The food was moderate. The atmosphere was casual/family style. The service was very accommodating and the waitress was on-point.
Poor service and very over priced
This was a birthday dinner for a dear friend and his partner, and it did not disappoint! the lobster pot stickers or not to be missed
Awesome as usual. The fish is always fresh and the drinks are creative.
The summer shack in historic Cambridge is the perfect place to relax and enjoy delicious new England seafood. From poster to delectable fried clams there is something for everyone at the summer shack.
Food was very good and server, Sean, was great, very pleasant and helpful.
Great baked stuffed lobster!!
Excellent service, out door dining
I used to got to the Aku Aku back in the day. Unfortunately it looks like not much has been updated. The booths and walls look like the original. Very very worn. Service was very slow and average at best. Bathrooms had tiles falling off and the stall doors were very old, possibly original Aku.
The food wasn’t much better. I got the clam chowder with was lukewarm and average at best. I also got the baked stuffed lobster. It was so overcooked that the claw meat literally stuck to the shell and shredded when you could get it out. The waiter commented that it usually doesn’t take that long for the food to come out.
They have definitely given up. Very high priced for so so food and decor from the 90’s (that’s being generous)
Food was excellent and our waitress was amazing!!
The energy is different because of the pandemic, but that was to be expected. We sat outside (which is in the parking lot, but at least there was no traffic noise). For most of the meal, we were the only diners. Our waiter, Jeffrey, was attentive, accommodating, pleasant, and knowledgeable. The food was as good as the other times we've eaten at Summer Shack, particularly the chowder and the salads. The lobster roll was packed with lobster, but maybe a little too heavy on the mayo.
First: the safety measures are good. Outdoor dining under a canopy in their parking lot is enjoyable. This time we opted to dine inside and they have diners very well spaced out. Staff wore PPE and respected our 'space'.
The food was great, and portions were large. The salmon with ratatouille was superb.
We had lunch on a rainy Saturday under a tent in the parking lot. The ambiance was less than stellar, but that's no one's fault. The food and service were outstanding. It was like we were the only diners, and we got all the attention of our server. Because we were just about the only diners! I hope this place survives the pandemic.
No bread prior to meal nor garlic bread with Shrimp scampi. Shrimp dishes were bland
Was a wonderful opportunity for 4 friends to have lunch. They made it possible for everyone to feel comfortable with distance. The food was incredible and so glad we made it for restaurant week. Will def go again!
Very average food - very slow service.
Nicely spaced seating in parking lot.
We went Summer Shack for Boston’s Restaurant Week and I have to say it was wonderful. The food was delicious and bountiful! We never seen so much food and for such a value. Our waiter was very sweet and efficient. We will definitely be back !!
Really liked the place, great food, great staff, nice shady tent to eat under outside. Recommend the lobster or the fish and chips.
Nice combo of plates, good selection, great service, so nice to be out enjoying Restaurant Week
Service was good, really nice waitstaff. The food was just OK, nothing to write home about. I had the shrimp scampi and it was very basic. Not as good as I expected.
Food is always delicious and fresh here. Tempting choices. You can't go wrong!
I used to love this place but went yesterday for restaurant week with my friend and her daughter and none of us really liked it :( not to mention there was cooked food on one of our forks and they kept forgetting things . Sorry to say I definitely won’t be back
We sat outside, they spread people out which also allowed it to be quiet. Some food was great! calamari over fried and mushy. Friendly staff .
Fantastic waiter. Very polite and great guy!
Food was good & hot, calamari was a little big greasy but the lobster and fish & chips were incredible
The food was outstanding. The sushi was so fresh— I highly recommend. Others at the table all said the seafood— scallops , lobster & shrimp was delicious. Great cocktails!! The restaurant did a great job observing all the COVID protocols. We ate outside & the tables are well spaced & impeccably clean. The service was great.
This is a really good restaurant to enjoy a safe & delicious meal. Our server really did a great job to keep us safe during this tough times during a pandemic. It speaks to the quality of this restaurant— not just the food but their staff.
Summer shack still gets it done. Great sushi now also
Thanks to all staff for being open - outdoor eating is great right now.
Seafood was good...service just OK...parking lot ambience was as good as it could be...distancing good but the table beside us had two very loud women.
Sides looked sad --- coleslaw appeared to have sat for a bit...french fries weren't hot.
It was good
Lobster special from Jasper recipes used to be extraordinary Now just ok obviously recipe has changed better off just getting steamed with butter
Staff excellent with buddy who is in wheelchair. Drinks were good, lobster roll a little pricey for the size, fried clams are great albeit a little small, raw bar excellent.
I'll go back.
I miss Jasper White’s smiling face, but the food was still good! Thank you for a nice dinner.
Flawless food and excellent, friendly service, even on a busy night. Especially recommend the Buffalo fried shrimp, and the key lime pie as dessert.
Food was very small quantity, not good taste and service was very slow!
We were disappointed in the food, but the service was excellent, and the dinning room was quite pleasant. Some negatives:
1. The calamari with peppers was an unfortunate choice; one could barely taste the calmeri, and there wasn't much of it, especially given the price!
2. The greek said was really bad, so drenched in tomato and excess salad that the feta cheese and peppers had little chance to recognized. Also, very pricey.
3. The stuffed-lobster was a disappointment. While the taste was fine, and the stuffing excellent, it seems as though half of the lobster meat had been taken out and replaced by the stuffing. Normally, a 1 2/2 lb lobster has a reasonable amount of meat in it; This was not the case with our serving.
4. Finally, we could have done with a little less country-pop music -- some pleasant dining music would have been fine. What was played was intrusive and unpleasant.
We were seated basically in the kitchen. However, the food was to my expectation and the service was friendly. The menu was a bit different but in a great way they had a delicious lobster mac and cheese that I hope they keep!
Really good lobster roll!!! Service was really nice, and the place followed the safety protocols of social distancing.
We went for our brother’s birthday and the service was awesome! Everything was clean and they had outdoor seating available which was great! Food was good and drinks were delicious!
The calamari was lightly breaded, slight citrus, and it tasted fresh!
The food and service were great. We ate outside under the canopy in the parking lot. It was great to be outside.
