It had been 5 or 6 years since my last visit to Summer Shack, and the food seemed pricier than I remembered but it also seemed better. Everyone in my group enjoyed the shared appetizers (ginger chicken wings and calamari) and their entrees.

We have been to Summer Shack many times - both Fresh Pond and Boston - and ALWAYS enjoy it. Can't wait for the next visit.

Dinner was good. Everything was very fresh, with nice flavor, interesting and not over the top. Our server was very accommodating. The restaurant was not crowded - maybe two thirds full. It might be noisy if it's really busy.

Food was incredible. Wine selection great! Music level was reasonable. Only issue was poorly managed (by their families) children who were allowed to run wild!

My favorite place for seafood that's always cooked and served perfectly. Love it for lunch, business colleagues share that feeling, and for dinner if I'm not looking for a fancy place.

This remains Boston's best seafood restaurant by far (and for a town on the sea as we all know we lack those - or at least good ones.) Not only is their Seafood great, but their preparations, sides, vegetables are fabulous, innovative - and the menu is huge, ecclectic, creative and fabulous. Those of us Bostonians who drive to Alewife to dine here regularly do so for a reason. Service is wonderful. Sal is the best we have seen.

There are too many picnic tables without seat backs. We had to wait even though there were empty tables. Maybe a change of furniture is needed in Cambridge. Casual dining is fine, but older people want to rest their backs. Food is fantastic as always. Haven't had fried smelts in years, and it was one of the app specials of the evening, great and very fresh.

As usual, we had great food and we were well taken care of by our waiter. We even got a visit from the balloon artist who made a giraffe for our 4-year old (after declining to make a spider and a ladybug).

An enjoyable experience. We shared a plate of mixed oysters as an appetizer an d they were delicious and the server took the time to point out which were which. My date had a shrimp and scallop dish with broccoli rabe which was outstanding and I had my tried and true pan-roasted lobster upgraded to a 2 pounder. It's messy to eat but absolutely delicious. For dessert my date had a key lime pie special which she raved about and I had Indian Pudding, which was ok, not great. The noise level sometimes makes for difficult conversation, even though the restaurant was only 2/3 full. Service was attentive but not obtrusive. Overall, a very enjoyable experience.

Good spot for kids, food is very good, just a bit pricey. A "cheap" dinner for two adults and two toddlers ran us about $70. But burger WAS pretty darned good!

We enjoyed ourselves and our 1 1/2 year old was entertained with the ambiance and the fact that she was allowed to pet a lobster. Twice. Thanks for being so kid-friendly.

We met with two old friends not seen since high school. I asked for a quiet table and the staff was able to comply, a great thing in a large, crowded restaurant filled with hard surfaces and happy groups. All the food was cooked impeccably except for one order of rice which was "refrigerator cold." The Indian pudding was Durgin-Park quality. The waitstaff was friendly and patient with our preference for getting reacquainted over reading the menu. Overall, a good, somewhat short of excellent experience.

I love the "Good for You" fish selection which is often Bluefish. It's packed with flavor and good for you too! I often go to the Summer Shack for their great selection of oysters which are fairly priced and sometimes are buy one get one. You can't beat that!

Summer Shack is a unique experience-it does imitate a casual beach side restaurant with emphasis on lobster, raw bar and seafood. The food is very good and the service was attentive. Last weekend was the Head of the Charles Regatta and there were many big groups. Lobsters were coming out of the kitchen by the dozens. The room was full but the noise was managed well with some screens isolating big groups of rowers. We also had a large group and everyone was very pleased and left happy and full. My husband had the striped bass which was delicious but a little heavy on the sauce. All the other fish dishes were excellent as was the rib eye steak for the carnivore in the group.

Summer Shack is always a great spot to go with the family.

It filled our desire to have a team building lunch in a fun atmosphere. The food was fine but nothing special. Our waitperson had a strong accent and with the limited acoustics, it was challenging to understand her (group average age was 50).

I thought the food was very good. It was expensive, I had roasted lobster(chicken lobster) and it came with a ear of corn. It was $40. Overall I thought it was good. The waiter we had, was very nice, a little slow, but nice.

Thanks to making reservations through Open Table we were seated as soon as we got to Summer Shack. It is a fun environment, and I chose the restaurant as a good dinner spot for me and my 9 year old son. Service was very good. Food was fine. But, I walk away from Summer Shack always shocked at my bill at the end the meal. For an adult and a child, I ended up spending close to $60 (tip included) for a soup, fish and chips, hot dog fries, milk and a glass of wine. Thankfully I knew the insane check was coming as we have eaten there before. We really keep our visits to Summer Shack to a minimum though because of the expense.

We enjoyed our previous visit much more than this one. We were seated at a picnic table with benches, but fortunately were able to change to a regular table. Maybe it was what we ordered, but food seemed overpriced this time. The kids menu is great, but gets pricey if they order dessert.

Summer Shack is a reliable, repeat restaurant for us. We go to Fresh Pond on week night or weekend, and have been several times to the Boston location on the way to Fenway Park (park in the garage upstairs after 5 p.m., have a bite at the bar, and walk to the game).

A consistently wonderful range of choices and prices - always something new to try and always very good.

Delicious food (Steamed Lobster, Steamers, RI-Style Calamari, AMAZING Long Burger with lue Cheese, Meatloaf and Mashed Potatoes, Apples Pie, and Indian Pudding!). Our waiter and all the staff were great- fast, funny, and friendly! It was my Mom's birthday, and she wanted a lobster and steamers dinner. Summer Shack was just the right fit for high-quality seafood in a nicer 'restaurant' (versus a real roadside shack in October!) atmosphere. We had fabulous food and a great time! Thanks Summer Shack!!!

Food was ok but we felt rushed and waiter seemed busy and not attentive. Overall, I will not go back to that location or recommend it to others. Good for fast (very quick meal) but not for night out with friends. Rather cold and loud atmosphere which is good for families but not for couples looking for a quiet Saturday night out.

We were pleasantly surprised with the quality and selection of food given the size and decor of this restaurant. The Oysters were superb, the swordfish we cooked perfectly with a wonderful Caponata on top. The local scallops were as good as we have ever had... Really a very pleasant surprise. If you want good food when you are going out with a large group and a lot of kids, I recommend the Summer Shack. By the way, the key lime pie was spot on perfect.

We had a group of 7 in our party, so it was great that we could get a reservation. The ambience is very basic, but good for kids. Our waitress was very attentive and the food arrived in a timely manner. Everyone liked their dinner, no overall complaints, but I found the lobster roll to be a bit expensive and bland. The ice cream was excellent!

I had been here once before for dinner. It was really noisy. The lunch atmosphere was great, much quieter and you could have a decent conversation. But I wouldn't go for lunch again because there isn't a lunch menu. Most times I don't want to spend $25 for a piece of fish for lunch, nor do I want a dinner size portion.
