long as the food was good it wouldn’t have bothered us too much. We splashed out in a $93 bottle of wine which tasted awful. I don’t think it was off, just a bad wine and bad choice. The raw bar selection for appetiser was nice, except for 3 of the 6 clams which tasted like they hadn’t been washed properly. My main of scallops was nice but wasn’t the impeccably presented masterpiece I was expecting. It was like a stew of scallops and potatoes, and not easily identifiable which was which. Not your typical scallop accompaniment for a reason I think! My husbands Monkfish with mushroom was so bland he might as well have been eating air. The only slight flavour was in the broth. We won’t be rushing back.
The food and drinks were fantastic. My husband and I had the grilled octopus app and for entrees we had the monk fish and scallops. Wanted to lick the plate it was so good. Without the great food though I’d be hesitant to go back for two reasons. 1. The service was odd. Drinks took quite awhile to arrive however the food came out back to back as if they were rushing us out to seat other reservations. I didn’t like that feeling of being pushed out. We were done with our meals in under an hour which is not right 2. The restaurant is just too crowded and loud. It’s obvious they want to squeeze as many tables in as possible. I felt like we were at dinner with the couples next to us. But like I said the food is phenomenal.
We had a birthday lunch here including my toddler son. We were welcomed by feel good music upon walking though the door, and every table is a lovely one. The servers were so accommodating and kind, and for a nicer restaurant, it felt extremely family friendly. Other kids were there in high chairs as well. They’re color-book kid’s menu is great, and comes with crudités and hummus, as well as ice cream, which my son loved. Our scallops were cooked perfectly and the variety of raw bar items and appetizers pleased the whole crowd. I tried the Korean chicken sandwich as well and loved it. Our area could use more family friendly, full-bar, upscale restaurants like this one! I noticed they have a private room as well. We will definitely be back! Can’t wait to try the dinner menu!
Great service, food and cool vibe!! Yummy cocktails too!!
Cocktails took a while to arrive so we put off ordering straight away or we would have been eating our appetizers with our cocktails.
Appetizers were good. Pork chop was sat on a bed of beans & cabbage which didn’t taste of anything. Chop was good.
Keith was the best waiter we have ever had. Food excellent.
The food and service are excelled. However, I do think that the kids Prix fix menu that day was way over priced. My son had a plain hamburger with fries and ice cream for dessert. He couldn't have the starter because he was allergic so they brought him a tiny bowl of popcorn (it was literally 10 pop corns!) and we paid $35 for this. A bit ridiculous. Granted, it was Easter Sunday but still, I cannot get over the fact that we paid $35 for a kids hamburger!
I would not recommend this place if you are taking your kids.
Excellent service - portions could be bigger for the price. Excellent food and specialty drinks.
Thee food and service were top notch! Will definitely be going back soon. O
good food, good service, VERY LOUD and close quarters
Slow service and over cooked food was the theme of the day. Drinks took 15 minutes to come with the restaurant only half full. Service was notably poor and disorganized. Food has fallen off since opening. The “perfumed” soap in the bathroom is so strong you can’t smell your food after washing your hands. A once promising new restaurant in Summit is now one to avoid until changes are made.
Second time I have been to this restaurant. And again had a great meal. Food was excellent, service was very good and we sat in the back. Loved looking at the kitchen area prepare the food. Will be back again and again.
Our favorite spot in Summit!
Delicious salads and great atmosphere.
