Excellent food and service - great way to celebrate a special occasion such as a birthday.
I thought we are in the midst of tariff war with China and the lobster prices would be more reasonable! Everything except value is great at this place.
Great fresh fish, wonderful service and comfortable atmosphere.
Food was very good. Service was outstanding. We were fortunate to get Stephanie as our waitress. She was outstanding. Very knowledgeable about lobsters. Great place to eat. A definite must when dining in the Boston area
Not as good as I remember last year. Maybe changed owners still fun place but pricey
The staff is outstanding. They are friendly and happy to answer any questions or take care of your requests. The food is fresh and delicious. This was our second visit during Dine Out Boston - both times for lunch. We look forward to returning - even after the special deals offered during Dine Out Boston. Worth the price.
The food was scrumptious. The pan roasted lobster was as good as its reputation. Even the corn on the cob was superior. Some of the prices seemed a tad overbearing but not disturbing. The only reason I did not give a 5 overall was the cheap lobster crackers. They were not the right type for cracking lobster; in fact they were wobbly and useless.
Everything was delicious except one person in our party said the swordfish was overcooked. Next time she'll request it med-well done. Cooked to a safe temperature, not over-cooked
Children friendly. Our waiter was fabulous
The food was ok.
Service was outstanding!! Food was delicious!!
food was good busy active fairly noisy place
lots of good lobster!
Best way to start a vacation thank you all at Summer Shack!
The lobster was overcooked big times ! I am a big fan of seafood, but it must be done right, it is very easy to over cook and the whole meal is destroyed
Thorough enjoyed our meal from appetizer to dessert. Both quality and quantity were excellent but a little pricey for every day dining. We were celebrating a birthday. It was an excellent choice.
We went for dine out Boston. The clam chowder was delicious but the oyster crackers were place on top for you and they were stale. The main course had shrimp that was overcooked. The dessert was a brownie sundae and by the time it arrived at the table the ice cream had all melted and the brownie was cold. The watermelon margarita was awful. I would not go back.
Great seafood as reasonable prices. Casual atmosphere but that's okay. It's about the food!
Fabulous! We went for Dine Out Boston week. One of us ordered from the specials, one off the regular menu. All the food was fresh, tasty and plentiful. Our server was friendly and helpful. I ready to go back again and again.
I've been a fan of Jasper White since the days of his restaurant on the waterfront. Clearly people in his kitchens are well trained. Whether it's fancy signature dishes at the high end, "Jaspers" or simpler preparations at the Summer Shack I've never had anything that wasn't prepared perfectly.
The service has been better on previous visits to SS. Our server was welcoming and explained the offerings well but it took a long time to get drinks and after asking if we were happy with what we'd ordered she didn't check back or notice that our glasses were empty.
For such a casual atmosphere the prices at Summer Shack are on the high side but you get what you pay for – food prepared to the standard that Jasper built his reputation on.
Jaspers chicken and baked stuffed lobster what could be better that
Stephanie was our server and she advised my husband about an ingredient in the stuffing he may not like. We were so glad she did because he doesn’t like those ingredients.
Hubby is enjoying my leftover chicken as I can never finish all of it
Hubby also enjoyed seeing the statue from the Aku as he worked in the neighborhood.
Jasper please enjoy your retirement as the staff has it covered and food is definitely love here
Summer Shack is the place to go for the NE lobster shack experience. Great food, great staff, and excellent drinks! Perhaps surprisingly, a treat for business meetings and a fantastic place for family celebrations.
They didn't have the scallops that night, so I ordered something else which turned out to be absolutely delectable! My daughter was pleased with her crab cakes.
I brought my relatives there, they were not from this area...they thought the lobster was the best they have ever had. My salmon was excellent also, and my son loved the chowder but my son thought the crabcakes. Considering we were one of the few people there we should have been able to hear each other better but the ambient noise level was such that it was not as easy as it should have been. Also the parking lot could be made a little nicer to look at...the inside is nice enough but the outside is a mess.
Still a great seafood restaurant. Wonderful oyster selection. I had the wok cooked lobster. Carol had fried clams. Both were very good. And the service was great.
Good food and good ambiance but service was hurried.
Very good seafood at Summer Shack Cambridge. You know it's fresh. I dined there twice this week. The first night there were several large parties, and the noise level was a problem. The second night that was not the case. Everyone I was with liked their food a lot--except for the kale, which came with the bluefish, which was drenched in oil. Service is very good. Parking is easy. Gluten-free is available. This restaurant has been a Cambridge staple for years and years, and continues to be popular, for good reason.
Summer Shack was lacking tonight. Service was terrible - took over an hour for our food to arrive. Restaurant not crowded - I suspect the order was lost in the kitchen. Waitress had no explanation.
Food was average; Gulf Shrimp was two skewers of tiny shrimp.
Food and service was great. My only complaint is that I thought the food was a tad overpriced.
Reliable. Food excellent. Great menu
Great service. First choice for lunch
Our dinner was amazing - from the Buffalo Wing (yes, they were good!) and corn bread to the pan roasted lobster. We’d definitely go back. And, our waiter Ken made the meal perfect - witty with a helping of humor. Thanks.
Very good lunch -- lobster rolls, one traditional (mayo and celery), the other on hot-buttered roll, with sides of slaw and sweet-potato fries. For dessert, strawberry-rhubarb pie. Service was outstanding: very cordial and attentive.
waitress was fabulous and served us very well. We will be back again for more great food and conversation.
Servers were friendly and funny!!
Lobster roll was very skimpy. Would have given a better review if there was more lobster meat in the ST roll.
Our lobsters of the summer were much too expensive.
The elevator looked ready to collapse so we had to use the stairs - my husband uses a walker!
A fantastic seafood restaurant without heading to the shore. The lobster clam bake transported me to the beach. Our entire crew enjoyed the evening.
My waiter kept forgetting orders. We had to ask 3 times for our oysters, and every time he said "okay I'll put the order in now." I had my young child with me and he brought her food out way after everyone else. (Who does that? You gotta keep the kids happy first!) The tuna my guest ordered was mushy and undercooked. Then the waiter told us the kids meal comes with ice cream, we waiting for the ice cream for 25 minutes and it never came. The waiter actually brought us our check first and still didn't remember the ice cream. Then he forgot the to-go box we asked for, so we couldn't take anything home. We had waited so long at that point we decided to just leave instead of reminding him again. Very poor experience.
Way over priced
FAR too expensive for what they offer - $72/ea for a grilled lobster served w/one ear of mushy corn?? Ridiculous!
Always a delicious seafood experience! A favorite.
